I just wanted to do a commentary.... Why is this happening?

Hello all, glad to be on the forums, I sure hope you can solve my problem as I simply cannot find a solution anywhere, whether on Help or on the internet.
My hardware is a 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5 imac.
I just got Premiere pro cs5 and it's wonderful. I have recorded some footage and want to record a voice-over for it in real time, so I can comment as it's happening, director commentary style. Now, here's the rub:
1. I select the channel I wish to record onto and access the audio mixer.
2. I click the "enable recording" button for the above track. a message appears saying "Your current hardware does not have any input channels. Please use Preferences->Audio Hardware to correct this problem." You got it!
3. I go to Audio Hardware. I notice the default device is "built-in Output". I change it to "built-in input/Built-in output" ( I have also tried System Default and Built-in microphone.).
4. After this one of two things happen. Either it crashes after a few seconds (lucky I didn't save the preferences), or it's fine until I press the aforementioned "enable" button and then I get an error message, THEN it crashes.
At one point I thought I got around this by using a USB headset, but then when I pressed the enable button, Nothing happened. No drop down menu, no red colour, no nothing.
Puhleeease help me if you can, it would make my job 100x easier if you did. Thank you very much!

In case you have not guessed by now, I am a PC-only guy, so any Mac advice is just tid-bits that I have picked up here, since CS3 went X-platform. I am not really exactly sure what iSight is, but assume that it is a utility to do Webcam from the computer, plus Audio. Also, I have seen references to two iSight utilities. Seems (again, the PC-guy) that one is a more advanced program, while one is included with the OS. Do not know if one replaces the other, or if a user had both, they could either work together, or conflict.
Now, per your next post, did you find the right spot to plug in that mic? Even though my laptop is about 4 years old, I still need to put on my reading glasses and check those little icons, when I go to plug in things that I do not use everyday. Did the right connector get things fixed?

I just want to save my photos- why is this so fraught with danger?

Many of you must have had this problem: iPhoto is full (I currently have over 2,500 images in there) .. and it is really slow to open and operate. The solution seems to be to empty out contents - copying them to an external HD or onto my iPod being used as an external hard drive. But my Firelite HD has a"Back-up express" feature ... and surely when it comes to read an empty iPhoto, that is what it will transfer to the copy on the Hard Drive? Isn't there a simple and safe way to put my precious photos out of danger, so that I can move on with my life!!??

I have my external partitioned. One partition is where I have Super Duper! sync my User's folder. The other partition is where I manually copy all my dated Photo folders and dated video clip folders, and backup iPhoto libraries.
By the way, with only 2,500 images in your iPhoto library, it should not be that slow. I do think that it is best to have smaller libraries for speed though.
To backup the library just copy the iPhoto Library folder to the external (partition it if necessary) Once it is on a separate partition you can then launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed until you get a message to create or open another library. Navigate to the external and highlight the iPhoto Library folder and click "open". When iPhoto opens the library make sure all is fine.
Now close iPhoto.
Navigate to your Pictures folder and delete the iPhoto Library folder. It would be a good idea to burn the entire folder first so you now have two backups, one on DVD and one on the external.
Now Option launch iPhoto and this time choose to create a new library.
iPhoto will now use this new library to import photos to.

I am running 4.0 version, and each time I open Firefox, I get a software update that says "Downloading Firefox / connecting to the update server", but it just STICKS there??? Why is this happening?

I am running Firefox 4.0 version, but for some reason, it tries to download updates and then gets stuck on trying to connect to the update server. This has been happening the past few days. When I close the update, I can proceed in Firefox without incident (that I know of).

If you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and remove the Firefox program folder to do a clean install of the new version.

* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

It is not Pages '09 that is broken.
I am back in Mavericks and testing Pages 5.2.
There are improvements, we shall see how useful, but in less than a minute I have already discovered bugs.

Hi. I just downloaded Firefox 4. Some of the new features are missing such as the new "Firefox Button" and the new location for the bookmarks button. It almost looks just like Firefox 3. I am using Windows XP on this desktop computer. On my laptop, running Windows Vista, Firefox 4 has all the updates advertised. Why is this happening? How do I fix?

Whilst I don't have an answer, I hope a knowledge specialist does.I've seen numerous posts like this.After 10.2 update I lost library and haven't been able to actually connect my iphone to itunes for the upgrade. Each time I connect the iphone my system crashes. There was NOTHING wrong with my itunes or system until the point of update. There doesn't seem to be support, despite the extent of this problem. My iphone seems to need an update as its overheating and battery life is a nanosecond. BEYOND FRUSTRATED! All input welcome.

It's probably happing because photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days (even though your last 1000 photos will remain on your devices until deleted). When you enabled photo stream on your PC you would have only received photos from the last 30 days.
To transfer older photos to your computer, create a shared photo stream that contains them and invite yourself as a subscriber (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmc0cd7e99).

Your daughter must have signed into your iCloud account, perhaps when she updated her phone. You can confirm this by going to Settings>iClloud on her phone and seeing if she is using the same iCloud ID.
To fix this you would need to migrate her phone to a separate iCloud account. To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos that she wishes to keep on your phone to her camera roll by opening her my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tapping the share icon (box with upware pointing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.
Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and provide the password when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone. This only deletes the account from her phone, not from iCloud; it won't effect your device(s). When you delete the account you will be asked if you want to keep or delete the iCloud data from her phone. If she needs to migrate a copy of the data to her new account, choose Keep; otherwise, choose Delete. Then sign back in with a separate Apple ID to create her new account and if migrating data to the new account, choose Merge when prompted.
Once she is on a separate account, if she migrated a copy of the data to her new account you can go to icloud.com from your computer, sign into her new iCloud account and delete your data from her account.

Do not worry. Hold Sleep (the button you have at the top of the phone) and Home buttons at the same time until your phone restarts, and then try installing the iOS update again.

You should really read the manual.

Restore. When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them. What program did you use to import them? Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

Try resetting it. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds. Hopefully you will see the Apple logo.
If it's a brand new iPad Mini (with retina display), it is under warranty. You can always take it to an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Center for service.
