I just updated my ipod and realized I lost most of my contents like my address book and calender dates, also all my notes and to do's, anyway I can recover them?

I thought I'd lost my notes, too. I also have an iPad mini, and noticed the notes app icon and clicked on it. What was more obvious on the iPad was that there are different accounts; in other words, it had different sets of notes saved under different email accounts.My missing notes were saved under my icloud account, although I didn't consciously ever put the notes under any separate account. They were visible when I clicked "All Notes," too. It turns out that the phone had a different account set as the default. I changed the default on the iPhone, and there they were. I took screen shots so the notes are saved in my photos, too. This was a lot easier than checking through a lot of backups. I hope that helps. I will post this on a couple of threads I see in Apple communities. I see it's a pretty common problem. This might work on an iPod, too.

Nope.
Apple recomends after each purchase to BACKUP your purchases. If purchased on a mobile device (iPhone, iTouch, iPod, etc) you should transfer your purchases to a computer running iTunes as soon as possible to back them up.
If you don't have your items in your library, I'm afraid there is little recourse.

To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them.

I have found a temporary solution, allowing the previous version of iTunes (v. 11.1.3 (x64) in my case) to be re-installed. It will allow you to re-establish use of iTunes until the Apple software engineers fix the most recent disasterous upgrade (v. 11.1.4). Thanks, Bob! You are correct. And, we learned this as we spoke with APPLE TECH SUPPORT by phone on Christmas day (800-APL-CARE). One of their reps spent the time to help us troubleshoot this, but the boiled down conclusion is your answer, and to repeat for the benefit of others, here is what worked:
1. With our Belkin router set to "out-of-the-box" WEP 64 bit security, we could not get wireless access of any kind. Only with the Security Mode set to DISABLED, could we gain access.
2. Changing the router's security mode setting to "WPA/WPA-2...." and entering a new min. 8 char passphrase, and then entering that same passphrase into the IPOD Touch, and restarting the router, did the trick!
Based on this, and some info found in another posting, I can only conclude that the IPODs and IPHONES do not support WEP security mode in many generic routers used by thousands of consumers. Hopefully, those same consumers can figure out how to change their wireless router setttings to WPA/WPA-2 security mode and ALSO get all their other wireless devices (PCs, laptops, WII boxes, ROKU boxes) all reconfigured to WPA mode, too.
I THINK THE BOTTOM LINE HERE IS THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE THAT APPLE NEEDS TO ADDRESS WITH WEP COMPATIBILITY and it may also be the case that MOST CONSUMERS ARE USING WEP 64 BIT security on their home wireless routers?
In any case, it's working now, so anyone who is having problems should try changing to WPA mode and post back here if it worked for them!

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

I've been using iText Express for a year or two now because it's just the one application I downloaded for writing and saving documents. I was working on one for a few months and randomly one day last month, when I went to open it to resume editing my work, the file was gone! I searched my whole laptop and trash. No, I already tried looking at that. The file that recovered was not in the trash, it appeared in my documents folder. I opened it up and inside was an iText Express document with coding. Then inside of there, was and then and this "SoftwareMap" document contained a bunch of coding and symbols and words.

The only way to locate/disable/erase any lost/stolen iPhone/iPod Touch is through Find My Phone or a similar app. However, this requires that Find My Phone be setup/activated, on your phone, before it was lost/stolen. You would then login at iCloud.com & try to locate it. This requires the phone be turned on & have an Internet connection. There is no other way to locate a lost/stolen iPhone. Apple can't/won't help you, nor will your carrier. Report the loss to the Police, your carrier & Insurance company. Change all of your passwords, especially your Apple ID/iCloud password NOW!
If your carrier offers Blacklisting & they Blacklist the phone, it will be unusable as a phone.
If locked with a passcode, and running iOS 7.0, then phone cannot be re-activated or the passcode removed without knowing your Apple iD/Password. It will be nothing but a useless paperweight.
If not running iOS 7.0, the phone can be forced into recovery mode & restored.

3 iPods, one library and seem to have lost most of my iTunes library

Here's the deal - 3 separate iPods, uneducated users, and (we think) one library. Most of the library now has the little ! beside each song however some songs are still on one of the iPods but can't be found in the library. I seriously need help. Any thoughts appreciated.

That just means that iTunes can't locate the files. Have you perhaps moved, deleted or renamed a folder that contained the music you had in your library?

There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. If you are seeing the USB cord and iTunes icons on your screen something has gone wrong with the update. You will have to restore your iPhone. The only way to do this is to connect the phone to your computer that is running iTunes.

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

The 1G iPod can only go as high as 3.1.3. The 1G does not have an internal speaker or volume buttons on the upper left edge.
