Just received a new Ipad Air, but IOS version is older than current IPad...can not load backup...How do I upgrade IOS version?

In order to upgrade the new Air 2, I had to select "set up as new" from the menu. So, after the IOS upgrade is done, how do I "restore" the data that is backed up on icloud from my old Ipad?  I don't see a menu item for that . . .
    Thanks

  • HT4137 Just received a new iPad 3 & it is locked up.  The only message I get is: iPad not backed up.  This iPad hasn't been backed up. Backups happen when this iPad is plugged in, locked & connected to Wi-Fi. The iPad is locked up & can only turn it off.

Have I received a new iPad from the distributor?  How can I unlock the iPad?

Keep the Powerbutton and the Homebutton pressed at the same time until you see the Apple logo on your iPad screen.
Then try to connect with your computer and iTunes; http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

  • I just received my new iPad air and would like to download or transfer my data from my old iPad to my new one.  I have to return my old iPad to my company On Monday and I wish to save as much data as possible

I just purchased a new iPad air and need to transfer the data from my old iPad to the new one.  I have to return my old iPad to my company on Mon 2/17/14

Connect the old iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy your purchases off it and over to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, then take a backup of it (File > Devices > Back Up) and restore that backup onto the new iPad (restoring a backup onto a different device won't copy passwords, so you will need to enter your email account passwords, router password, and any passwords stored on Safari on your new iPad).

  • I have just received my new 160GB ipod... - some questions! Please help.

    Hi,
I have just received my new 160GB ipod and have a few questions.
    1. I have been using a 3rd generation ipod for the past few years. I have an ipod dock that I got with that, can I use that with a firewire charger to charge the ipod?
    2. I do not want a big bulky case for the ipod. I have read that the front of the classic does not scratch very easily as the screen is glass. Can anyone confirm if this is true??
I was going to buy some kind of a shield until i read this... do I need one?
    - What about the back of the ipod? How could I go about protecting this? Does anyone know if the Belkin protective overlays for ipod video fit? (Shown here - http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=257250).
I have ordered some ipod socks off amazon (found some very cheap if anyone is interested - shown here http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0007TXTB6/). As I don't want a bulky case, will these protect my ipod enough?
Sorry for all the questions, just that I have got my iPod but don't really want to use it until i've got some scratch protection on it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

Jake, you can charge with a firewire cable but you won't be able to sync or transfer.
The Classic has a polycarbonate screen. Only the iPhone (Touch?) has a glass one.

  • My mother just got an new ipad, first version.  How do I get her email address book to show on her ipad gmail?  Thanks

My mother just purchased a new ipad, first version.  How do I get her gmail addess book to show on her ipad.  She can receive emails but cannot access her addrsss book to send an email.
    Thanks

If she is using the mail app, there doesn't appear to be a way to sync contacts directly with gmail. You might see if there is a way to export to a Mac desktop and then to use iTunes to sync the contacts to the iPad. Otherwise the contacts will have to be manually added to the iPad. Another option would be to use gmail's web based mail. Her contacts should be available from there.

  • Receiving the new iPad :)

I'm on the east coast, in PA. It is March 16th! Yes, it's only 1:00am, but March 16th nonetheless! :)
This past week has been fun. I keep hearing about all the fun people who are camped out in front of Apple Stores right now are having- sharing an experience, and enjoying conversation with "like minded people". Well, here at this discussion board, we have been doing the same thing- ALL week. :) Its a bit different, yet no different.  It's been a really fun week chatting with everyone about order dates, times and locations. Then, later on about couriers, ship dates and tracking info. I'm still amazed at the journey that some of our iPads have been on! They have traveled the world. It's also quite impressive how Apple has coordinated the deliveries of who knows how many new iPads. Pretty fascinating stuff! :) although not perfect, the whole process still impressive nonetheless. :) This past week was really fun, and a nice diversion to the daily stresses that are "everyday life". It was fun feeling like a kid again, eagerly awaiting a new toy. :) The anticipation is half the fun! (although waiting for new iPads can also be stress- inducing, in many cases, too ;)).
The big date is finally here. :) The day many of us have been waiting for.
I'd love to hear about people's reactions and experiences once the new iPads begin to be delivered and the boxes are opened up, and the new iPads are finally home where they belong! :) Can't wait to hear about the new iPads, themselves, and how great the screen resolution is!
This great day is finally here, the day some of us will begin receiving our new iPads! :)

