I just spoke to Apple rep about the Prepared To Ship

Even if your phone does not say prepared to ship but your Delivery say Delivered June 24, you are getting your phone June 24. ABSOLUTELY GETTING IT THAT DAY! Your status will update when it ships even if they expedite your shipping. I only asked about phones ordered on the Apple site but I am sure it is for all June 24th delivery dates. So all of you that are in my boat of NOT YET SHIPPED, rest assured, JUNE 24 is our magical day too!!

This happened last year too. I was one of the people who got a late "prepared for shipment", then I got a late "shipped". My UPS tracking showed it was in China as late as 2am the morning it was supposed to be delivered. At 5am my UPS tracking magically changed to "in transit" within my city. All of this "prepared for shipment" stuff means nothing, everyone that is slated to receive their iPhone on June 24 will get it.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your iPhone. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear what issues you were having that led up to the attempted Erase All, and/or exactly what behavior you are seeing now (restarting, not responding at all, etc). If you are seeing an Apple Logo screen and your iPhone does not appear to be starting correctly, you may find the following articles helpful:

Spoke with APPLE SUPPORT about iWeb1.1

I contacted Apple support about the problem with iweb 1.1. Basically, I informed them of the discussion board and specifically to all the posts with the error messages. Seems like this was news to them. However, the support staffer was going to get it to the iweb engineers or at least make sure that they were aware of the problem(s).
Like many of you I have had trouble with the publication of my site. Let's hope Apple is now fully aware and will let us know soon what is going on.
All we can do now is keep informing Apple of the situation and wait.

You can't. It is locked to the previous owner's account.
Have the previous owner remove the iPhone from their account or get your money back.

What is Apple doing about the "Unable to download" problems?

So, forgive me if these questions have been asked before. But I am new to Apple, just bought an iPhone about 2 months ago. I love my iPhone, but once you start getting into the world of the App store is where the problems seem to start flooding in. Specifically with the downloading and updating portion. Downloading is sometimes a breeze and sometimes a pain as is updating. Some days I have no problems downloading or updating apps. Other days I get error messages such as "unable to download" with an option of "done" or "retry."
The "done" option is worthless because if you select it, the app is still unselectable and will stay that way for days and the only way around it is to delete the app and reinstall if you can even reinstall it without having problems.
The "retry" option is also worthless because as soon as you select that option, not even a second later will the message "unable to download" pop up again.
Some days I get the error message that says something along the lines of unable to download without a wifi connection. That confuses me because there are plenty of times when I have downloaded apps without a wifi connection. So why is it that sometimes I need a wifi connection and other times I dont need it. Second, I am connected to a wifi connection right now and my app still wont update.
I dont know about you, but I sure as **** dont like seeing that red number 1 on my app store every day, but with the problems of updating apps sometimes im forced to just stare at it every time I unlock my phone.
So what is Apple doing about these problems?? Because I've seen alot of threads on this discussion board but they all seem to have the same answers, "turn off the phone then turn it back on" "download over a wifi connection" "delete the app and re install"

Have you called Apple tech support or visited an Apple Store to ask for assistance with the problem? If not, then you really haven't even given Apple the opportunity to assist you with this problem. This is not happening to every iPod touch by any means, so it's most likely an issue with your particular unit. Try the usual steps: restart, reset, restore.

What's Apple saying about the 34 admitted errors in Intel CPUs?

I'm reading a lot about Core Duo and Core Solo errors. 34 of them. Intel intends to fix just one of them.
I'm yet to find an Apple article on the issue.
I had been contemplating adding an Intel Mac to my stable but I'm pretty certain I'll not be rushing into this until Apple makes a statement to relieve my concerns.

Well, I'm not so sure. Owners of new Intel Macs
certainly appear to be having problems.
Those problems are unrelated to the flaws in the Core Duo.
Processor flaws are "normal", you can't build a chip with several million transistors on it without there being a few problems. That said, the flaws are really edge cases and you'd have to be doing something downright weird to encounter most of them.
It's also worth noting that more than half of the flaws can only be encountered if the processor is in debug mode.
I'll wait for the Apple statement.
I very much doubt you'll get one. They didn't release a statement for the 24 known flaws in the G5 or the 36 known flaws in the G4.
If you hold off buying a computer because the processor has flaws then you'll never buy a computer.
I suspect what's happened here is that a journalist who doesn't understand what's going on found an Intel errata sheet and started yelling about the sky falling. Since most people never hear about these flaws they assume that they're indicative of a broken design. The truth is that nothing is out of the ordinary, there is nothing to be worried about.

