I keep getting "Flash outdated" messages. Firefox Plugin Check says it's up to date with version 11.2.202.418 but current version is *.425. Can't install.

I'm using Ubuntu 14.
Ever since the last few days (say, a week) i've been getting messages saying that Flash is outdated, and firefox blocks the plugin, so I have to unblock ("allow") every time I get to a new page. It's no big deal, but it's annoying and, for example, I can't watch movies on my fave movie page...
In firefox's Plugin Check page I get an "Up to date" message, but it shows version 11.2.202.418, wich is also the version on Ubuntu's Software Center , and current versione is 11.2.202.425. I've tried this instrucitons https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/keep-flash-up-to-date-and-troubleshoot-problems#w_updating-flash to install manually, but can't get to the place where firefox is installed.
I already moved from chrome to firefox because of chrome's repeated malfuntioning, I have nowhere else to go! (pity me).
Thank you all! And sorry for possible spelling/syntactical mistakes, english is not my first language.

I would think Unbuntu would have a update by now as 11.2.202.425 has been out from Adobe since December 9 as 11.2.202.42'''4''' and older is vulnerable.
Look for the '''.mozilla''' folder in home/ and create a folder named '''plugins''' then you can place the libflashplayer.so file there.
Now any install of Firefox and SeaMonkey will be able to use it.
Flash 11.2.202.425 tarball is at

  • I have updated my Adobe Acrobat plugin three times today but the firefox plugin check says it is out of date, a problem as I repeatedly encounter "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed" when I attempt to download pdfs.

    I am attempting to download pdf's from a library search on JSTOR. I can view the pdf but cannot download them as they say "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". I have been to the firefox plugin check and have updated Adobe Acrobat three times in the last hour, but it still says my plugin is not up to date. This leads me to believe that this may be the source of my crash errors.
    I updated Adobe Flash from the same firefox plugin check page and after one try it now says I am up to date, so my system is obviously accepting these updates.
    Help!!!!!

    The following solution is useful for people who have the full version of Acrobat 9, but are getting the error message "the Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". You probably want the features in the full version of Acrobat, but still need to be able to open PDF files from your Firefox browser.
    Go to Tools > Options > Applications. Scroll down and change all of the Adobe Acrobat files to open with Acrobat 9 (or whatever version you have) instead of "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)". This may not be as handy as having it use Acrobat inside the Firefox browser, but it will still let you open PDF files without having to uninstall the full version of Acrobat. Hope this helps.

  • Im trying to set up a connection to localhost from my mac but keep getting an error message: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost.

    Hi
    I'm new to working with Mamp, Dreamweaver and WordPress and am trying to work using the Firefox browser. unfortunately i keep getting the error message Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost. when i type the URL http://localhost/explore_ca/blog/wp-admin I cant use Dreamweaver with WP without this is there a reason for this and how do i get around it?

    1- Is your MAMP working '''whithout errors'''(does it show you errors while executing or running and enabling)?
    2- Have you tested other browsers? Is your problem still occuring?
    3- Are you using '''proxy '''or '''VPN '''(or setted a proxy server or VPN server on your Computer)?

  • Firefox Plugins Check says I need new Quicktime - but I don't

    The Mozilla "Plug-ins Check" page says I have an outdated version of QuickTime Plug-in 7.6.3. So, I click the link to update it. Which takes me to Apple's website. Where I download a new version of QuickTime 7. So I download it -- so far, so good -- but then, when I go to install it, the Install Manager says that I ALREADY have the most current version of QuickTime (version 10) on my Mac, and it won't let me proceed.
    So, now what? I can't find just a "plug-in" for Quicktime on Apple's website -- the only thing to download seems to be all of Quicktime. Should I disable the Quicktime 7 plug-in on Firefox? If I do, what will happen?
    I am running Mac OS 10.6.3 and QuickTime Player 10.0 (113), and Firefox 3.6.3.
    Thanks!
    == This happened ==
    Just once or twice
    == I ran the Mozilla Plugin checker

