I just ordered a Internet blast like 5 hours ago..I was wondering when can i get the Internet Blast Speed? like do i need to activate something? or do anything with my modem to activate my Blast internet?

Hey there I've just ordered my macbook (2ghz white, 80gb atm drive and 1 gb) over the net (no apple stores anywhere near me..) and I was just wondering something.
I will be using this macbook for internet (wireless), garageband, imovie and idvd. Is the specs ok? This is my first EVER mac so I'm kinda new to this. I will be purchasing an external hard drive for better storage as I know film files and music files get big.
Any advice would be appreciated

Hi, Just ordered a T400s it will come with Vista business english 3 questions: i think i will upgrade with win 7 home premium (either dutch or english) and because the machine has 4GB of Ram i think it'l be wise to use 64 bit?? (use photoshop cs4, windows office, internet) Can i buy an upgrade and do a clean and fresh install? Are the new software and drivers for this machine with win 7 available yet?
If you just bought the Vista machine it is probably eligible for the Windows 7 Upgrade Program.
Yes I would recommend 64-bit to make use of all of your 4GB RAM. If you start with 32-bit VIsta, you must do a clean install. If you start from 64-bit Vista, you can do an upgrade or clean install, your choice.
Released Windows 7 drivers are already starting to appear on the support pages. The official schedule is "on or about October 22nd". Beta drivers have been available for a while.

Hi all, a newbie here as Ive just ordered my infinity package, I'll be coming over from sky broadband so hopefully it will seem like trading in a Skoda and getting a Ferrari, I'm just wondering though how much speed I'll lose if I dont connect through ethernet cable, all I will be connecting is one laptop, 2 phones, and an xbox 360, the laptop and xbox will be in the same room as the homehub but are both situated away from it so having them attached by cable will look messy but not impossible, any help is much appreciated....
P.s The smile on my face this morning as I rang to cancel my order for 50mb V***** broadband as I realised Infinity was now available to me was so big the wife thought I'd won the lottery...leafs1201 wrote:

Click on your wireless icon, botom right of your screen.
At the bottom of the list of nearby wireless stations is.-
Open Network Sharing Centre.
Click on that.
Another box opens and where it says Access type Internet...
CONNECTIONS BTHub3-HN6J You should recognise your SSID (wireless name)
Click on that name next to connections.
Another box pops up and about half way down just above signal quality you will see SPEED.
Typically this will show 54Mbps for wireless g
Anything above that ie 65/72Mbps is wireless n.
You can click on the details button in that box and then a further list of information appears.
Second line from top shows something like.-
DESCRIPTION : Broadcom 802 11n Network adapter.
Or maybe b/g.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Changing your ISP may cause some issues but not so far as I am aware a problem with it connecting to your TV.
Have you changed anything else, what troubleshooting steps have you taken so far. -
Just ordered MSI Neo Platinum 250GB from dabs.co.uk, got a few Q's...
Well, first post at my future forum seeing as i've just ordered an MSI Neo Platinum from dabs.co.uk (never usually order from there, was the only place it was listed). By the looks of things, it's not going to be out for a week or so (keeps saying 3-4 days on site) so I might as well ask a bit about it to whet my appetite. Sorry if this stuff has been asked before...
Is it very possible that MSI will release a BIOS update to go higher on the ole FSB than 300Mhz... say 350Mhz?
Also, is 2.85 the max voltage that can ever be given to us without a volt-mod... could a BIOS update theoretically offer more or is that the limit? and i'm planning on running 10*245 at least with my watercooling, and it's just not enough for high FSB with BH-5...
And lastly, i'm thinking of trying a few different types of memory with the thing in search of best performance, is it tru that the NF3 and A64 performs well with higher latency PC4000+ memory, and also using a 5:4 divider like P4's?
That'll do for the mo, hope someone can get me up to speed. Oh and one last thing, and ETA on when the board will be released to suppliers in the UK? I've got the CPU but no mobo... arrrghh! :D

Rich.Well, I haven't had to mess with memory timings at all. I've tried four different brands of memory and they've all worked. Kingmax MPXC22D, Kingston KVR400X64C25, Infineon PC3200, and one other - Samsung I think. Right now I'm running 2~512 sticks of double-banked Infineon. The Athlon64 3000+ is an awesome CPU. I thought my Barton 2500+ was fast. This makes that one seem ssssllllllooooowwwww. I've had my system up and running for a couple months now, with only a BIOS flash problem to talk about. It is a very stable, fast machine. Anyhow, I'm also waiting for the MSI K8N Neo Platinum and the Athlon 3400+ w/512Mb Cache (Newcastle), or the newer 3700+.

Problem: slow connection. I have an iMac (2007) running on Mac OS X 10.6.8. I just had my internet speed increased from 1 to 3 Mbps but my connection slowed down considerably. Do I have to change any setting on the computer, and how?
One possibility is that you may need to "Upgrade" your Cable /DSL Modem if you have an older unit. ISP's that provide your Internet service in recent years have been switching over from DOCSIS 2.1 version Modems to DOCSIS 3.0 version Modems, which handle the new higher data streaming speeds the ISP's are offering. I would suggest you call your ISP's Technical Support and inquire about this possibility.

