I just want to go back to how it /used/ to work

Itunes 7 has been a total bust.
I've lost tv shows that I downloaded when the machine locked up on the 'processing file' stage (that took emails to allow me to enable again). It's taking forever to download 30min shows that used to download quicker than it'd take to watch the previous show (Daily Show and Colbert report) I've got crackly sound, jerky video, all on a machine that used to play the downloads fine.
I use Itunes for the TVshows moreso than the music, but until they get this truly terrible version of Itunes working, I'll e investigating if I can stop the purchase of season passes until it works.
I bought them knowing I can download and play them fine. Mid-season pass, the video's are doubled in size and causeing me problems to the level that I don't think it's worth me using this anymore.
If there was an option on the size of download, then that might be viable. If I could restrict the amount of downloads at one time, that perhaps could help. If it just worked the same way that it used to, then I'd be perfectly happy (as the new front end looks pretty enough, it's the back end of actually PLAYING the content that's broken).
But as it is, I'm having a VERY BAD experience with this Itunes7.
How defeat could be snatched from the jaws of victory like this is beyond belief.
For the reference, there's nothing else running on the machine, it's uptodate with drivers/patches/antivirus disabled. Maybe it's the processor being 1.5Ghz, but my point is that all the downloads USED to work perfectly fine, but now I have no choice and they've broken something that worked. I didn't ask for doubling of sizes and more hardware requirements. (though trying it on another, much faster machine (duo2 2ghz, 2gb ram, still exhibits troublesome behaviour.
So, I've read that there IS a workaround to get back to the old version, but I'm aghast that we need to do fairly techy things just to make our content play. What happened to Apple? Just works? Not even close.

I think my confusion was seeing multiple Old Firefox Data folders within the same folder. You could try this:
Open your ''current'' Firefox profile folder using
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
In the address bar of that window, click '''Profiles''' to move up a level to its parent folder. You should see your current profile folder there, and possibly others.
Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit
Copy your ''old'' profile folder from your Old Firefox Data folder (possibly the one that ends with .default?) into the normal Profiles folder alongside your current profile.
Click in the address bar of the window showing your Profiles folder, and copy the path.
Start up Firefox's Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
firefox.exe -P
(Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog. )
Click the Create Profile button, then when you get the option to choose a folder, open that up, paste the Profiles folder location, and select the folder you copied in. After finishing creating your "new" profile, start Firefox in that profile.
Is your old profile restored as you remember it?
Sometimes all this moving around of files can create issues, and if you were having problems before due to your reset, they will be back, but I think this is the fastest way to return to what you had before.

    Ok so my iphone 5s which was in top condition because i went out and bought an otter box. So over time i released i started having problems with my speakers. For example: if i put my phone on my speaker the person on the other side could not hear me. So i checked my warranty and since i got the phone in January its still covered. The phone is an gold edition iphone 5s. I called apple and they sent me a box where i could place my phone in and ship it back to apple. Now i have done this many times before with my other iphones because for some reason i always get broken iphones without softwares. So i get the box on 09/13/2014 and on Tuesday night which goes to Wednesday mail time 9/17/2014 my phone is in the mail place waiting to be shipped. Now i go online 9/21/201 and see that for the service request is still on step 1. Now as i noted i have done this plenty of times before with apple and i have gotten a replacement/returned phone within three days. So since it hasnt moved from step one i was worried and contacted apple. They have no information on my phone or where it might be at all. Fedex has no idea where my phone might be. My apartment has had no returned products back to my place. So i contact apple again and apparently their customer service has no online chat you have to call. Thing is i dont have a phone and cant borrow one. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME GET MY PHONE BACK, MY LITTLE MIND TOLD ME NOT TO SEND IT IN BUT I DID ANYWAY AND NOW IM STUCK WITHOUT A PHONE AND APPLE DOESNT CARE. I WILL NEVER EVER SEND MY PHONE TO EVER GET REPAIRED IF I GET THIS ONE BACK. I PULLED ALL A.S IN SCHOOL SO THAT I COULD BUY MYSELF THIS GIFT AND NOW ITS GONE.

    I would assume you copied the tracking number on the package? If so, simply go to Fedex (or whatever carrier it was) and check that tracking number and/or call them to ask what happened to it. And/or you do have the record of Apple sending you an email about the matter?
    If Fedex (or Apple) has no record and you do not have any proof that you shipped it, I don't believe that anyone can do anything. Not sure if your home insurance would cover this - probably not, but it's worth a phone call.

    You must boot from another drive in order to erase the system drive.
    Try starting up with Snow Leopard DVD inserted and C depress. That should get you booted from the DVD. Then start Disk Utitlity from DVD and erase the disk then you should be able to install Snow Leopard.
    Remember that everything will be removed from the disk when you erase it and install Snow Leopard so backup first.

    Did you migrate/transfer/copy your installation of Photoshop Elements 9 to this new iMac?

    Did you fail to import your photos before updating?  If so, then they are likely gone.  You can try restoring from backup.  If that fails then they are gone.  You should regularly import photos to your computer, most especially before any update.
    Did you fail to transfer any purchases on iphone ( that were not on your computer) to your computer before updating?  If so, then you will have to redownload:
    Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

    You are not going to be able to run your old system from the backup on this old computer as the hardware is incompatible.
    You need to get a new computer or a refurbished one.

    So, after it charged and was still plugged in, I deleted the Exchange account and then reset it holding down the sleep wake buttons until the apple logo appeared. I also changed the limit on my emails to 3 days instead of 1 week.  It turned on, so I turned it off and let it charge overnight.  This morning, it stayed on for 3 whole hours and then shut itself off again.  I had to try 5 times to get it to come back on.  Now, a message appeared that Exchange cannot verify a server, I can't see the full name of the server anymore, but it is *.hotmail.com GlobalSign Root CA from Microsoft. So I'm selecting Accept to see what happens.  I'm very discouraged, I need my phone to be reliable for my work.  It was reliable for 11 months without one problem, and now since I downloaded iOS 7, it hasn't been on for one full day since.

    Based on the information that you have supplied, you have a Early or Late 2008 MBP.  Maximum RAM that it will accept is 6 GB with the following specifications:   200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM.

    The helpfulness of answers is limited by the details provided.  Just saying it does not work, or I got an error does not provide much to go on.  How is it not working?  What happens or does not happen?  Is an error returned?  If so what error.  Are you sure you are logging in with your home sharing ID?  It is not the same as your Apple ID or iCloud ID.
