I keep getting Adobe Acrobat Updater message. I am using 9.5.2. Keep getting this message(see below)

"Adobe Acrobat Updater has not been able to check for updates recently. Check online to see if solutions are available from the Adobe Web site."
Can anyone help?
Thanks, Alan

As Bill suggest, update Acrobat manually. Here are the settings to disable Auto Update.
Lauch Acrobat.
Click on "Edit" -> "Preferences" -> Updates (on the right side of the panel).
Select the radio button "Do not download or install updates automatically".
Click on "OK".

  • How can I get Adobe Acrobat 7 to embed a specific font?

My Adobe Acrobat 7.0 does not have Times New Roman listed as a font. It lists the Times fonts with PS
after the names, but not regular Times. When I pdf, the Times New Roman is not embedded. What can
    I do?

Thank you. This information has allowed me to solve the problem!  Laura

A particular PDF file can have fonts embedded within it, or may refer to fonts installed in the operating system - but in either case it uses the Postscript name of the font, not the common name seen on menus. This ensures that when fonts are substituted or edits are made to the PDF file, the correct version and vendor are matched, not just the common name. Postscript names are unique, and often end with the initials of the vendor (LT = Linotype, MT = Monotype, etc.). "Times" on a font menu refers to the Linotype font "Times-Roman" (sold by Adobe and others), and "Times New Roman" refers to the Monotype font usually named "TimesNewRomanPSMT" (a Postscript font in a TrueType package, which is part of the standard set on Windows). They look the same from a distance, but internally they are different enough that a direct replacement is not normally possible. If you ever need to work out which has been used and cannot inspect the metadata, look very closely at the number "5" - in the Linotype font it has a tiny serif on the top right corner.  Embedding a font into a file has no effect on Acrobat whatsoever (lisabritne, what you're saying makes no sense).

Isabellasf have you ran the installation files which were downloaded?  By default they are downloaded to the download folder within your User folder.

  • How do I get Adobe Acrobat to update automatically?

When I open a pdf I get a message that says, "Adobe Acrobat Updater has not been able to update in a while". Then it gives me the option to click a link to search for a problem online. I end up with a million update options but have no idea which one to click on. How do I get it to update automatically?

Duplex is a property of the printer and by itself Acrobat cannot globally set the attribute.
You might create (install) a second instance of the printer and name it accordingly - "Duplex Printer"

  • Error Message reads: "Adobe Acrobat Updater Certificate failed to install."

I am unable to make any updates to my Adobe programs (including creative suite CS3). Everytime I try, I type in my password, but I always get the same error message: Adobe Acrobat Updater Certificate failed to install.
I believe this is happening because I actually inherited my Adobe programs, including the MacBook Pro the programs are installed on. The owner used to be a relative who, sadly, passed away. I thought I had changed everything to be under my name as the owner, but having never done it before it's possible I missed something? Perhaps my relative's name is still recognized as the owner?
Please help as this is wreaking havoc in many "little" ways...
    Thanks.

Had the same problem. Found two updaters on the computer. Go to "applications/utilities/adobe utilities". Threw away the folder "Adobe Updater5". Ran the "Adobe Updater6/Adobe Updater.app". Problem gone.

  • I purchased adobe acrobat but every time I try to open it I get a message saying trial has expired

I purchased adobe acrobat but every time I try to open it I get a message saying trial has expired.
Acrobate downloaded successfully.  no problem there.  but it won't open.  only gives me the error message that trial has expired and do I want to buy it.  i already bought it so...  i'm stuck.  I have tried shutting everything down and starting again (twice) still the same error.  tried re-downloading. no help.  any ideas?

Is it giving you any option to sign in or license this software. If yes click on sign in/License this software to proceed further and activate it. If it is perpetual license activate by entering your serial key and signing in and if it is a subscription then just sign in with your Adobe it an dit will get activated.

You need to contact iTunes support and send an email by following the link I posted.
    Simply going there does nothing.

  • Error 1923: Adobe Acrobat Update Service (AdobeARMService) could not be installed

When I try to update my copy of Adobe Reader, I get
Error 1923: Adobe Acrobat Update Service (AdobeARMService) could not be installed.
Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services.
This occurs even when I run the install program with "Run as Administrator".
And it occurs for release 11 and the older release 10.
How do I get around this problem?

  • What is the Adobe Acrobat Updater PDF Repair Setup Computer Freeze Solution?

