I just updated my itunes and now it won't open.

I've been having multiple problems with my computer, every time it asks me to update I do. But when i updated my itunes about a week ago while it was re importing all my files it closes and says :
The application iTunes quit unexpectedly. The problem may have been caused by the 3ivxVideoCodec plug-in.
then it asks me if i want to relaunch report or ignore, so the first time i clicked ignore, then this kept happening, finally i reported it, and i've been getting ****** cause nothing is working and i would appreciate it if i could get some help and get my iMac running smothly with no problems again!
so please help.

Try opening iTunes in "Safe Mode" (without external plug-ins) and see it the problem persists. To do this press Command+Option (while opening iTunes).
If you decide to remove a plug-in, they are in your Library folder -> iTunes folder -> iTunes Plug-Ins.

You did a d/l of the iTunes .dmg - did you install by opening the .dmg and following the dialogs?

My Itunes won't open when i click on in, at first it would do nothing but then when i tried to reinstall it and fix some errors with it, now it acts like its going to download something every time i click on it. What do i need to do so that i can make my itunes work normally again?

So I updated the itunes and now it won't open it, it states a message "the itunes library.itl" cannot be open because it was created by a newer version of itunes, I have unistalled and re-installed newer and older version and still i get this message.

Try resetting the Nano with it still connected to a high powered USB 2.0 port on your PC. To reset the iPod, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Sorted it out. You need to do as provided. If no change after restoring as a new iPhone or not from the backup, the iPhone has a hardware problem.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

I just uninstalled it and am waiting for it to reinstall. I sincerely hope that I have not lost everything that I worked on so hard. Now that mobile me is gone, I have not been able to go between devices to transfer things. I was merely trying to take a document I had worked on and open it in pages, but it said my version was too old. When I updated, it wouldn't load. Now I cannot do anything. So here's the fix I found. Uninstall itunes along with the connected Apple files and programs. Then reinstall itunes.
