I just updated to itunes 11 on a windows, can i go back to an earlier version of itunes?

i just updated to the new version, itunes 11 , and i really hate it im on a windows and i tried uninstalling itunes 11 and reinstalling an older version but it doesn't open after downloaded so i had to download itunes 11 again any help or advice ?? thanks !!

Previous versions of iTunes won't use the  iTunes library (newer version) file
Fortunately, iTunes makes backup copies of its library,
So when you reinstall, you have to delete (or rename just in case) library file, you have to copy (and rename) one the backups (usually the most recent one) to take its place
the library file is called         >>         iTunes Library (extension itl)
and should be in  the          >>          Desktop\Libraries\Music\iTunes\           folder
the backups should be in the    >>     Desktop\Libraries\Music\iTunes\Previous iTunes Library\        folder
that should make iTunes work, wiith most or all of your library intact

I installed the newest version and it took EVERYTHING off my hard drive. A lot of it is crap I don't want on there. Can I revert back to an earlier version of Itunes that only has whats on my Ipod? I tried system restore and had no luck. Thanks

If your disk was wiped, presumable you will not need to worry about the library as a new blank library will be created.

To do this in iMovie 11. use the SHARE menu. Share your project using the Share menu and choose Export Using QuickTime.
In the Dialog box that comes up, choose Sound to AIFF, or one of the other sound options. This will create a file that you can drag into iTubes.

  • HT1947 Can I go back to an older version of iTunes that'll support both my iPhone 4S w/iOS6 and my MacBook running Leapord 10.5.8?

Can I go back to an older version of iTunes that'll support both my iPhone 4S w/iOS6 and my 2009 MacBook running Leapord 10.5.8? I simply want everything to work the way it had been forever until recently. However, I can't imagine Apple would intentionally make their own products obsolete by rendering them useless through a software "upgrade."  My MacBook is only 3 yrs old so I feel like I am simply missing 1 piece to this puzzle in order for things to start working again. I have my MacBook, iPod and iPhone 4S all set up to install updates automatically so if I need to uninstall certain updates and revert back to ones that work will that even be an option?  Thanks

The only version of iTunes which will support both is version 10.6.3.

  • HT1925 Trying to download, getting message "can't access, was created in earlier version of iTunes."

I'm trying to download to my iPOD and my MP3 and I keep getting a message that says it cannot access my files because it was created in an earlier version of iTUNES.

Thanks again. The option thing got me further than I've gotten thus far but when I went to choose a library I got that same message.
I do have options. I have 2 iMacs. I can still access my music through 'sharing' and download it onto my newer iMac. Trouble is it doesn't have a CD port and I like to burn. From what I've read about their new Mac portable CD/DVD drive, it's shaky at best. Incidentally, do you know of any drives that work well with Macs and cost less than $89.00?
I've figured out I can download a previous library from my old Mac then upload it from the new one which should put me back in business, but what do I do with the corrupt one that's there now, just trash it? Also, when I do the option key my other choice is Create A New Library. Should I do that and put the good previous library into it?
Thanks a million, I really appreciate your time. I'm an old fogey and computers often mystify me, especially when they lock me out of things for no apparent reason.

  • Can i go back to an older version of itunes?

I recently upgraded to iTunes 6 and I HATE it. It freezes a lot and at first, the preferences option under the edit menu was not even there and now it will not let me click on any of the tabs at the top. It only shows the "general" options. I had no problems with my earlier version of iTunes and it's not my computer because I have no problems with any other programs. Is there any way I can downgrade and go back to the last version? Or what can I do to fix iTunes 6 now that I'm stuck with it? I'd appreciate any help because there doesn't seem to be any way to contact Apple to ask them. I am not impressed with their "support" website. Thanks. -Carly

  • Can I roll back to a previous version of iTunes?

I just downloaded all my updates, one of which updated my iTunes, and now it is not working properly. Mine too is skipping during certain songs in my library. Also, if I just close the window, and come back to it later the screen has fragmented, and looks like white noise with the impression of several different windows on its face. This seems like some kind of conflict. I downloaded the package containing 6.0.5 intending to install it, and remove the new version, but it will not let me install it. Please help

  • Can I go back to an earlier edition of itunes

I don't like the latest itunes.  felt it was easier when I could see all my playlists on the left hand column. Is it possible to go back to the previous edition?

