I keep getting an alert when I open iPhoto

Ever since I did the recent upgrade in iphoto to 9.3, i get an alert while iphoto is trying update thumbnails stating it can't find image. I am given the option to cancel or find. I have done both, to no avail. There are multiple photos it can't find and can take up to 20 minutes to get through, only to have iphoto to crash when I finally get in. Is there any way to find the photos, or make this go away. I saw an discussion on this from 9/11, did was was suggested, but it didn't work.

I don't know if I am running a managed or a referenced library. I tried to go into preferences under iphoto, but it won't let me in.

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.
I then tried to rebuild thumbnails andthen repair library, but none of this worked.

Get this alert when I try to open new version Firefox I just downloaded. I trashed the old version and re-downloaded and installed new version. Alert meaage: Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory. In a web search about this, I saw a suggestion to try using the AdBlock or NoScript add-ons to filter out possible ad server interference. AdBlock is easier to use than NoScript, so if you're inclined to try an add-on, try AdBlock first.
Also, it might go away when Yahoo tweaks their site again...

I don't know the exact fix for your problem, but there is a thread on the Microsoft answers page that talks about this error message being related to a particular key.

You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
          Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:

Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:

The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind VSearch has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

Hold on... advice to someone downloading from 1337x !!!
Until I saw your comment and googled the term, I had no idea that this was a "downloaded" file. I assumed the "1337x" reference was to dimensions/resolution and Noir referred to genre. (I.e., I use similar notations the differentiate files compressed for TV playback comparisons.) In any case, the advice is the same irrespective of the source.

Not necessarily. Thousands of movies are probably downloaded daily as legal purchases from such vendors as iTunes. Thousands more are available for free in the public domain, open source/community videos listings, and under Creative Commons Licensing. In short, there are many legal sources of downloadable content and you should not automatically jump to the conclusion that everyone is a crook.

I am having Spell Check probs too - it underlines, but that's all. I Googled and tried 5 different places for an answer - even 'jumped the pond'....but got no answers.
i started a thread, "Spell Checker on the fritz!!", and got one good and reasonable answer...
only it didn't work. It involved a .plist file, and once you toss one and do a re-start, it's supposed to re-build itself. But, no, SpCk still 'on the fritz'. I'm going to do one more re-start, but otherwise....
May the first one on either thread that gets an answer that works - PLEASE let us all know.

2. Disconnect from internet.
3. Disable Firewall/Security software.
4. Run install. Note that it installs Application Support and a bunch of other software this time.
5. Run iTunes.
6. Enable Firewall/Security software.
7. Reconnect to internet.
8. Download Watchmen Director's Cut post haste.
