I just lost all songs on my Ipod, but my Itunes still has everything

I plugged my Ipod into the computer today, usual as always, just to import over a few new CD's, but then I get this pop-up.
"Songs on the iPod "Scott's iPod" cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist"
Confused, I checked my music on my iPod, and now...There is nothing there!
No Songs, No Playlists, No CDS, nothing.
Yet...everything is still in my iTunes, most of which was on my Ipod a few minutes ago
What the heck happened and how do I fix this?

You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod and then the playlist it has been updating from is deleted. Most people use this setting when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library. If your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod, iTunes by default makes a new playlist called something along the lines of "Owner's iPod". If you for any reason delete it, you will not be able to sync your iPod.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 1800MB for a 2G iPod Nano. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "1800" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.

My macbook pro crashed after installing maverick. I lost all my photos however the iPhone iPhoto app still has these photos so how can i access the package contents to recover these photos?

We'll need to know more to beable to help. Do you want to try to restore your photos from your iPhone to your Mac, or try to recover the photos from the old iPhoto Library on your Mac?
What is the situation of your Mac now? In hat way did it crash? A hardware problem with the drive? Does the system not start properly? Does iPhoto not launch? Do you still have the iPhoto Library on your mac or a backup, so we could try to rescue the photos there?
What versions of iPhoto are on your iPhone and your Mac?
however the iPhone iPhoto app still has these photos so how can i access the package contents to recover these photos?
On the iPhone you cannot access the "package contents" - IOS hides the file system from the users. To restore photos from your phone share all iPhoto photos to your Camera Roll, that are not already in the Camera Roll,  and then connect the iPhone via USB and import the Camera Roll to iPhoto or Image Capture. Or use any of the other sharing methods described on thos manual page: see:  Ways to share photos http://help.apple.com/iphoto/iphone/2.0/?handbuch#blnk7d8f763e
To retrieve photos from a corruptrd iPhoto Library on your Mac we need to know the version number and more about the "crash" you experienced, the state of your mac, the system, the data. Please post back with more details.

  • Itunes will not load all songs onto my IPOD or start Itunes when connected

I have a new 80GB Ipod. Two problems I have noticed.
    1. Itunes has 1609 songs. My IPOD only shows 1603. I have made sure all the boxes on the left colume of Itunes are all checked. Am I doing something wrong.
    2. Just this past week when I connect my IPOD to my computer (PC -windows XP) it does not start Itunes. I do have that option checked. It connects fine when I open Itunes on the computer after the IPOD is connected or if I already have Itunes open then connect the IPOD.

Just try this on that one song first....the first one it stopped on.
Take it out of the itunes library list. If it asks about putting it in the recycle bin, say NO.
Then add it back into the itunes library. Will it sync now?

  • How can I sync bookmarks from my iPad BACK to ie6? My laptop had a rebuild and I lost all of my ie6 favourites, but they ar still on my iPad as bookmarks - just can figure out how to transfer back. I have ipad2 and ios5

My laptop running ms and outlook had to be re-loaded and as a result I lost all of my Internet explorer favourites. As I run iTunes on my laptop I do have all of th favourites synced through iTunes to my ipad2. How can I reverse synch my ipad2 so that the bookmarks are transferred back to my outlook pc

Follow the instructions here >  Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices
Make sure you select, "Bookmarks" in the iCloud window.
"Outlook 2007 or 2010 is required for accessing iCloud email, contacts, and calendars. Safari 5.1.1 or Internet Explorer 8 or later is required for accessing bookmarks."

  • How can I transfer all songs on my Ipod to my Itunes library on my mac?

Blank i tunes libarary on mac book. Want to transfer songs from my ipod to itunes.

The music sync is one way -computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases.  File>Transfer Purchases.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

  • Ipod not syncing correctly and songs skipping on ipod but not itunes/wmp

My old ipod was having this same issue(so I presumed it was broken) and I wanted to get a new one as the old one was an 8 gig and didnt really have enough size for me so I bought a new 32 gig ipod. Unfortunately this new one is having the exact same problem and I cannot figure out why. I've tried uninstalling itunes and all the other apple programs and reinstalled them all and I've tried converting the songs to AAC but these have had no effect.
The songs play perfectly in both itunes and windows media player it's just when they transfer over to the ipod the problems start. Usually what happens is the song plays for xx seconds then the sound stops but the song continues playing on the ipod if I leave it alone the ipod skips to the next song but if I force it to speed up eventually the song kicks in again but at a different point. Other times the song will play out of sequence and will sound completely disjointed.
Another problem that keeps cropping is when trying to sync the ipod it will get about half way and randomly cut out on one song telling me it's corrupt but it's always a different song and will happily skip over previous songs that caused a problem when I run it again.
I would import all the music again but I don't have access to the CDs as I am out of the country for a year, I didn't buy any of the songs through itunes so can't re-download them either.
I am running vista 64 bit but I used the 64 bit installer so I'm not sure if that would really cause any problems or not and yes I made sure the ipod is up to date and I have tried resetting it numerous times.

