Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
1. Right click images you want to share.
2. Select Export version.
3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.

I backed up my Ipone 4s through itunes. however when after I had to restore it to factory settings i then proceeded to restore the backed up files and found that it didn't restore any of my music or apps! is there a way i can get all this back?
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup that iTunes makes. -
I can't be the only person who has this problem with iCal- when a month ends on a Saturday I can't drag events into the next month and instead have to cut and paste - a real pain in the butt. I thought there was something called "scroll" but I can't find that.
Yeah that works, but, it involves a click on the event, a click on edit, a click on the date, keystrokes, plus, since you can't see the next month you have to have a calendar in front of you so as to put it to the right date. It's easier just to cut it and advance the month and paste it, once you are in the right month you can move it around helter skelter willy nilly no problems. Although now that you mention it I will try it, maybe it is easier than cut and paste as I don't really care about the date, as long as it gets moved into the right month I can drag it around all I want.

Create a class that holds the reference to the file and do the whole file manipulation just in that class. than synchronize the read and write methodes. A reference to this file handler class can be stored to the servlet context in one servlet and read out from the servlet context in the other servlet.

After saving project upon reopening one of my video files and it's corresponding audio is red (both are offline). Attempts at relink result in a warning that the audio will be deleted (which is does when tested).
This project is based on a multicam sequence (2 video files) and using Pro CC (latest Cloud build).

First off, some bookkeeping & jargon matters:

My bad - I exported/encoded the sequence to a new output clip.
Now back to our regularly scheduled troubleshooting. Three questions:

I gather that you created the multicam sequence via the new workflow in the Project panel: select the clips, right-click>CreateMulticamSourceSequence. Am I right?
Correct
If so, please create a new sequence, set the timeline to insert sequences as individual clips (via the left-most button under the timecode control), add the multicam sequence to the new sequence, and post a screenshot of the timeline.
Now all of a sudden I am able to open my project file(s) as before with no problems.... very curious.
I did this and then could not find my multicam sequence.... so no screen shot... BUT what happened?

I have dragged 2 files to the trash bin but I cannot delete them from the trash bin. It keeps telling me these files are in use when they are not. How do I delete these files? One is a txt file and the other is an xls file

can append the data
to file. You can use the "concatenate strings" to display the date,

You can find out the directory_object_name value from dba_directories view if you are using the system user account.

VMware Fusion's "Split into 2 GB files" and Time Machine
Hi everyone,
does anybody know for sure it Fusion's option to split VMs into 2 GB files make for a more efficient TM backup?
I know that normally the VM image is seen as 1 large file by TM and therefore gets backuped again if you just had the VM open without doing anything.
Is splitting the VM image into 2 GB chunks avoiding this so that (ideally, without doing much in the VM) I end up with just one or two 2 GB files being backuped? Or will all of the 2 GB files be backuped every single time I ran the VM?

BjörnSplitting to 2GB sounds like a workaround for people who want to store their virtual machines on a FAT filesystem (so that it can be easily shared between a Mac and Windows machine). The FAT filesystem cannot store files larger than 4GB, and it's usually safer to limit to 2GB.
Time machine looks for files that have changed, and backs them up if they have changed. For a 32GB virtual machine, you'll have sixteen 2GB files. Probably at least two or three of them will change every time you use the VM, even if you hardly do anything. So this solution will sort of work, but you'll still be eating up space pretty fast on your Time Machine volume.
I store all of my virtual machines on a sparsebundle disk image. This is a mounted filesystem that seamlessly breaks up the filesystem into many 8MB files. That level of granularity keeps my TM backups small. For example, I have three individual VMs stored on a single sparsebundle volume. They currently occupy 3012 individual 8MB "bundle" files. The last time I used those VMs, I ran software updates on all of them. A total of 118 of those 8MB files changed as a result of the updates, so the TM backup was 944MB. If they were not on a sparsebundle volume, the TM backup would have been about 24GB.
I use Parallels, but the same concept should apply to any application that creates and frequently updates very large files. Use Disk Utility to create the sparsebundle volume. -

I did put my iPod into DFU and iTunes recognized it in restore mode. After restore I am back where I was before - iTunes cannot connect because of an unknown error.
I have installed Jailbreak to see if I can bypass itunes but haven't succeeded. I can't get my computer to recopgnize the iPod as a device.
I'll take it to a Genius bar next time I am in the area of one. Until then I'll probably continue to try hacks to get it connected.
