I just switched to Road Runner (with Time Warner) and downloaded the free security they offer. Now I can't get my AOL email to load. It does work with Windows Internet Explorer. Suggestions?

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

SPA941 issues when used with Road Runner Extreme (Time Warner) 30mb/s down, 5 mb/s up.

I use a SPA941 phone in my home office.
Until recently, my Internet bandwidth was through Time Warner Road Runner Turbo. It generally worked well, but when I happened to be sending a large email or uploading a large file while on the phone, my voice would break up due to the upload bandwidth limitation.
Because of this, I upgraded to Road Runner Extreme (30mb/s download, 5mb/s upload). Now, although speedtest.net tests show that I have good bandwidth and latency, the mute button flashes red at various times througout the day, and at seemingly random times when I'm on the phone, the other party's voice will start to break up and/or cease completely, as though I have a download bandwidth problem... but a quick speedtest.net check shows that not to be the case.
I've spent hours (literally) on the phone with Time Warner 3rd level tech support, and they say everything is fine... and the issue must be with the phone.
I'm using a Ubee DOCSIS 3.0 WLCM combination modem/router
Connected to the SPA941 via cat5 10/100 Ethernet.
Has anyone encountered this problem?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Are there any settings on the phone that can be adjusted to help in this situation?

Hi David,
After reviewing your post I see one important piece of information
"the mute button flashes red at various times througout the day"
Mute button flashing means the ethernet link went down. That would be between the phone and the device the ethernet cable is connected to. The SPA941 is 10mb half duplex device (no pc connection so it didn't need higher capacity).
It could be an auto negotiation issue with the network device. Try forcing the link to 10mb half duplex or daisy chain a 3rd party switch/hub and see if the problem goes away.
One more possibility is IP address DHCP lease renews itself causing the link to go down and up. You can also try setting static IP address with dns & gateway, etc.. into the SPA941.

Road runner mail (time warner cable)

My mom got a new ipod touch and setup her road runner email account on it. I have an ipod touch also and i have a gmail account and it works fine. But when she opens up the email application an error comes up "The mail server .wi.rr.com is not responding verify that you have entered the correct acct info in mail settings". any suggestions?

I have RR and made a special email for just my Touch.
It works fine - so . .
1) Check the email you made with a email cleint to make sure you have the new RR email setup ok (Or go to their web email and check that way)
2) Double check your SMTP server and pop server addresses.
3) for mine I have (under Advanced email setup) Use SSL OFF, authentication Password and server port 110 (pop) my smtp server port says 587 here - I think it found that Automagically
4) Make sure the Server On-Off is on
These are all under Settings --> Mail Contacts and Calendars --> Then the email account name

Adobe Reader incompatible with Windows Internet Explorer 9

I recently installed the update for Windows Internet Eexplorer 9 on my laptop (Vista Home Premium) and have installed the latest Adobe Reader as well.
After installing Windows IE 9 I found that I was not able to view any letters etc online where Adobe Reader was required.
I tried all the suggestions in the associated help screen to no avail, so I finally 'uninstalled' the Windows I E 9 update and magically I was once again able to view online letters etc.
I am wondering why the latest Adobe Reader is incompatible with Windows I E 9?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe IE9 is not supported with Reader9, but everything should work as usual. I have both on my machine and am able to use them without any problem.
Try repairing Reader from Programs in Control Panel.

In an outgoing email message the "attach" document icon does not work in firefox. It does work when using internet explorer. How can I get the "attach" key to work when using firefox?

You need to update Aperture to at least version 3.4.5 or vesion 3.5.1.
Back up your Aperture library, because updating Aperture will cause your Aperture library to be upgraded to a new format, and it will be safer to have a backup.
Then sign into the AppStore with your AppleID and check, if there is an update for Aperture on the Updates page or if you are seeing Aperture on the "Accept" part of the "Purchased" page. Download the updater, and after it installed, click your Aperture library to let it upgrade.

My Comcast e-mail now only works with Windows Internet Explorer-is this a Microsoft/Comcast collaboration to get people to switch to Explorer?

Firefox opens the Comcast e-mail window and inbox is visible,. but you can't open the e-mails. Their Customer service told me I have to use Explorer, which does indeed work. Also, Explorer scales the page automatically to full size.
I really don't want to switch to Explorer unless I absolutely have to, so when is this issue going to be resolved?

I would like to have a password required before using Firefox as there is available with Windows Internet Explorer and Chrome.

As it is known for every one the danger of the internet for kids with out parents watching them so I need a password.

How do you require a password for IE and Chrome? (I think there is an add-on available to add this feature to Chrome.)

Not Compatible with Windows Internet Explorer 7

I just upgraded to IE 7 and I must say it is great! One minor downside is that anything that requires Quicktime 7 (movies, etc.) doesn't work in the browser. It says that the plugin can't be launched or something like that.

After I got connected with quickbooks online, quickbooks is always open in the left third of my screen. I cannot close it separately from firefox. This does not happen in Internet Explorer. How can I make it go away?

Everything was fine until I tried quickbooks online. Then, suddenly, I have the quickbooks site as an add-on no matter which other site I am visiting. I cannot close it unless I close the mozilla window completely.

If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.

I'm a pc tech, I go through computers like water buying and selling. Apple says I can only "deauthorize all computers" once a year. Over time, I've authorized the 5 that Apple allows, now I can't even authorize the one I'm currently using. WTH DO I DO????

I've had constant problems with syncing, I don't understand why Apple can't just make a simple interface where I can sync what's on my iPhone to a new computer, thereby creating a "library" of what I have on my phone already. Obviously, what I have on my phone is what the heck I want on my phone. I'm a pc tech, I go through several computers a year because I buy and sell and repair them. Apple won't let me "deauthorize" computers until NOVEMBER, and it won't let me "Authorize" the desktop I just built for myself. The new iPhone OS is about to debut, and I can't even sync this phone to my new computer or new itunes. THis is ridiculously complicated and frustrating as ****. If I didn't like the iPhone so much, I'd never bother with all this hassle. And Apple wonders why suddenly about 70% of the market now belongs to ANDROID users. What do I have to do, Call customer support to get my account straight???? TOTALLY disgusted with this whole thing.

iPhones are not, nor have they every been storage devices. They are merely mirrors of the content in the users iTunes library. As such, syncing is one way, computer to iDevice.

Learn to deauthorize them before taking them out of service. Sorry, but the scenario describe above is not "normal" and I cannot imagine any user buying a used computer from a so-called tech that he built for himself. If building computers for customers, build them for the customer and keep your data off of them.

Again, had the previous computers been de-authorized this would be a none issue. A call to iTunes Customer Support may provide a way around the one year limit on deauthorizing all computers.

I had a pw saved for a site but had to change it so I deleted it in the saved pw tool. Now I can't get FF to ask me if I want to save it again. Pain in the butt to have to keep typing in my ID and pw each time. HELP!

No more details than what I stated. FF won't ask to store my pw for a site where I once had a pw stored. I had to change it so I deleted it in the tools area and thought it would prompt me the next time but it didn't and hasn't for months...

Also make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.