You have to restore the last .itl file that worked with iTunes 10.7 or earlier. iTunes will upgrade older libraries, it won't downgrade newer ones.
    However....
The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store anduntick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
The View Options pop-up may also let you control sub-sorting in certain views

  • How can I revert back to my old version of itunes without deleting my data?

Ever sence I upgrated to the 10.6.7.1, I can't go into the store! I literally tried everything. So only choice is to delete the new itunes and revert back to the 10.4 version. But I don't want to risk getting all my music, movies, pictures,tv shows, pretty much everything get deleted off my ipod. I heard about backing up my files. Someone, anybody, PLEASE help, I'm this close to smashing my computer to pieces if I don't get an answer or a solution.

To clarify things,  if you have LifeCycleManager also called LCM and use versioning, you can revert changes.
Howver,  if you edit a report in a higher patch level then go back to a previous patch level you may face unexpected behavior like sudden crash, document corruption that in the worst cases manifests after a long time.
Therefore the best practices are to use LCM and/or perform systematic backups plus exceptional backups when major changes occur.

Hello BobB10 and welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
Sorry to hear you are having issues with your BlackBerry® Torch™ 9860 smartphone.
It is not recommended to downgrade your software, however, if you wish to do so you will need to consult your mobile carriers download site at www.na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp and see if the previous software version is posted. If so, download and install it to your computer then use the BlackBerry® Desktop Software to install the older software version.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • How do I go back to an older version of iTunes?

I just updated my iTunes to 11 and definitely don't like it. How can I go back to the last version of iTunes?

What do you mean you can't? You certainly can and people that didn't care for the new iTunes 11 have already went back to the 10.7 version. Just search on these boards on how to go about it.

  • Is it possible to obtain an earlier version of iTunes?

iTunes 6 WILL NOT RUN on my computer -- it's a new machine, running Windows XP. I've looked through these forums and tried the various pieces of advice, such as deleting and reinstalling iTunes (even re-downloading it), disabling virus protection (Norton, if it makes a difference), installing QuickTime separately, downloading a Windows installer clean-up, deleting a file (can't remember what it was called), and I can't recall what all else. Nothing happens. The iTunes install seems to work just fine, but when I try to run it, NOTHING. Literally. I get a brief flashing hourglass, then NOTHING HAPPENS. The only solution I can see is to obtain iTunes 5.something, which worked just fine for me. I don't give a flip about music video, etc.; I just want to be able to listen to the music that is on my computer, but can't be transferred to what is now a $400 paperweight !!!
I purchased the iPod because Apple products are supposed to be reliable and easy to use. What gives????

    hi IrratedUser!
The iTunes install seems to work just fine, but when I try to run it, NOTHING. Literally. I get a brief flashing hourglass, then NOTHING HAPPENS.
yuck. one of the common causes of that kind of "error-less" launch failure (it's an unusually nasty kind of adware) is not cured by rolling back to an earlier version of itunes.
so it might be wise to just check up on the two major possibilities that you haven't explicitly mentioned having checked.
let's first make an observation. reboot the PC. open your Task Manager to the Processes tab. now try to launch your itunes again. does an itunes.exe process appear? if so, does it persist in Task Manager or disappear after a few seconds?
if itunes.exe persists in Task Manager (and especially if you're running Norton Internet Security 2005, first see:
iTunes 6 won't open on a Windows computer if firewall software is not up-to-date
... but also see the Lorraine technique:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=810222&#810222
(it's actually the firewall rather than the antivirus that causes this problem. in nasty cases, QT processes are also getting blocked, so even if you've got all itunes processes being permitted, the QT blockage ends up suppressing itunes launch en passant.)
if itunes.exe disappears from Task Manager after a few seconds, first try the following technique:
Using MSCONFIG to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows
... and post back to let us know the names of the startup items that you have to disable in order to get itunes to launch. (exact spelling please.)
