When you attempt to reinstall, it will ask for the AppleID.

A fundamental property of every battery is that whenever it isn't being charged, it's draining. If your compputer is shut down entirely, expect the battery to lose 0.5-1% per 24 hours without AC power connected. When it's sleeping, it will lose closer to 1% per hour. In either situation, leaving the AC adapter plugged in will prevent the battery from draining more than 5-7% in total before it starts to charge back up again.

Do you mean you have a Macbook Pro (laptop) versus a Mac Pro (desktop)?
You can back up the MBP, restart using Command+R to boot into the Mavericks Recovery HD, erase the Mactintosh HD and Reinstall OS X. Then you can go through setup and configure it with your information and Apple ID. Mavericks should not prompt you for an Apple ID when it goes through the install since that OS is free.
One thing you might want to consider is asking the previous owner to unregister the MBP from his Apple ID if he previously registered it. Then you can register it under your Apple ID.
The previous owner should have wiped it clean and reinstalled the OS that came pre-installed before selling it.

Wipe it clean and restore it. You should then be able to rename the iPod and set up an account with iTunes. I hope this helps!

I just installed lion and suddenly I have problems starting the computer

I installed lion on my mac a week ago (mac 20.5 inch) and suddenly I have problems starting the computes, sometimes, but lately almost always, it takes a long time to start up (more than 2 min) and then the keyboard does not work and the mouse works partially i.e. the cursor moves but does not respond to clicks, also, when I move the cursor over the dock it does not appear the tag with the application name I'm over, basically I can't do anything except reboot the hard way. After a few times it usually stops happening but I don't know why exactly. Sometimes after rebooting a message appears indicating that I restarted the computer after having a problem and asks me if I want to open all the applications that I had in the previous session (in this case none) when I say yes the problem keeps happening but when I say no the problem stops. To make thins even more difficult just now it didn't let me choose "cancel" because the keyboard and the mouse have the same problems I explained before.

Are they each separately paired with the computer via BT preferences?
You also can check your Startup Disk preferences by selecting your startup volume then clicking on Restart. Does this cause a faster restart?
You might also try booting into Safe Mode then booting normally. Safe mode takes considerably longer for startup and will require you enter your password.

Why do I get some kind of checkerboarding across my display and then a freezeup?

on occasion I get some kind of an odd what I'd call "Checkerboard" on and about my display. It does NOT affect my TV when I'm using it as an outboard 2nd display but on the built in only. Occasionally this ends with the system locking up and I have to reset using the power button. Yesterday it must have taken 4 or 5 resets to finally get things to settle down.

Try restoring the backup again. Your apps and other purchased media should have been restored from your backup if they were on your old phone when you backed it up.

Making a new Apple ID was the worst thing you could of done. This is very bad to do. Not sure why people do that. Your Apple ID is Your Apple ID. You only need one and it is best to only have one Apple ID for all apple devices.
