Assuming this is an iCloud mail account, sign out of iCloud in its preference pane, then sign back in with the new password.

It sounds like you are not able to log into FaceTime after changing your Apple ID password. I would use these troubleshooting steps from the following article to help you troubleshoot the issue:

Use your Apple ID to register and use FaceTime. FaceTime registration validates your Apple ID and email address for use with FaceTime.

Safe mode is not what you want in this case. Reboot to recovery mode - hold down cmd-R as the Mac reboots. Go past the language-selection screen, click the Utilities menu, then Terminal. Type:
resetpassword
Followed by the return key, and follow the prompts. Reboot normally when done.

I changed my Apple ID password and now I can't log into iCloud. In addition I am unable to sign out or exit the iCloud System Preference page and have to force a shut down using the power off button to get rid of it. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

If the Preference Pane hangs, hit comand-option-escape and force quit System Preferences to avoid having to reboot.
In order to sign out you need the original password if you have set up 'Find My ....'. However you can't now change the password back to the original one (as you are not allowed to re-use a password).In this situation only Support can help you.
To contact iCloud Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:

You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee.

I have tried changing my password back to the password I had before and this did not work. I have thought about changing my apple id but am not sure how I would be able to carry over the same credit card number to the new apple ID. The idea to jumpstart by change was not the smartest one, but gives you an opportunity to use that "temporary" account as permanent. You do not have a choice cause obviously despite you thinking that old account is no more -it does exist on Apple servers. And if you are unwilling to share your [email protected] with friend, just create one extra [email protected] for your friend. One suggestion - do not use gmail.

You'd only get that message if iOS 7.0 Beta was installed on this phone. There is no fix. Either return the phone for a refund, or give it back to your boyfriend & have him get it fixed.

Go to Settings > Store, touch your Apple ID, log out, then back in with the updated information. Then go to Settings > iCLoud and verify the correct address. Then do the same in Settings > Messages.......Once all all correct, you should be good to go......

You can sign in using your Apple ID and password on the iPad, but all content downloaded using her Apple ID will be deleted.

HT1349 i have been asked to restore factory setting on my iphone 4S and reset my i tunes password and now my purchased apps are no longer available to me

Changed Apple ID password and now Iphone 6 having issues

I had to reset my password when signing into my apple ID and now my Iphone is having issues. I can not use imessage. Under settings, It will not allow me to turn it on. Also under settings my facetime and iCloud are greyed out. I can using os8.1.2 What am I missing?

I had the exact same problem and this solution from another thread worked for me:
"I was able to fix it by entering another email address even though it was wrong/invalid. Once I got the "incorrect email/password" message I then re-entered my actual apple ID and it finally took it. Make sure FaceTime is enabled and working first."
In the FaceTime App, I entered a fictitious Apple ID and password. Then it actually signed me out. After that, I entered my AppleID and my new password and it did verify my email address.
