  • I just bought a brand new Photoshop CS5.

I just bought a brand new Photoshop CS5. When I start the installing from the cd I have to type in my serial number, which is <serial number removed> The installer says "This serial number is used for Photoshop CS5" all is good. After installing the program, I start it for the first time. Then I have to type in my serial number again for Photoshop CS5 Extended Trial, but now it says "This serial number is not valid for this product".
What is wrong? What am I doing wrong?

I am guessing that you do not want to use the CS5 Extended version if you only purchased the non-extended version.  Serial numbers are product specific.  If you continue to have problems, contact Adobe support thru chat:

I just purchased and downloaded Adope Photoshop Elements 10 to my new Mac.  I cannot find, and cannot open, the program.

Well, it should be in your downloads folder. If it's really not anywhere, I would try downloading the trial, where it's easier to figure out which is the correct file, and you can enter your serial number into that, same as into the purchased download.

I recently purchased an upgrade to Photoshop CS6. (Dec 9 2014).  I have today downloaded the file (Photoshop_13_LS16.7z
    This downloaded OK
When I tried to run the file (Winzip) I got the following message
"Installer failed to initialise. Could be due to a missing file.  Please download Abobe support adviser."
I tried to do that and it told me Adobe support adviser no longer exists.
Could you please advise a solution.

Extract it to a different location inside a dedicated folder and make sure to not destroy the file and folder hierarchy inside the archive. also run the install with sufficient user privielges and security stuff turned off.

It requires the full Retail version to get Loeopard/10.5, ($129), now there is a $29 Snow Leopard /10.6 Disc, but...

  • Just purchased an upgrade from CS5.5 to CS6 : "valid serial number but no eligible product has been detected"... Any ideas?

    Hi,
just purchased finally the upgrade for CS6 from CS5.5 Design Premium. I have a BIG problem. When I run the installation file, I put the serial for the upgrade => OK, then I have this message : "valid serial number but no eligible product has been detected", and asks me to put a serial of my actual version. I choose "Design Premium CS 5.5" with the good serial number and then I have this message : "the serial number did not match with a eligible product. Please enter an other serial"... Any ideas???
Thank you and sorry for my bad english.

  • Upgrade to Photoshop CS5 from CS3/CS2/6.0

I purchased Adobe Photoshop 6.0, then upgraded to CS2, then CS3.
    Can I upgrade to CS5?
If so, can I install the trial and later activate it once I have the key?
Since the key is an upgrade key, what is it going to ask for to verify the fact that the CS3 version (which was an upgrade) was based on a full retail version?
The reason for all these questions is that I'm going to be upgrading from Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit. I'd like to just install Photoshop CS5 and try it out, then order the upgrade to complete the install later. I'm concerned about an upgrade not being appropriate (1) and a need to install Photoshop CS3 completely and then run the update to CS5. If I have to do that, I may just install CS3 after my Windows upgrade.
Thanks in advance for your responses. While I did see some questions about upgrading, I missed this exact scenario if it was previously posted.

The upgrade process is really quite straightforward these days - even on a new box which has never previously had Adobe software installed.
Upgrades are as good as full versions once installed. When installing upgrades, all that matters is that you have a serial number to an earlier qualifying version handy - Adobe has given up tracing this all the way back to your full version which could be up to 20 years ago. Upgrade serial numbers can only be verified by serial numbers up to 3 versions back anyway so Photoshop CS does not qualify for a CS5 upgrade.
There's no need to install older versions on a new computer before installing the CS5 upgrade version. It's actually the full code on the disk regardless of whether you purchased a full version or an upgrade - the serial number tells the installer if you've bought an upgrade or full version license.
When you enter your upgrade serial number for CS5, the installer will ask you to enter an earlier qualifying serial number (full or upgrade does not matter). I've successfully completed this exact scenario myself several times.
The only caveat to the above is that there is a world of difference in licensing terms (and serial numbers) between a suite and a standalone version. If you install a CS5 suite trial then want to keep just the Photoshop component (and enter its serial number), you'll have to uninstall the entire suite first then install the upgrade version of standalone Photoshop CS5. Then enter your CS5 serial number then verify by entering your CS3 serial number.

  • Upgrading from Photoshop CS5 to Photoshop CC

I'm an amateur photographer and home user of Photoshop CS5. The last full version of Photoshop I purchased was CS2; since then I've upgraded periodically, and I'm now using CS5. At the same time, I've replaced my PC several times, and managed to install Photoshop each time. The copy currently installed on my PC is the CS5 upgrade.
When I purchased this current PC about a year ago, I had some difficulty installing and registering the program, and I wound up calling Adobe tech support. (The difficulty involved the fact that the only full version I had was the old CS2). They led me through a process that eventually enabled me to use CS5 on this PC.
Now I'm strongly considering moving up to Photoshop CC which, unless I misread something, includes Lightroom for desktop and mobile, plus Photoshop CC. My questions are as follows:
Is there any upgrade path from CS5 to CC? I figure it can't hurt to ask, in case I can save some money on the upgrade.
What is the preferred procedure for installing CC on a computer with CS5 installed? Should I uninstall CS5 before installing CC to guarantee a "clean" installation? I don't have a whole lot of preferences or saved settings to be concerned about, so that's not an issue.
    --Larry

There is no reason to uninstall CS5 unless you have no reason to keep it.  Below is a link to a page that shows the various subscription plans available.  There is one that is a special rate for Photoshop and Lightroom.  I do not think CS5 qualifies you for a further discount on that package, but there is a special rate for another package if you are a CS owner.

  • CS6 upgrade for photoshop CS5 gives errors

I recently purchased your Photoshop CS6 upgrade.  I had been using Photoshop CS5 previously.  When I entered my serial number I got a message stating that no qualifying product can be found on my computer.  In the product drop down box I found and selected CS5 but when I enter the serial number of my CS5 Master Collection (which Photoshop was part of it) I get a error saying that serial number is not for a qualifying product.
    What should I do?

You cannot upgrade a component of a Creative Suite to the next version - which is what it sounds like you're attempting.
e.g. you cannot upgrade to Photoshop CS6 using the Photoshop CS5 from Master Collection CS5.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/faq.html#upgrade-eligibility
"Am I eligible for upgrade pricing from an earlier Creative Suite edition to an individual CS component?
No. Adobe does not offer upgrade pricing for customers wishing to move from a suite edition to an individual CS component. For complete upgrade information for the product you are interested in, consult the upgrade eligibility chart on that product's buying guide page."
From Master Collection CS5, you can only upgrade to a CS6 Suite (does not have to be Master Collection CS6).
If Photoshop CS6 is all you want then either purchase a full version of CS6 or consider joining the Cloud.

  • Upgrade to Photoshop CS5

How can i make an upgrade from Photoshop CS2 to CS5? And what would be the price?

CS6 is the only version available as an upgrade at this time.  While CS2 would not have qualified for an upgrade even before January, as of January only versions CS5 and newer are available for upgrade.
You cannot purchase CS5 throught Adobe.  CS6 is what is currently for sale.

  • Can I upgrade from Photoshop CS5 Extended to Photoshop CS 6, because I don't use the 3D features.

Can I upgrade Photoshop CS5 Extended just to Photoshop CS6, because I don't use the 3D features. I only use the picture corrections and special picture features?

Yes you can upgrade to CS6 Standard from CS5 Extended for $199.
If you are in another country, check your local Adobe Store and Click on Photoshop CS6 Upgrade, there is a dropdown list of qualifying products under "I own..."