I'm using CS4 Creative Suite 4 Design Premium.
The Adobe Acrobat Updater keeps urging me to upgrade to Acrobat 9.3.3.  When I attempt to do so, I get a Repair Setup screen saying, "Acrobat has detected that there are missing components that require repair.  Select the optional components you would like to repair and click Continue.  Deselect a component to completely remove it.  Click Cancel to cancel the component repair process."  The Adobe PDF Printer is shown with a checkbox next to it.
At this point, the check box next to the Adobe PDF Printer, the Cancel button, and the Continue button are all not operable.  The whole update process becomes frozen.  Even a Force Quit will not remove the updater from the screen.  The only way to get rid of it is with a restart.
This keeps happening over and over again and is becoming annoying.
How can this problem be resolved?
    Please advise.
    Thanks!
MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Mac OS 10.5.8

Look to see if something similar to:
Adobe PDF or Adobe quality PDF when you go to the print menu and click on PDF.
http://screencast.com/t/MWI0M2Q1M here is expample of what you see in OSX.4.11
5 and 6 should have a choice of adobe pdf or adobe quality PDF.
IF it does delete the AdobePDF Print driver from Printer Utility and use this.
    read this:
http://indesignsecrets.com/acrobats-adobe-pdf-printer-replaced-in-snow-leopard.php although it has to do with Snow leopard it does alos mention X.5.8. as well.
Try repairing acrobat installation  then running the installer if it gets stuck 've run out of suggestions other than remove Acrobat all together evrything you can find anywhere on the computer (except your PDF and start from scratch. upgrading from 9.0 through each of upgradeds.

  • Can you help complete the Adobe Acrobat update installation?

The Adobe Acrobat Update Installation has been going on for hours. Can you please complete the installation?

My image is a screenshot saved to my desktop.
When the install fails, this is the message I get:
"The update could not be applied because the Adobe Reader application contents were modified since the original installation.
Please reinstall Adobe Reader and check for updates again.
    Error: 1301"
When this happened once before your tech had me work with the root user on my computer.
Today I went to the Error 1301 site and followed the directions: (System Preferences, Account Login, Login Options, and Join for Network Account Server; when the Directory Utility opened, I unlocked the Directory Utility  window, chose Enable Root User from the Edit menu, but couldn't accomplish the next step in the directions: "Enter the root password you wish to use in both the Password and Verify fields".

"Adobe Acrobat Updater is an application downloaded from the internet. Are you sure you want to open it? Safari downloaded this file on October 19, 2009."

There is a description of the solution on the Adobe website here:

In summary, open the AdobeUpdaterPrefs.dat file and change

When I open a PDF I get this message:  "Adobe Acrobat Updater has not been able to check for updates recently.  Check online to see if solutions are available from the Adobe website".  Is there a solution?

I never use the updater, but it may depend on the version you have also. It is easy enough to use the Help>Update or to go to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows (or similar for a MAC) to do the updates.

  • Adobe Acrobat Update Error 1612

I work in IT and I am trying to get Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.3.3 to update to the security patch, 9.3.4.  It is not working at all.  It comes up and says it will download and install but comes up with this:
When I click details it sends me to this link: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/852/cpsid_85258.html
This was no help at all as my error code was not even included.  I have tried uninstalling the program and a pop-up box comes up that says the same thing as the window above.  I tried running a repair or reinstalling it with the same result.  Please Help!  I need a solution so that I can get this updated and know what to do if this continues to be an issue.
    Thanks!
    Nate

You can try to validate all values in the SourceList registry under the key that looks like the one below:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\68AB67CA3301004F7706000000000000
Depending on the flavor of the Acrobat installed on your system, it may look a bit different, but
68AB67CA3301004F7706000000000000 portion always starts from 68AB67......
By validate I mean you need to make sure that all referenced pathes exist.
There is one more file that Windows Installer Service is relying on - this file is the original AcroPro.msi or AcroStd.msi file cached in the C:\Windows\Installer folder and renamed to something like 9f32196.msi (numbers are random)
For Acrobat Pro it should be around 6 MB - almost the same size as in the original installer package.
Double check that the file exists.
If it does not help, your best bet is to cleanup Acrobat from the system using recommended tools and start over.
Do not delete any files manually - it will corrupt your system further.

    Try the following:
uninstall any current Reader version using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
download and run the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Make sure you run both uninstaller & installer when logged in as an Administrator user.
