From your backup copy.
You buy one and only one download. it is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your music.
Certainly you did not reload you=r computer without making sure that your backup copy was up to date.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases

I have also noticed all my settings won't stay set, example....I removed the check mark from "third party cookies", the when I close Firefox and reopen the check mark is back, also my tool bar has screwed up....can't reset, been having trouble the up grade.

Or you can go in (letter of the driver):\iPod_Control\Music. To see the iPod_Control folder, You must have the hidden folders option off. If it is near of what i'm trying to explain, you should see 50 folders From F00 to F49. Copy and paste them in your computer. Backing up to iCloud should have nothing to do with how your music plays. Try force-closing the misic app: from the home screen, double-tap the home button, locate Music in the list at the bottom, tap and hold it until it wiggles, tap to close it, tap the home button again. Try your music again.

i was really stupid and followed directions to factory restored my i phone (i was not thinking straight and held down the power off buton and the home page button at the same time then when the apple came up i let go of the power and held down the home button and it factory restored my i phone) i lost all of my memory!! but luckely it was only 2 days of memory but i had bought about 100 songs from i tunes on the phone not on the computer i bought it off the i phone do any of you guys know how to get that music back??? i was not thinking straight when i restored it and if you kn ow how to get contacts back that will also be great thank you so muchh please reply with good and descriptive answers so i can get my 100 bucks back

If the music was purchased on the iphone and you had not did a sync and move it over to the computer, you will need to contact itunes store customer service and let them know what happened.

I have nano 1st generation and got a new computer when reinstalling ipod and itunes, I inadvertenly restored my ipod and wiped it clean of music, so I bought Stella ipod recovery system and it appears to have recovered all my music however i don't know how to get the music back onto my ipod or itunes library? It will only go to windows media player?

Did you use the File -> Add to Library option in iTunes to re-import this music into iTunes? Another way to do the same thing is drag these files from Windows Explorer into iTunes (assuming they are in an iTunes compatible format).

I updated my Touch to 6.0.1 or .2 but now I cannot get my music back on my Ipod. I have sync'd and dragged and dropped and stood on my head in the yard at night during a full moon. Nothing is working. Help before the neighbors complain.

I bought a new laptop over the holidays and decided to finally get my itunes set up on it. I went to itunes and purchased four new songs all excited. I plugged in my...I think..fifth generation ipod touch to the computer. I had the usually update box appear. I decided to do the complete update. I see there are updates to 6.0.1 or 6.0.2. I thought it said 6.0.1. All went well.
l have been able to sync a few times. I now have those four new songs on my ipod. I still have music that appears on my computer in itunes and I am able to play it there. Okay. I hope I can remeber all my steps exactly because I fixed my own problem...with absolutely no help from Apple. I opened itunes. I connected my ipod touch to my computer. On my itunes page that shows my songs in the upper right side under the search library box there is an itunes button and since I am connected there is an ipod button. DO NOT CLICK THE ARROW in the ipod button...just click in the mail part of the button. On mine it opened to a summary page that gave info on my ipod. The menu bar has Summary, Apps, Tones, Music and more. I clicked on the Music button. I chose to Sync the entire music library. That replaced what was on my ipod but what was on there was going to be put back on so I was okay with it. I then clicked the Sync button on the lower right side and it sync'd and all my songs are on my ipod again. I hope this might help someone else. Good luck.

You can. Why do you think you cannot?
If you purchased it on your ipad, then you would have to transfer it to your computer. File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
You can then listen to it on your computer.

Hi Glenn,
You need to Authorize your Mom's computer to your iTunes sign on. Sign on to iTunes, then go to Store at the top of the screen, and select Authorize this Computer.
Then you can download your purchases from your iTunes library by going to the iTunes Store (the one in the sidebar), Music, and then under Quick Links, Purchased.
Once the Purchased window comes up, select "Not on this Computer", and then select All Songs. Your purchased songs will display with a cloud next to them, and you can download them selectively or "Download All" (lower right-hand corner).

I have read the the advice you gave, and I had already tried that. It did not help.
When I tried to download an album with nine songs, (I have paid for the complete album), two songs were missing. One of them has showed up/disappeared a couple of times, but with a cloud/arrow-symbol next to it, what I thought to be a symbol for downloading from the cloud. When I click it, it starts a downloading process, and then I am told it cannot be done, "please try again later". The other song is nowhere to be seen. The song with the cloud/arrow-symbol, I bought 3 times, once with the album, twice just the song. That didn't change matters. iTunes tells me I have downoladed all songs I have purchased.
I do not really understand why you do not understand what I am writing, I only describe what happens when I use iTunes.
If a person want to use iCloud, one needs an iPhone, iPad or an iPod Touch. That information is not given until you have downloaded and installed the iCloud program. That is why I have it on my computer, but cannot use it. To set up an iClod account, you have to connect one of the above mentioned devices. I don't have one, so I cannot do it.
If you want the (13013) problem explained, I suggest you google it. I am not the only one to have that problem.
I am thankful that you spend time on trying to help me, but I cannot explain things clearer than this.
