I just want to burn some files to disc....

Idealy I would like to put in the compact fash card and have my macbook just go burn it for me, but I would be happy to just right click on a folder (any folder), and hit burn... any way to do this? Thanks!

Ok, well, I found this:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh854.html
I'll look up that link next, the thing about the link above is, it said to drag your files to the {blank} disc .... I did not have a blan disc on my desktop ... when I was prompted, after inserting the blank disc, I cancelled the prompt, I did not know I had to choose "open in finder" - I think that was the option.... but, I rather just right click on a file or folder.... I guess that would have to be setup in automator? Anyone have a link on how to set that up? Perhaps, allot me to insert a compact fash card, then have the label for the CD be the date of the folder? Or... name of the folder?

  • [Solved]I just want to transfer some files from one computer to ano...

    Setup:
Windows LAN (setup by my dad)
One Arch Linux Box, hardwired and connected through the network without problems.
One Ubuntu Linux Laptop, connected wirelessly.
I want to transfer my music, schoolwork, ect, onto my desktop from my laptop. Both machines are part of the same LAN. I want to transfer those files over the network (because I lack a usb drive larger than 1 GB). I know you can do this via rsync, ssh, sftp, samba, ect. But I happen to [censored] hate doing stuff with any network of any sort. I sort of understand networking, but I need some help, because all the millions of guides about doing this on the internet seem not to work, no matter what I try to do.
I can ping each machine through the other one, and I know both of their host names (I have both of them in front of me, actually.). The Ubuntu machine can see the entire network (through Nautilus, it appears), but cannot see my Arch Linux Box. I'd imagine I could see the entirety of the network on my Arch Computer if I knew how (going to ///:Network on PCmanFM gives me nothing). Both machines can connect to the internet without problems.
Can someone help me out? (I know, there are plenty of guides through Google and the Arch Wiki, I don't really understand them well enough)
I don't care if you use a specific method, any will do. I can provide any additional information to you if you just ask.

Okay guys, so I apologise about taking so long to get back on this topic...I was at a summer camp all week and did not have access to my computer.

  • I just want to burn some data...

All I want to do, is backup some home movies I have stored on my mac. I import them from my camera (HDD camera) with iMovie, but I want to archive the original footage. The current event is 11GB, so I can't burn it onto one DVD, and there's no easy way (that I know of) of using finder to split these into managable chunks. I tried selecting a group of files, but there's no way to find out the size of the group (I just get individual sizes when I click 'get info.')
I want a simple way to span the data across discs. I don't mind paying for it- but please don't suggest Toast. I'm tired of fighting with Roxio software on my PC (I have Roxio creator installed on XP on my virtual machine via VM Fusion, but for whatever reason it won't play nice trying to burn multiple discs either). And I'm not paying $80 just for that feature. I can get by with my virtual machine Roxio software for just about anything else, but not this apparently.
When I google "disc spanning mac" all I get is Toast. There's gotta be some other software out there? I noticed Nero doesn't support mac.

With all respect to Mr. Reed: hard drives can fail at any time.
Of course they can. So can anything else. That's why you backup, and that's why you shouldn't be satisfied with one backup.
They are designed to last a few years.
That's ridiculous. You're not seriously suggesting that hard drives are designed with failure after a few years considered acceptable?! Hard drives can fail as soon as they come off the assembly line, but I've got hard drives in my house that are 15 years old and still working. I've only had one hard drive fail ever.
There are few studies of the lifetime of burned CDs and DVDs. The ones I have seen agree that some brands last far longer than others. "Archival" brands cost a lot more. Search the web for the latest.

  • Hi, I am using my icloud on my iphone but am unable to find it on my mac book pro. It's not under my system preferences like it shows under the setup. Can I download it again? Or something. I just need to backup some files on my computer and am unable.

The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mavericks preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is now non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mavericks, provided it meets the requirements.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Mavericks (10.9.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.
The requirements for Mountain Lion and Mavericks are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
      and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

As long as you don't need all the bells and whistles of the iTunes Store such as Ping, and don't need to sync an iOS device running iOS 4.x, then iTunes 9.2.1 should work for you. It should be available via Software Update, but if not, you can still get it here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1056
but it would be best to upgrade your Mac to Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6, since it's probable that eventually the iTunes Store will no longer support iTunes 9.x.
    Regards.
P.S. Mac OS X 10.4 was discontinued three and a half years ago, so yes, it's getting rather long in the tooth. Cheers.

  • "Session has timed out. Try again".  I just want to buy some music.

I bought a $15.00 itunes card, and tried to redeem it just like I have many times before and for no apparent reason I keep getting the same message over & over:  "Your session has timed out.  Try again".  My Apple Care has expired, however I called, talked to a person, and they said they can't help me. I just want to buy some music... Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks,
    Steve

I had this problem, but it was because I was clicking on an external link. Try instead going straight into iTunes, then going to the Podcast section. At the bottom of the "Podcast Quick Links" section, there's a text, "Submit a Podcast." Click on this instead. Once I did, I got to the same page as before, but it did process the feed.
    Good luck!

It sounds like you have assigned the primary click on the trackpad to something else, perhaps a gesture.
Use your mouse, login and then open the Trackpad preference pane and see how you have the interface configured.
Oh and you can have both the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad powered up and working at the same time. No need to keep moving batteries around.

If you say what the problem is then somebody on here might be able to help.
If you've posted from that page because you've forgotten the answers to your security questions, then if you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then see if the instructions on this user tip helps you get them reset : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551

I want to upload some files from mobile phone to webserver? how? thanks!

The vibrating phone was created in Java. Some british company is selling the program to women for on the go fun. I'm pretty sure the actual code in the program is only a few lines.
Oh... you were talking to the other guy. He wants a java app to upload something to a JSP or database server.

I want to burn a blu ray disc from PP CC 2014 and do not have the Encore application. Is there a way to do that?

Here's a free non-Adobe solution as well.  It's definitely got a steep learning curve compared to Encore, but from my understanding so far, it may also be more capable.  (And it's still being developed, unlike Encore which is dead software.)

Why can't I burn photo files to disc on my Mac. It shows "unexpected error code 0x8002006E

The two usual causes of this messages is poor media and too high a burn speed.  Try using a different brand of disk. Verbatim is the most recommended brand and a slower burn speed, around 4X.

What Adobe application are you working with? Are you working with a PDF file in Reader or Acrobat? Is the Save As command available? If you are using Acrobat/Reader, is the PDF password protected (do you see SECURED in the title bar)?

  • I have downloaded a movie from camera to imovie, now want to burn to a dvd disc.  can anyone tell me what to do next

I have downloaded three movie clips from my camera to imovie successfully.  At this point, I am wanting to burn these
three clips to a dvd.  can anyone help steer me down the right road.
    thanks

Hard to say which window that is at top resp bottom as they can switch.
Under the project window down to the right there is a PLUS sign. Press this to start a NEW Project
UNDER the iMovie menu at top (right to the Apple symbol) select Preferences and TURN ON Advanced tools !
From the other window - drag and drop the imported clips one at a time or select more at a time (but iMovie will have comments on this (but it doesn't matter ))
When clips are copied over to the new project and edited as You like them (shorted, text set and audio added at Your liking) - Then You can select Share - And do Share to Media Browser and as Large (not HD)