Hi, there seems to be an issue (Apple's end) with signing in to the Itunes store and the Mac App store. How do we let them know about the issue? Their service status shows all green lights so it seems they are not aware of the problem.... I don't know about you but I'm getting really frustrated.. !! PS It seems that my warranty has expired so I don't have direct access to their support ?! HEEEEEEEEELP! THAAAAAANX!!!!!

A question about the month long ship date on preorders.

I realize they received a ton of preorders, but it still doesn't make sense that people I know are able to walk into an AT&T store and get one within a day or two (one waited for 3 hours, and they reserved one of a new shipment the following day and called him in, another walked in and they had one within two days for him).
What's the point of a preorder then if it takes a month to ship? (ordered June 17th, delivered by July 19th).
It's not that big of a deal. I'll wait as I don't have much time this summer and am busy during AT&T's store hours (and I hear the waiting is worse at our local Apple store). My gripe is that it doesn't seem in any way logical, regardless of the amount of preorders or not (either stop the preorders earlier, or honor your mistake). It essentially defeats the entire purpose of a preorder.
Then again, Apple pretty much always has supply issues with one of their products at least once every other year so it's not all that surprising either (I think the anticipation is what's getting to me since my current phone is broken).

I was completely prepared to live with my broken 3G for the next several months (been busted for about 4 months now), but then my wife ordered me the 4 for father's day (she's actually angrier than I am about the ship date now knowing she could have waited for a few hours to get one instead).
Now that I know it's coming, the flaws of my 3G are all the more glaring and upsetting.

I can tell you my local Apple Store is still selling units in the 9C737 range and I am having to return both of mine in that serial range and every one I've tested in that range is bad... If your serial number is in that range test it against these shots.

If you have a shattered screen and the lock button doesnt work, but you only tell the apple store about the lock button, will they give you a whole new phone, or just fix the button. Even if you still have warranty

I recently broke my lock button when it dropped, and wont work again, also i shattered my screen a while back, but it didnt bother me. Now that i want to get the button fixed, will the apple store only fix the button, or the whole phone. I still have 2 weeks of warranty left so it's not like they'd fix one thing and not the other when either way they'll both be free ya know?

They will not give you anything.
They wil either return the device as is or replace it at the out of warranty replacement cost.

Just Spoke to Apple Store Reagrding iPhone 4 Reservations

I, like alot of people on here, made an in store reservation for my iPhone. (No option to pre pay like alot of people were saying) I just got off the phone with the Apple store that my reservation is at. I confirmed that I indeed did have a reservation for an iPhone at their store. I also confirmed that my reservation did indeed guarantee me an iPhone at said store. So for all of you who are worried about your in store reservations, I encourage you to call you local store and speak to someone directly.

Ok, so with all the chatter I decided to do the same thing. Just got off the phone with the Apple store where I reserved my phone.
The guy I spoke to was very nice and helpful. He said they didn't have access to the actual "reserve list" but that if I received a confirmation email about my reserve(which I did) that I will definitely have a phone reserved for me on launch day at that store. I also asked about limited reserves and if I show up at 5:00pm and the line had 600 people in it, would my reserved phone be given to someone else? He said if the email states that it will be held until the close of business, then that is what it means. The phone will be held in your name until the store closes. He said it was the same way for the iPad reservations. The device was held until 3:00pm if you had a reservation. If you didn't pick it up, then it was released to be sold to anyone.
I feel a lot more confident now about getting my phone on the 24th!!!
If you're in doubt, just call your store. They seem more than willing to answer questions and offer clarifications.

Hey there. Not sure if this'll fix your whole problem (ie, the bit about connecting your Yamaha amp and your optical connector) but I think I had the same problem with not getting sound out of the TV. And with a Sony TV about 5 years old too.
The fix was to go to Settings, then Audio & Video, and then turn Dolby Digital to 'Off'.
In theory you should always get sound out of the TV, but these early HDMI Sony TVs have a problem that cuts off Apple TV sound if it's being output to the Optical Dolby Digital port too.
It's a bit of a pain but if you need the sound out of the TV just turn the Dolby Digital on the Apple TV to off, and when you do need it turn it to on - when you get your optical connection to your Yamaha amp going.
