I just tried to update my iPad 4, and it just shows an iTunes logo and a cord.  I've tried to reset, but it's frozen.

I just tried to update my iPad to 7.1.1, and an iTunes logo and long white cord shows up.  It's been an hour, and it's as if it is frozen.  I tried to reset, but it keeps coming back to this.  How do I get my iPad back?  This is an iPad four.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My Ipad shows the Itunes logo with connecter cord and arrow but wont turn on. How do I fix?

In need of some help, my Ipad turned off two days ago. I pushed the home button and the start to reset. Now it shows the Itunes logo with the connecter cord and an arrow. I plugged it into my PC, and there was an update for my Ipad. Waited the three hours for the update and disconnected hoping that everything was fixed. Would not turn on again so held the start/home and it still shows the Itunes logo, and when I plug it into my PC, Itunes will no longer open. I live three hours away from the nearest Apple store and would like to get it fixed at home if possible.

Did you expect iTunes to start automatically or did you start it yourself? Start iTunes and then connect the iPad.

  • HT5654 i updated my ipad 3 to latest version of system upgrade and now it is not working at all.  it just shows an itunes logo. I have tried restarting.

i updated my ipad 3 to latest version of system upgrade and now it is not working. All black screen with Itunes logo.  I tried restarting

Upgrade to Snow Leopard - it's compatible with the latest version of iTunes, and still supports PowerPC applications.
    $19.99 - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard.

  • HT4623 my ipad just locked up on me and is showing the itunes logo with an arrow and cord showing on the screen

I have just tried updating my ipad air and it locked up on me showing an icon of itunes and a picture of a cord on the screen.

Something went wrong and you have to restore the software now. Connect your iPad to your computer and launch iTunes and try restoring it by selecting the iPad in the devices tab at the top in the upper right corner of the iTunes window or in the left sidebar and then click on Restore in the Summary window on the right.
If you can't restore that way, then you will have to use recovery mode.

  • I have no sound for games in my iPad. I have tried the reset but it does not work. The speakers work as I have sound for music and videos.

I have no sound for games in my iPad. I have tried the reset but it does not work. The speakers work as I have sound for music and videos.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430 It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap on General
    3. Tap on Reset
    4. Tap on Reset All Settings
What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy. It doesn’t affect your data. All of your email accounts will remain intact, as well as any SMS text or iMessages.

  • HT4623 just updated my iPhone 4s to ios6, now my phone won't turn back on. The apple logo comes on and sits then shuts off. I have held down the home button and on/off switch several times to reset, but same problem persists.

just updated my iPhone 4s to ios6, now my phone won't turn back on. The apple logo comes on and sits then shuts off. Then comes back on and just sits.I have held down the home button and on/off switch several times to reset, but same problem persists.

Place iPhone on Wall Charger for at least 10 minutes. Then keep on charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone begins to start, this can take about 20 seconds of holding both buttons while on charger. If still problem, open iTunes 10.7 on computer, connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, then click Restore button of iTunes. If still problem, try DFU Mode Restore, here are the steps. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB cable. Hold both Home and Power buttons, after exactly 10 seconds release the Power Button, keep holding the Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually about 20 seconds time. If the iPhone screen is black, blank this is DFU Mode. Click the Restore button of iTunes. DFU Mode can be difficult to enter sometimes, just keep trying. DFU Mode is a black, blank screen with iTunes saying Recovery Mode. If still problem and there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution.
