I just updated my Iphone 4 with the latest update form Itunes and it killed it. It said some error and shut down and went to the install itunes screen. I have lost everything! This is ridiculous!
As above, I updated my phone, no jail break no nothing and its stuffed. All the money I have spent on in app purchases all gone?
I am gutted, all because if Apple stuffing up? That is not fair. Has anyone else had a similar experience with the recent update?
Thanks Malvin, I have calmed down a bit, it still says 5minutes till back up is complete, I did sync my phone. At this point I will just be relieved to get it to turn on to normal, then I will start worrying about apps.
What on earth is wrong with the updates? I think I am just going to ignore them from now on. The previous update locked my itunes and I couldn't access my apps untill i downloaded another app (thanks to these forums).
I will post back in a few minutes once it is complete.

Exactly as I mentioned above, the app just gives a flasha nd returns to the home screen, I have tried everything and nothing has really worked. Any suggestions?
Basic troubleshooting steps straight out of the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW. Have you been through ALL of these steps?

A friend gave us her used iphone. We used it to take home videos and photos, and now that we synced it to our PC it has lost everything on it, and it has been replaced with the contents of our already existing iPod. In other words, all our music, photos and apps that were on our existing itunes account (used with our IPOD) etc, have been put into this used iPhone. Is there any way to get back all that stuff (mainly just want our home videos and photos back!!) Where on earth are they? Are they stored somewhere on my PC? I feel so dumb for syncing it now, and very sad for having lost my precious videos of my kids.

If you open the recovery drive (partition) it should only have a single folder (Recovery).
To make sure that your not saving restore points to that drive.
See:
Start, Control Panel, System, System Protection tab. Make sure the D drive partition is set to OFF so that it does not save there.

It is possible you had used the Combo or software update to move from 10.6.3 to 10.6.8 prior to the reinstall. Then when you reinstalled, the install disk took you to 10.6.3 and as MichelPM says, you will need to update again.
The appropriate combo updater is Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 It's a big update and can take 40 minutes or more.
But you will still have to software update to pick up the latest security and iTunes updates.
Don't forget to back up your files first. -
I updated firefox 27.0.1(x86.en-US) two days ago and now it is not opening. please help me, it is frustrating. One of the suggestions probably was to try starting Firefox in its Safe Mode by holding down the shift key when starting Firefox. (This doesn't work if Firefox is still running hidden in memory.)
In the small dialog that should appear, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)

Safari as well as other apps like USA Today and BBC, shut down very often in my iPad. I have experienced this problem before, but now it happens all the time. I can hardly have a full web surfing session without this annoying interruption.
When I restart the app I usually get to the page I was reading so I don't understand what's going on.
Does anybody have information about this issue? Any suggestions or solutions?

Safari has never needed Rosetta to run.
It fact, it makes it run agonizingly slow --
or could cause it to crash. That's probably your problem.
I you really need Rosetta to work with this app, your Math program is using really old technology,
and was built to run on OS9, or even OS8.
Example: Many of us used to use PageMaker for designing brochures.
When Macs went to 10.2.8 or so, PageMaker couldn't run, so Apple included
a faux environment on newer Macs, where old apps & games would run.
That was about 5 or more years ago. The need for Rosetta is very very rare,
as most all apps used today would be newer than 5 years old.
Like Mulder said, a crash report might help identify the exact culprit.
EDIT: Have you tried turning Rosetta off???? Just to test it??

Just signed up for MobileMe. Had a little difficulty setting up iCal but eventually got everything working. Whether posting to iCal on my Mac Book or iPhone, sync seemed to be working fine for about a day. Then suddenly when I opened iCal on my Mac Book, I would receive the following iCal error message:
"The calendar https://cal.me.com/calendar/calendar/principals/users/1.1117025442/ was not found on the server. Make sure the URL is correct." I know where it is located but because I did not enter the URL when I set up MobileMe/iCal, I don't know what the correct URL should be.Mike,

No clue as you've provided no details of what specifically occurs that requires the reboot.

I have just successfully updated my iphone 4 with the latest ios update but lost all my apps. I can find them on my itunes a/c but cannot get them to transfer back onto phone without downloading all again, what I am I missing?
Is "Sync Apps" in the apps tab checked? If it is and they still won't sync, uncheck it then run a sync, then recheck it and run the sync again. If that doesn't help, on the phone itself, go to your app store, tap on updates, then go to purchased, and tap the cloud button next to them to redownload.

While updating my iphone 4s to ios6, I had to restore it. Now every time I connect to itunes, I get the "Set Up Your iPhone" window with the set up as new iphone and restore from backup options. After the restore, I got everything except my apps and music back. Do I need to set the phone up as new again?

I purchased an iPhone 4s few weeks ago here in Pakistan and now I can't activate it because it says the this iPhone was lost and erased. Sign is with the Apple ID that was used to erase this iPhone. If you are trying to activate an iPad or iPhone and it is asking for a previous owners Apple ID and password, you have encountered the Activation Lock. This is a security feature that prevents thieves from setting up and using a stolen or lost iPad or iPhone. You have no alternative. You must contact the previous owner to get permission to use the device. If you cannot contact the previous owner return the device to where you bought it and get a refund. You will never be able to activate the device and no one can help you do it.

It will not update. Just sits in my App Store and freezes . I have a iPhone 4S with the latest software.
If it's freezing when you try to update apps, try force-closing the App Store app. From your home screen, double-tap the home button, locate App Store in the list on the bottom, tap an hold it until it wiggles, tap to close it, tap the home button again. Try updating again...any difference?