Since you give no clue as to what make/model/version WiFi router you are using or how you have it configured it's hard to comment.

I just ordered a macbook mc207ll/a online that is running Sow leopard, will I be able to upgrade to yosemite?
Just make sure you update it to 10.6.8 (the last version of Snow Leopard) once you get it if it isn't running it already. Just go to the menu and then Software Update. This will give you access to the App Store which is needed to download Yosemite.

Have you tried returning a photo book that has a binding problem? I just ordered 2 large hardcover photobooks and one arrived with the inside binding messed up. Do you know how this can get corrected? They were over $80 and it seems they should not be flawed. I would appreciate any tips. lindajenkins

I dropped my mac pro. The disc drive plays but will not record. medium drive error. How hard is it to replace the drive my self. i see screws on the bottom. Could I just order a new internal drive and replace it? Or is it too complicated for the average person? Would be cheaper to buy an external drive than to replace internal one? Any advice is appreciated

That depends on your skill level, if you grew up tearing things apart and putting them together, its absurd how easy it is.
For some however its too daunting. On a general skill level for the "average" person its about a 3 out of 10 in difficulty.

Had it with Dell, just ordered a Mac Mini
For a number of reasons (that are so boring it will likely kill anyone who reads them so I won't post them here) I am going to throw my 6 month old top of the line Dell XPS in the pool.
I just ordered a Mac Mini and I can't tell you how happy I am. However I was wondering if there is anything I should expect, we warned of when I make the conversion.
Are there any problems I should expect?
How hard is it to get my "Stuff" from a pc to a Mac?
Will I be able to read/use my excel and word files?
Will the Mac work with my Dell monitor? It's a pretty nice monitor 27" inch monitor, and besides the fact that it has the Dell name on it there's nothing wrong with it. I've seen a couple of posts here that people are unable to connect the Mac to a TV through an HDMI port.
After getting the iPhone I knew that I had to make the move to Apple and I can't wait. Any info would be appreciated.

Most word processing and spreadsheet and photo files could be easily moved by putting them on an inexpensive USB "thumb" or "flash" drive. That's how I would transfer them. Or you could burn them to a CD or DVD on your DELL.
Your Mini should have a trial version of Mac MS Office 2004. It should be able to open most of your PC files, depending on how you saved them. MS will be coming out with a newer Mac version early next year.
A free option that would open just about all of them (and more than Office 2004 can) is NeoOffice ( http://neooffice.org ). That's what I use.
If your Dell monitor has a VGA or DVI port it should work fine, unless it requires a Dual Link card to drive it. What model is your monitor?
The new Minis now come with 1 Gig of RAM which is adequate for OK performance. If you ordered 2 Gig, multi-tasking will be snappier. -
I just ordered a macbook air today and need to know if the 128gb SSD is enough space. I presently have a macbook pro and am using only 30gb hard drive space so, the apple rep said 128 is enough as I do not load much pictures or gaming etc. Also is i5 ok.
Id choose the I5 yes, depends on what your usage is going to be,
....your question about "128 gig being enough" begs the question for IDEALIZED USE of your macbook AIr
In the case of a Macbook Air with ‘limited’ storage on the SSD, this distinction becomes more important in that in an ever rapidly increasing file-size world, you keep vital large media files, pics, video, PDF collections, music off your SSD and archived on external storage, for sake of the necessary room for your system to have free space to operate, store future applications and general workspace. You should never be put in the position of considering “deleting things” on your macbook SSD in order to ‘make space’.
*Generally, unless you NEED the data at least once every few weeks or once a month,...it really does'nt NEED to be on the SSD of your Macbook Air.
Professionals who create and import very large amounts of data have almost no change in the available space on their computers internal HD because they are constantly archiving data to arrays of external or networked HD.
Or in the case of the consumer this means you keep folders for large imported or created data and you ritually offload and archive this data for safekeeping, not only to safeguard the data in case your macbook has a HD crash, or gets stolen, but importantly in keeping the ‘breathing room’ open for your computer to operate, expand, create files, add applications, for your APPS to create temp files, and for general operation.
Ive got more APPS than any human should have on my 128gig AIR,..(50 or so),....and 10gig of working data, important files etc etc.
Still have 82gig available....... the entire point is that someone shouldnt consider the Air a "storage device" for tons of pics, music, vids, etc.
*Never consider any computer a data storage device at any time under any circumstance, rather a data creation, sending, and manipulation device. Anyone who thinks data is safe on any computer, even copied upon multiple partitions is making a mistake that will, without fail, strike.
For needs of packing around a LOT of "big data" with your Air in its case..., get a nice 1TB HD for $70, or even a 2TB drive not much bigger.
