Why do I get this error when I try to install Reader XI in Windows 8.1?

This is my personal home computer. I have no administrator to contact. I have gone through all the trouble-shooting suggestions provided by Adobe but I still get this message trying to download Reader XI or X. I previously had Reader on this computer but it started failing so I uninstalled it and now I'm trying to re-install it. My antivirus system is Webroot SecureAnywhere and it says there are no problems with my computer. I'm using a 6 month old Dell computer and System Mechanic also says there are no problems with my computer.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.I have the exact same problems as reported by Vector at the start of this thread. Running Windows 8, Reader stopped responding, so I uninstalled and tried to reinstall XI, I get Error 1303, with the issue being permissions on that same directory (x86\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader). If I open Explorer and try to navigate to that folder, I see it there under the Reader 11.0 folder, but if I double-click I cannot even open it, I get an "is not accessible. Access is denied" error. I checked the Security settings on the Reader 11.0 folder, SYSTEM, Administrators, Users, and TrustedInstaller all have Full Control. When I go into Advanced and check the box for "Replace all child permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object" and click Apply, I get an error for the \Reader folder (Failed to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied"). I tried deleting the Adobe folder on down, hoping I could just start fresh with the re-install, but it does not allow me to. Completely stuck. Any ideas?

I keep getting "1317 Error" when I try to install iPod software to my PC

under normal circumstances, an uninstall or an upgrade (which uninstalls the previous version of itunes) doesn't touch your library or music files.
but as insurance against disasters, it's a good idea to have backups. these Buegie posts are good resources on starting and maintaining backups:

I keep getting and error when I try to start my iTunes. "Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, Then install iTunes again. Error 2(Windows error 2)".... I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and the error still occurs!!! This started happening after I installed the 10.3 update
I took the time to research it and come across a couple of people who experienced the same trouble and so I listed some of there steps(with Credits) and some people said that they worked.

1. Save iTunes install file to your desktop.
2. Disconnect from internet.
3. Disable Firewall/Security software.
4. Run install. Note that it installs Application Support and a bunch of other software this time.
5. Run iTunes.
6. Enable Firewall/Security software.
7. Reconnect to internet.
8. Download Watchmen Director's Cut post haste.

Try to go to Settings and then Store. Tap to your Apple ID and select View Apple ID. Now choose to check your payment information and when you're done tap Done. I had to rewrite my three digit code of the credit card and now it works.
Oh, I also activated Genius for Apps but I don't think it makes any difference. -
I am upgrading from iPhone 3 to 5. I have backed up my 3 on iTunes. I keep getting an error when I try to download all info to the 5. The error says I have disconnect my phone but I haven't. Happened multiple times. Any help would be appreciated.

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.

When you click the partion tab. There is option on the bottom of the window. Click on that there there are these options.

I have an Intel Desktop iMac and I am upgrading from Tiger to Snow Leopard. I keep getting an error when it tries to load the Mac OS X update combined. It says that it was corrupted during download. Have try loading from Apple website Mac OS X V10.6.7 upgrade combined but it still won't do it? Any other suggestions. The printer is not working either - I am not sure if they are connected. Everything else is fine.
Please excuse, but I have to ask an obvious question: Did you already update using the Snow Leopard Retail install DVD? (You must do this first; 10.6.7 is just an update if you already have 10.6.) Are you, then, trying to update from whatever version was on the install DVD to 10.6.7?
Otherwise, I'd keep trying. The 10.6.7 Combo is a huge update. -

AFTER DOWNLOADING THE LATEST VERSION OF ITUNES, I CAM GETTING AN ERROR WHEN I TRY TO OPEN IT. MSVCR80.DLL WAS NOT FOUND. UNABLE TO LOCATE COMPONENT. BEFORE I REMOVE THIS VERSION AND TRY TO RELOAD AGAIN, JUST WANTED TO BE SURE I WOULDN'T LOSE ALL 200 PURCHASED SONGS ON MY PC.
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Thanks for your suggestion. I started to sign off, but was uncomfortable deleting iCal data from my iMac in case there were old entries not sync'd to iCloud. So I decided to only delete Notes data from my iMac.
I first checked Notes on different devices and saw that they contained more data than my iMac, so I was pretty certain this is what I had in iCloud (another way would be to log on to icloud.com). I then unchecked Notes under System Preferences>iCloud, which prompted me to delete Notes from this Mac. I clicked on Delete from Mac, allowed it to finish, then clicked on the Notes checkbox again, and it sync'd the data from iCloud back to Notes on my iMac. -

I have un installed and reinstalled all my Apple Related stuffOkay ... it's sounding a bit like you've got something stuck in your "pending update" machinery (the stuff that gets invoked when an update requires a restart). That can interfere with iTunes installs, although it's more common to see a lot of 8000FFFF errors in the Update History when that's going on.
Rather than experimenting with 8000FFFF instructions, I think instead we should try getting you on the radar screens of some Windows Updates specialists.

In your post there, describe the error message you're getting when installing updates, and the other symptoms (otherwise updates are apparently okay, and so on).

an "itunes has encountered a problem ..." message on launch citing that offset is almost invariably caused by a broken QuickTime. (itunes needs a fully functional QT in order to work properly.)
try to open your QuickTime. does it launch properly? or do you get an error message, or some other peculiar behavior, or find that it isn’t on your PC at all?
if you get an error message (or peculiar behavior, or find that it’s missing), the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.

When I initially open InDesign the document has a distiller message error. I'm not sure what that means but I'm sure it's contributing to the problem. After trying Peter's work around it acted like it was exporting but at the last minute failed to. Other ideas/solutions welcome.
