I just recovered my laptop and trying to download iTunes. In the middle of the download i getting this message ""Apple Mobile Device" failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services". what to do?

i hav just had a recovery on my Hp laptop(windows 7) and when I am trying to download iTunes I get a message who says "
"Apple Mobile Device" failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services"
what to do?

I am having this same problem. I took Kappy advice on restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service, however that did not work. I got this message in a pop up window that came up immediately.
Windows could not start the Apple Mobil Device Service on local computer.
Error 1053  The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
I have already uninstalled itunes, all the related programs and I cannot reinstall, this Apple Mobil Device message stops the install.
Can anyone please help?

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does an iTunes install go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates

  • Reinstalling iTunes and getting message "service 'apple mobile device'failed to start.Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services"

Reinstalling iTunes and getting message "service 'apple mobile device'failed to start.Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services"

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

It very much means what it says - you do not have sufficient administrative privileges and something on your system is blocking the (virtual) PDF printer driver from being installed.

  • TS1424 apple mobile device failed to start. verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services

get error in downloading itunes, apple mobile device failed to start. verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services
    how do I verify?

    Hey there bavalle,
It sounds like you are unable to use iTunes becuase the Apple Mobile Device service failed to start. I would recommend using the following article to turn it back on and set it to automatically start from now on:
How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1567
If this does not resolve the issue, there are also steps in the article about uninstalling iTunes, its associated apps and reinstalling it.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,

  • Having trouble re-installing ituneson my PC. error message half-way through install keeps appearing ""apple mobile device service failed to start. verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

Hello, I am having trouble re-installing itunes on my PC. error message keep popping up "Apple mobile device failed to start, verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

The thread mentioned above now has some out of date direct links. This is a more recent version of that post...
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
