I keep getting a pop up that says I need to update, but when I click on the button it simply continues to load saying, "conecting to the update server" What is the deal?

There is also a "Hide" button at the bottom, but if I click that the window disappears. I have tried leaving it open, but nothing happens.

had a lot of trouble with this too. I had tried everything, from the internet time zone changing, restarting computers, physical time zone changing, firewalls, all that, and nothing worked.
but i just tried this and it worked.
1. in iTunes, go to Store, then go to authorize computer
2. sign in with your AppleID, and authorize your computer to purchase iTunes stuff.
that's it.
I scoured the internet and found nothing that said that had that as a solution.

This message is displayed if your iOS device has been trying to complete a restore for more than three days. This can occur if your restore has been interrupted due to network connectivity issues or some other problem occurs.
Being that this is the case, you would want to go back to the article it seems you were referred to us from and try to restore from your icloud backup again:

That's not what it is. I have just started getting the exact same pop-up, and I am using a 5th gen. iPod Touch. It can't receive carrier messages, being that it only has WiFi access to the internet.
What is happening to me is this: I start playing the TicBits "Sudoku " app. A couple of minutes into the game, the app starts getting sluggish, and cannot keep up with my fingers... I touch the screen, and it takes longer and longer for the game to respond to my touches while trying to fill in the numbers in the sudoku puzzle. Eventually, this stupid pop-up interrupts. If I hit cancel, it might pop up two or three more time in a row. If I hit OK, it pulls up the app store (I have just immediately hit the home button and restarted the sudoku game up to this point, but I will try to remember to let it take me all the way to the app it is trying to sell next time so I can report back, but I assume it's going to try to get me to download Candy Crush Saga).
I do not have Candy Crush installed nor do I want to install it). It sounds like you have the Find my iphone Activation lock for sure. Go to www.icloud.com/find and see if you put in that Apple ID that is coming up and yoru password to see if you are able to sign into the account that way to turn it off. If you are unable to, you will have to contact AppleCare by phone (chat cannot handle account lock outs or forgotten password due to not being able to verify your identity) and see if they can reset it. And are you sure the Apple ID that is coming up yours?

How old is your Mac? If it's very recent you need to update via the App Store
If you purchased at the App Store you need to update via the App Store
Otherwise you update via Softare Update
If you have moved iPhoto from the default location (i.e. into a Folder) then the updater won't find it. Move it back.
If you have renamed iPhoto, the updater won't find it. Change it back.

Try restarting your router by removing power to it for 30 seconds. This may correct the problem.

I typed a Name in Manually (rather than using the blue + icon)
I clicked on the "to" name and got this

I don't get a Bonjour Option here.
I do get a Jabber ID showing up for them but for soem reason it does not list my "From" account.
I would say that I have seen multiple "To"s and the same for the "From" choices and I think I have seen the Bonjour one listed.
However the "To" And "From"s don't seem to match and it appears you can iMessage Jabber names/ID or Jabber AIM names (which you can't in either case)

Not using any mouse pad, I have a very smooth desktop. But I just tried to use a sheet of A4 printing paper, but no result, the problem persisted.
Someone on this forum suggested, that USB3 may interfere with the magic mouse.
I have 2 LaCie HDD's about 70 cm away from the mouse, I use them on Thunderbolt. But in operation or not - the result is the same, the mouse plays up! Just now I was clicking the desktop and the mouse created a new folder!!
