I keep getting email from Apple telling me that my account has been suspended. It looks genuine but I am having my doubts.

Hi. I keep getting emails supposedly from apple telling me my account has been suspended. I am probably worrying about nothing. Has anyone else been getting these.

If in doubt send them to Apple at [email protected]

It did not come from Apple. Do not click on the link and do not supply your password. It is a scam. You can report the phishing email to Apple here:

Once you have done so, delete it.

  • I recently received 2 emails from Apple informing me that my Id has been used to purchase games to download to computers not associated with my ID.  If I didn't initiate the download, I was advised to change my password.  How do  know the email is le

I recently received 2 emails form Apple checking if I had purchased 2 games from the App store that were downloaded to computers not associated with my ID. They then advised me to change my password if I had not made those purchase.  How do I know that emails are legit?  I am afraid that they are scams to get my information by going on  to supply information.  I had checked my credit card just now and no transactions have been posted yet. Thanks!

You can always manually go to http://appleid.apple.com and change your password there, to avoid any links from the emails.
That's the only place you should use to change your Apple Id password.
With that said, do you know if anybody may have used your Apple Id to download things? Like kids to a new computer or tablet?

  • Can't access my email. Receiving error message that my account has been suspended and that I need to contact customer service. How do I get a phone number?

The details are in the question. Receiving error message that my account has been suspended. Looking for a phone number to call and speak to someone. Or, please have someone call me at '''*removed*'''.
'''Phone number removed by moderator to protect privacy'''

Note that mozilla does not have a phone number and would never charge for services, if there is a page that says so, its a lie.

  • HT5312 I keep getting an email from Apple telling me that my Apple Id has been successfully reset when I did not reset them.  Started early June 2013 and in a month i have had to reset it three times. Apple support was not helpful.  Any suggestions?

I keep getting an email from Apple telling me that my Apple Id has been successfully reset.  I did not reset it.  Since early June 2013 to now i have had to reset it 3 times.  It is not an easy one to remember either. Initally I thought it was some pfishing expedition but no purchases have been confirmed by my visa.  My kids use my Apple Id to download APs and I am informed when this happens.  Nothing strange happening on the financial site at all. Just frustrating as we have to keep updating the ID to use messenger, I cloud etc on all of the devices.  I called Apple Support and the girl initally said she knew nothing about this but then spoke to someone else and they are aware of this ongoing problem and are working on it.  Any suggestions? Are others having the same problems?

If the system didn't ship with Mountain Lion originally and you didn't purchase Mountain Lion yourself, then you will need to purchase. A purchase by the system's original owner cannot be transferred to you.
Unless you have another system on which you have purchased Mountain Lion, you will need to first install Mac OS X 10.6.8 on the iMac, for which you'll need either the original installation disks, if the iMac came with 10.6, or a retail copy of 10.6. Install 10.6 and upgrade to at least 10.6.6, and then you can buy Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store, presuming of course that the imac can support Mountain Lion. See:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade/
    Regards.

  • I keep getting emails from Apple support about changing my password.

I keep getting emails from apple saying someone is trying to reset my password when I have not done such a thing. A couple days ago after the 4th email I decided to reset it myself just incase. Now im still getting a email from apple stating that someone is trying to reset it.

Apple do send out an email if you change your password that is genuine
You could change the password to see if the emails are genuine or phishing by getting a genuine email from Apple
No way otherwise if you cannot tell if they are genuine or otherwise

  • I received an email from verizon telling me that my account is locked and to click on a link to verizon/security to unlock it.  Is this a legitimate email from verizon?

I received an email from Verizon telling me that my account is locked and to click on a link Verizon/security to unlock it.  Is this a legitimate email from Verizon.  How can I find out what this means?  My phone is working.

I have never heard of that before, if Verizon Wireless would do anything with your account they would be calling you (removed). In my opinion you should disregard the email.

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
Are you using a non BT email address ? What email client program are you using ? (e.g. Outlook, Thunderbird, Windows Mail)
If you are getting these emails after sending emails, or seemingly at random ? If the latter, then see my shortcuts (link below) options 15a-c.
If you are not using a non BT email address and getting these error messages on sending emails, then you have an incorrect setting in your mail client.
Sorry for the questions, but a little extra info will help determine the cause.

I received an email from Apple telling me how to reset my Apple ID password but I know I didn't request it. Anyone else? Suggestions? Should I just ignore it?

Did the email contain your name? Never click on a link in an email like that and do no enter any personal info after clicking in an email.
There have been quite a few people getting these emails. They are a phishing attempt to get your personal info.

  • Why am I getting Emails from Apple in turkish to an Email-address that isn't used for my Apple ID anymore ?

Hi everybody, I already apologize if this isn't the right community for my problem. This whole thing is very confusing  so I really hope someone can help me
I used Gmail as my official email account and it was also the Email address for my Apple-ID (for many, many years..)
Strangely, a few months ago, I got an Email from Apple saying that my Apple-ID was being used for Imessage and Facetime on other devices (in Turkey?). I googled it and found out that it might be a fishing mail so I quickly changed my password and also the Email-adress for my Apple.ID – which means that the Gmail-account was not longer in use for Apple anymore.
But here's the problem :  I still get Emails from Apple (in Turkish) from time to time to my Gmail- account. They don't seem to be fishing Emails, though.  Another odd thing about that is, that the mails I receive at Gmail don't seem to be addressed to my CORRECT email-address.
While my adress looks like „[email protected]“ the Itunes mails I receive are addressed to '[email protected]“ .  I hope you know what I mean. There is no point between the names in my real address.
What could this be and how can I solve this problem ? It's really freaking me out.
    Thanks,
    D.

    Hi D.,
Unfortunately phishing is far too common these days. The articles below will help you determine the authenticity of the emails that you received.
