I just updated iTunes to 11.1.4.62 and it doesn't recognize my iPod.
Hello All!
I've just recently updated iTunes to the latest version but it no longer recognizes any of the iPods in my house. It shows up in Windows but for some reason when I open up iTunes, iTunes just doesn't recognize that it's plugged in. I've never had this happen with any past updates, can anyone assist me please?

Just updated Itunes to 11.1.4.62 and no longer synchs to iphone. Did reinstall, removed old itunes, rebooted, rebooted phone, stopped ipod service, started ipod service. Every variation fails to show iphone 4s in new itunes update. Really getting fed up with itunes and updates that cause more drama than benefits. If this continues I will switch to Android Windows 8, not vista as listed below

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

I've got Windows XP and have just upgrade iTunes to v10.3.1.55 and it won't now recognise my iPad when I connect it, nor my iPhone, but it does still recognise and sync my iPod Classic. I can see the iPad and iPhone in My Computer but they do not appear in my iTunes list on the left. Please does anyone have any ideas?
Asking me what I think is not what really matters here. What do you think? Do you want to wait for another update to iTunes in order to sync or backup your iPad again? That could be weeks down the road - no telling when it may be updated.

Here is something very simple to try. Quit iTunes and restart your computer. Then restart your iPad and try to sync/connect again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. -

ITunes not recognizing new PC and, therefore, doesn't recognize my IPOD
ITunes not recognizing new PC even though it says it is authorized. The result: ITunes doesn't recognize my IPOD. It does still have my old PC name attached to my account. What can I do to rectify this situation?
It could be a tiny bit of fluff in the dock that's preventing a particular wire from connecting. A magnifying glass and a decent light should let you inspect the port. If there is any rubbish lodged in the dock opening use a can of compressed air or a fine needle to ease it out taking care not to damage the connectors.

Just updated to 12.1.0.71 today and now it cant find my ipod to sync

I have upgraded my itunes to 1.4 on my windows xp service pk 3 system and now it won't recognize my ipod and let me sync it half of the time. What can I do about this?
It's not a "Reset" (except for the Reset of the iPod and possibly powering off the computer). It's meant to be a test to see if there might be interference between connected USB devices, or if the total power draw of all connected USB devices is too high for your computer's USB bus. If it always works when the iPod is the only connected device, but only sometimes works when you connect it with other devices, it may be one of those issues. When it works, the set of connected (or active) devices is OK.
If this is the case, you can go through a process of elimination to determine which device or combination of (active) devices causes the problem. NOTE: If one of your devices is an external hard drive that gets power from the USB port, power draw may be higher if it is currently active (spinning). Also, the power draw of the iPod may be higher when it is charging its battery and/or syncing.
Or are saying that the connected USB devices does not seem to matter, but doing a computer shut down always makes the iPod connect immediately after startup, but then the problem returns later? -
I just updated iTunes so I can use airplay and now it won't open
I am trying to use airplay with my apple tv. I updated both this morning and now itunes crashes as soon as it opens. Is anyone else experiencing this?
You could unplug your router than plug it back in. You could turn the iPhone completely off and then back on.

Updated my iTunes to the recent one and now it will not open on my MacBook Pro, got a new iPhone so tried to connect it and said i needed the new iTunes (which i did) and now i can't start my phone as i can't open iTunes which means i can't access anything on my phone!!?? HELP???????

I just updated itunes to 11.1.3 on my laptop and now it won't open. It does not respond to trying "safe mode" either. Anyone have an idea as to what to do?
I just uninstalled it and am waiting for it to reinstall. I sincerely hope that I have not lost everything that I worked on so hard. Now that mobile me is gone, I have not been able to go between devices to transfer things. I was merely trying to take a document I had worked on and open it in pages, but it said my version was too old. When I updated, it wouldn't load. Now I cannot do anything. I have no idea what happened!? I just updated Itunes on my macbook and now my entire song library won't play. When I click on a song it says it can't play because it can't find the original file. How is this possible? The original files are on my computer. I just upgraded!! HELP!!
The only thing I can think of is that you deleted these files off your computer without using iTunes to do it. Or maybe you backed up your computer to a previous state to where these song files didn't exist? The last one doesn't even make sense to me unless you used Time Machine to do it. But those are the only things I can think of.

tried restarting the computer, that wasn't any help

even opened up programs and features and right clicked it instead of uninstalling it i clicked repair, no help either
