I keep getting an error message when I try to update my apps telling me to wait, but it's still not working and I am having problems syncing my phone when the is computer is already authorised

The message says "There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (20)"
It also says that not all my stuff on my iphone is not authorised for the profile on my computer when it's all the same one.
I've noticed other posts satying to go to library> caches, to remove the apple store cache and re-start but I can't find a library or cache file on my mac (running OS X 10.9)
Can anyone help me pretty please?

Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

Either way the result is the same... if you forgot (or don't know) your passcode, restore the device from backup on the last computer it was synced with when the passcode was turned on... this will remove the passcode. If you do not have access to the last computer it was synced with, you will have to force it into recovery mode & restore as a new device.

This means that you have a higher version( Probably XI) installed, if not try and look for any left overs of Acrobat (any Version) using the below mentioned URL, clean it and then try the installation again.
Manually remove Acrobat 8 | Windows this is an old article, please make sure that you only refer to it to find the files (location of the files would change depending on the OS)

This I did using our imac and hopefully saved my software.. The restore did not work and now my pad will still not open iTunes and I no longer have my apps. What can I do to get my purchased books etc. back and open iTunes again?

Most of your purchases content can be downloaded again via the Purchased tabs in each of the store. I realize that this will be a problem for the iTunes Store on the iPad, but that has nothing to do with apps, since apps are in the App Store.
If you backed up synced with iTunes before you restored the iPad, your content should be in iTunes on your Mac and you should be able to sync it back again.

Why do I keep getting an error message everytime I try to burn a cd

Please help, for days now I have not been able to burn a CD. Everytime I try to burn a disc, I keep getting the message "The attempt to burn a CD failed.The burn failed because of a medium write error". Search the forum (I use a general web search engine) and you will find hundreds and hundreds of posts about this, spanning over a decade. You may even find one of the several posts I make about this each month.
Try restarting your computer.
Try a slower burn speed.
Try a different brand of media.
Try using an optical drive cleaning disc.
See if you can burn successfully outside of iTunes. There's many free burning utilities out there (check www.pure-mac.com). If those fail then it is likely something more fundamentally wrong with the drive. Any Macbook old enough to be running 10.5.8 may well be old enough to need a new optical drive.

I just reinstalled my PS7 onto a new computer, Vista, and now I keep getting an error message which says "photoshopelementssyncagent.exe-no disk. I turned off Firewall, allowed Firewall to let in program and nothing works. I can't even get into

DURIM - Okay. I would expect the "Cache Warning" message because your default directories would not be the same as the ones in the settings file I generated.
If you go back to the "7.0" directory and open the "Logs" folder, can you copy the "Audition Log.txt" file and send it as an attachment to [email protected]? We'll take a look in that logfile and see if it gives us more information about why this is failing now.
Also, do you have any other Adobe applications installed on this machine, such as Premiere Pro? If so, do they launch as expected or fail as well?
I do have the trial Pro version of Adobe reader, but I have not activated it, because I fear the same thing will happen did it. I cannot afford to activate the subscription for that product and take the chance of it not working either. I depend on those two programs religiously. Here is the files that you requested. I am having the same problem and took the following steps to mitigate it to no avail.
1. I deleted the Facebook app on the phone and turned off Facebook in the iPhone's system-wide settings.
2. I re-enabled Facebook in the iPhone's system-wide settings and reinstalled the Facebook app and logged in again. It worked. For about an hour.
3. I completely restored the phone to a previous backup (before the problems started) and reenabled Facebook .... reinstalled the app.... and now it works intermittenly. But it hasn't worked in about 12 hours now (just tried a few minutes ago).
Please advise.

Let's try something relatively simple. Download and save a copy of the installer to your hard drive (don't run the install on line and don't start the install just yet):

Now right-click on the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) that you downloaded and select "Run as administrator".
Does that go through any better for you?