It's hard to say without a lot more information; Here's a sample of things that would need to be answered in order to really determine the cause:
*Age of the computer and/or hard drive
    *What application(s) are installed
What updates occurred or new applications were installed before the issues started popping up
    *Whether files/folders have been deleted
About the only one that really matters for you now is the age of your hard drive. Most hard drives last for 3~5 years, and the hard drives on the newest iBooks (from 2005) would be nearing that 4-year mark. If you've never had your hard drive replaced, there is the possibility that the hard drive is failing. Hard drive failures can result in software corruption--which would be the issues you're seeing.
What you want to do from now on is make sure you have all your important data backed up (and all installation CDs/DVDs accounted for, just in case) and monitor the machine. If the odd behaviors return, we may have to do more troubleshooting.
    Good luck!

  • Keep songs on the ipod, but not itunes

How do I keep stuff on my ipod, but not on my computer?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You will need to enable manual updating...
    Transfer music manually
Now, when you delete songs from your computer, they will stay on your iPod.

  • I lost all songs on my Ipod Touch

I don't sync my IPod Touch because I have 120 GB of music in ITunes.  So, I manually drag and drop from my library to my IPod.  I did it once, then, for some reason, they all disappeared.  For some other odd reason, the playlist was still left...just no actual music left.  So, I reloaded the Ipod again...3400 or so songs, manually, and it dropped them all again.  I have the box checked in preferences to prevent IPods from syncing automatically.  I am leary about loading the IPod again because it takes several days to do it.  I am using an Intel Imac.  Any ideas?

I figured it out myself by searching for sync Ipods in ITunes Help.  I was hesitant to sync my IPod because I thought it would wipe it clean..pictures and everything.  But, it did not.  I made a playlist of all the songs I wanted to transfer to my IPod.  Then I followed the directions in Help and synced it.  It loaded 3523 songs in a few minutes.  I was amazed it worked.

  • My mini iPad just lost all my email content. Everything is gone.  I cannot receive emails on it either. I shut pad. Still nothing.

I just lost all my email information on my 8.1 mini iPad - everything is gone my drafts my sand all of a sudden it just went. I shut it off and turned it back on still nothing I also cannot receive any emails but it  shows I am connected

See if any of the following clears them. Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't remove them then try closing the Mail app via the taskbar : double-click the home button to open the taskbar and then swipe or drag the Mail app's 'screen' up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
Also do a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Ipod touch just lost all wi-fi capabilities. full new ipod restore did nothing to change it, can't retype passcodes etc because it does not even find any wireless network to join. thoughts?

ipod touch just lost all wi-fi capabilities. full restore as new ipod did nothing to change it. I cannot enter pass codes etc because there are no wi-fi networks found to join, despite other apple devices finding my wireless just fine, all sitting at same desk (and the airplane mode is off). thoughts?

  • Lost All Songs, Movies, ETC. After I Registered My IPod

    Hi all,
I loaded up my 80GB IPod with songs, audiobooks, TV, etc. All was fine. Now, everything is gone off the IPod except the one photo I placed on it via IPhoto and one game. Is it possible that when I later registered the IPod (I had forgotten to do that), that it wiped out all the content? All items still appear in I-Tunes, just gone from IPod.
Thanks for any insight you might provide.

if you performed an ipod restore to get to the ipod registration bit then yeah it will wipe of all the stuff youve got on your ipod. but atleast youve still got all your music and video files in itunes

Go to the iTunes Store, log into your account, and click the Purchases link under the Quick Links. From there you should be able to re-download some or all of your purchased content. Note that not all content has been licensed for re-downloading in all countries at this time; you can see what content you can download here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085
You can also re-download content using an iOS device.
    For more information, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
This if course will not apply to songs you did not buy through the iTunes Store.