Yes, and thank you to all of the people who actually made the new iPads. Glad you pointed that out. A lot of hard work went into that.
I also read about all of the extra security and trucks that Fed Ex and UPS had for the new iPads. I was wondering how none of them managed to accidentally get delivered before today, and none would be stolen from the waiting areas. I thought surely at least a few would slip through the cracks, but, none did! If they had, we surely would have heard about it. :) That's an amazing operation they have set up. I'm sure it's something to see!
We are impatient, and want everything "yesterday". I know I am, anyway! But, I've never had so much fun waiting for a delivery before, especially for something I've been waiting for for months! Yes, I feel like a kid! :) Except, I'm an adult who works very, very hard, and don't treat myself to all that much, and I feel that I deserve to buy myself something nice. What's the point of all of my hard work for the most MISERABLE, rotton and nasty boss on the face of the earth, for 50+ hours per week, if I can't splurge and treat myself to something nice once in a while? That's how I feel. I deserve this new iPad, for sure! Major difference from being a kid! But, fun feeling like one! :)
I wasn't aware of any new products. Something else to look forward to! I ordered a Smart Case, but, didn't open it yet. Can't wait to hear about new covers that may cover the back. I'll take back my Smart Cover that I just had delivered, then, and get a new one. Or, if they too are sold out, I'll wait for one. I really would like to cover the back to prevent any scratches or damage. I've been looking for a back cover that will work with the Smart Cover, so, this is good news! :)
As much as I hate my job, and hate my boss, I'm really looking forward to going to work today! Work is where my new iPad will be delivered to me! :) :) And, I'm off this weekend. :) do I can play with my new iPad all weekend! It'll probably take me that long to figure out how to set it up. This is my first one. I have the iPhone4, but obviously, that was already set up for me. I bought an iPad2 back at the end of Hanuary, but took it back and waited for the new one. That too, though, was set up for me in the Apple Store! So, this will be interesting! If I need help setting it up, if I go to the Apple Store tomorrow, do you think they'll help me set it up? Or do you have to purchase it there in order for them to help?
Just checked tracking, no new movement posted, although I'm pretty sure my iPad surely must have arrived in my city by now, but just hasn't been updated yet.
I wonder if the delivery trucks will also have security to protect all if the iPads while the drivers are out if their trucks making the deliveries?

I have receive my new ipad 2 last wek and found scratched behind.what should the steps to cliam at JB area

The iPad was sealed in the box when I got it. It had the plastic screen protector wrapped all around it and when I powered it on for the first time it displayed the "connect to iTunes for setup" message displayed. The only other thing I can think of is if the person I bought it from had ordered it through Verizon on and the iPad was set up on a number on his pre-existing verizon account. My question is should I just keep using it and consider myself lucky? Since there is no way for Verizon to charge me for the usage because I never signed a contract. I realize that if it is on the account belonging to the person I bought it from, they will eventually figure this out and shut it off. But I might as well use it in the meantime right?

  • Just got a new iPad. How do I move my Game Center games?  I keep getting another family member's account because we share our Apple ID.

Family member's Game Center on my iPad!

Okay so I figured out the solution by reading other discussions. Basically you need to delete on your phone the icloud account and start up a new icloud account with a new email address. This is nice because you can still share apps without getting everyone elses things. The only thing that didn't get worked out was the notes...
On your phone go to settings and then icloud, scroll down and delete the account. Then just make a new icloud under a new email.

I just got a new ipad air. Hundreds of emails keep papering from earlier times. I can't get them to delete ALL at one time. What do I need to do?

You need 8 characters or more to connect.

  • Just got 4 new iPads, Do I need separate Apple IDs for each one?

Right now I have 3 iPods and 2 iPhones connected to my PC using 1 Apple ID.
Question: I just purchased 4 new iPads. One of the iPads is for me and the 3 others are for my children. Should I setup the 4 new iPads under my existing Apple ID or should set up a new Apple ID for EACH of the new iPads?

It would be a good idea to set up separate apple ID's for each. One reason is just to avoid any confusion over anything such as icloud synchronisation. Spending on your credit card so maybe purchase gift cards for their accounts so they have some money to spend on apps. It could cause a few problems mainly due to icloud, photos syncing, password synchonisation and it only takes a few minutes to set up an account. If you don't want to put a credit card on their accounts you can set it up without an account but i'd suggest using a computer to set it up as in my experience i couldnt set up an account without a card on an iphone or ipad etc.
you could put your card on their ipads and enforce a restriction on buying apps where you would need to enter a code to authorise it.
    Hope it helps
