I just purchased the new iMac. Need more firewire connections
24-inch, 2.8Ghz 2GB Ram. It's a great computer. Only thing is I need more firewire ports for hard drive, scanner and M-audio interface. We can't plug them in all at once. Any solutions out there? I wasn't impressed with the Apple Store's Belkin Firewire Hub. I could use an extra port for my ipod too.
What is the best solution?

Do any of your devices have multiple firewire ports so that you can daisy chain them? My external hard drive has two ports and happily works in this fashion allowing additional devices on the chain. I have not noticed any difference in speed.

Having access to an external drive will solve the problem. As long as it has a USB cable you should be able
to plug it into your iMac, spot the disk icon on your desktop and insert the installer disks and load the software.

My ISP is virgin media wireless (just purchased). My email account is AOL when I log into my email account the page is not the same as my on my old computer. Thinking it is because I do not have the latest version I downloaded the 9.0 version but when I try to open it for some reason mac enters the down load into an email. After much hair pulling I send it to my email account to open but am unable to open it any ideas please ?
Not possible via Apple's target display mode. This Apple article has the details:

Just purchased a new iMac and after transferring all info from my old iMac. Now when using iPhoto slideshow it displays the pictures in reverse order.
There's a bug in iPhoto 9.5.1 and Mavericks that affects slideshows played directly from an album. The slideshow will not play correctly if the photos have been sorted manually. Any other type of sort, date, rating, keyword or title, will play correctly.
If you need that manual sort of pictures for your slideshow create the slideshow in iPhoto's slideshow mode.

Yes, just install as you normally would using the serial number you originally used.
You did not have to uninstall on the old machine - with your single user license you are allowed to have two activated installations. So feel free to reinstall it if those are the only two machine you plan to have it on and you'd like to have a backup installation. -

I have just purchased a new iMac 27. Is this device able to support multiple monitor set-up (an additional two screens)? I am not a gamer, so require the set-up for 'office suite' type work and video viewing. if the set-up is possible, what would I need, is it pretty straight forward and are there any draw backs?

Just purchased a new iMac running 10.9.5, needing a version of illustrator. Do I go with CS6 hard copy or down load or CC? I have 17 years of illustrator files some il 7 some CS. Can you save back to Legacy with CC?
Really need to be able to save back to the older versions, in order to output vector files on an older plotter. Running an older application of Mac sign from Softeam, can't get in touch with them. Total pain to upgrade, been dumbing down for too many years.

Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when opening iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ (or C:\Username\Music\iTunes\ in Vista). Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

I have just purchased a new iMac and this is all new to me as it is so different from my PC. I am trying to transfer my iTunes from my PC onto the iMac, I have got as far as pasting the itunes music folder onto the desktop but I cant seem to transfer that into iTunes on my iMac. I have just purchased a new iMac OS Xlion version 10.7.3 and I'd like to install Windows. I have a disc for XP but the Boot Camp Assistant manual only refers to Windows 7. Please does anyone know if it will it work with XP.?
Get a Virtual Macine software program, Parallels, VMware Fusion or VirtualBox, and install XP in a virtual machine.
You can't install XP in a Boot Camp Partition with Lion or Mt Lion, only Win 7. -
I have just purchased the new macbook pro 15" and see that it comes with 2 discs in the box, one being Mac OS X and the other being Applications Install DVD. Are these pre installed? or do I need to insert the discs and install them?
All has been installed. Those are there in case you need to do a reinstall. Unlike most Windows based hardware vendors these days. Apple still ships software you might need in case a drive fails. Even in the case of the new MacBook Air, Apple ships the software on a flash drive.

I just purchased a new iMac to replace our older one. We are giving our older one to parents and want to wipe the HD. The discs I have for my old iMac is for version 10.5 but I'm currently running 10.6.8. Is there a way to wipe the HD and keep 10.6.8?
No. Wiping the HD will erase the OS on it.