    The Firefox Plugins check URL does not distinguish at all between the different versions of OS X and different Apple OS X compatible computers, and the different versions of plugins for Firefox different versions of OS X, in the messages it generates.
    Therefore:
    a G3 PPC CPU machine user running OS X 10.3.9 (7W98) PPC or OS X 10.4.11 (8S2167) Intel;
    a G4 or G5 PPC CPU user running OS X 10.4.11 (8S165) PPC or OS X 10.5.8 (9L30) UB;
    an Intel CPU user running OS X 10.4.11 (8S165) Intel or OS X 10.5.8 (9L30) UB;
    will ALL get messages relating to updates (of ALL types, not only QuickTime, but also including Java, Microsoft Silverlight, and others) that are compatible (at this time) with OS X 10.6.0 (10A432) Intel - OS X 10.6.5 (10H574) Intel, completely regardless as to whether they can actually run under the different versions of OS X.
    Furthermore:
    1) A number of G3 PPC CPU machines did not ship with enough VRAM (16 MB VRAM minimum required - 64 MB VRAM or higher recommended) to be officially supported under QuickTime 7 builds; If the G3 PPC CPU machine is a tower models with PCI slots, then it is possible to upgrade to a PCI video card with more VRAM to meet those hardware requirements, but G3 CPU iMac, iBook, and PowerBook users have to stay with QuickTime 6.5.2 or QuickTime 6.5.3 (some OS X users have QuickTime 6.5.3 for Panther and Tiger builds installed, from what Apple's "Software Update" used to provide...), as the VRAM cannot be upgraded on non-tower models.
    Ridiculously, QuickTime 7.6.4 is the highest version that Apple supports under OS X 10.4.11 (8S165) PPC or OS X 10.5.8 (9L30) UB, and, OS X 10.4.11 users running Fiirefox 3.6.12 will get information directing them to update to QuickTime 7.6.6
    QuickTime 7.6.5 and 7.6.6 are supported under OS X 10.5.8 (9L30) UB (there is no real reason that Apple couldn't have supported QuickTime 7.6.5 and 7.6.6 builds under OS X 10.4.11 (8S165) PPC or OS X 10.5.8 (9L30) UB as well, as it's the same code base, besides the fact that Safari v4.1.3 (4533.19.4) for OS X 10.4.11 (8S165) PPC and OS X 10.5.8 (9L30) UB was just issued by Apple, so the 15 million G4 and G5 PPC users get updates for OS X 10.4.11 without getting a QuickTime 7 update keeping pace)
    The new QuickTime X is for OS X 10.6.x ONLY (currently OS X 10.6.0 (10A432) Intel - OS X 10.6.5 (10H574) Intel), and uses a different code base than QuickTime 7. Therefore, no one expects QuickTime X for OS X 10.4.11 builds, although QuickTime X still could be ported for the most recent OS X 10.5.x build, if Apple wanted to.
    In conclusion, be forewarned as well, that before updating any version of QuickTime 7 or installing OS X 10.5.x or OS X 10.6.x, OS X users should always back up ALL the contents of these folders:
    /Library/QuickTime
    and
    System/Library/QuickTime
    and
    ~/Library/QuickTime
    as some of Apple's installers and updaters can wipe the QuickTime files (codecs and components), installed in those locations.
    I hope this information helps shed some light on these subjects...

  • Keep getting flash player message...

    Hello,
    I keep getting a flash player message on the www.Vikings.com website.
    I already un-stalled and re-installed flash player already. However, the message keeps showing up.
    What am I missing?
    Thank you,
    James
    P.S. It shows up on both web browsers. Safari & FireFox

    Try running the browser(s) in Rosetta Mode. Do a Get Info on the original application file and under the General Section there is a Checkbox saying "Open Using Rosetta".
    NOTE! This will run the OSX native app in a 'compatible mode' to allow plugins that are not Intel-friendly to operate properly. This will force the app to ALWAYS run in Rosetta mode and will take a few seconds longer to launch the browser. This shouldn't be a problem for most people.
    If that IS an issue for you, try an alternate browser and see if Flash works. If the SAME error occurs, then put THAT application as "Rosetta Mode" and leave Safari as Intel-native.
    Yup - I had the same problem with Flash and the Rosetta Mode fixed the problem. Once Flash is redone in TRUE Intel mode for OSX then the problem will be solved.

  • I keep getting an error message there was a problem connecting to server.  URLs with the type "file" are not supported

    I keep getting an error messahe that says
    There was a problem connecting to the server.  URLs with type "file" are not supported
    Any ideas?

    Actually, in my case, turning off Time Machine didn't work. I had the same problem. We definitely traced it to Time Machine. The "Fix" was this: plugged in and designated different external HD as Backup volume. Then unplugged it and plugged in the original disc (after testing in in a different machine) and now the computer recognized it and error message stopped popping up. The Apple tech was as puzzled as I as to why this worked, but perhaps, forcing the machine to re-recognize it (or maybe even, gettting it recognized by a different machine first) somehow worked some magic.

  • Firefox disables my QuicktimePlayer plugin, although the plugin-check says it is up to date

    I am running Firefox 21 (I have not been prompted to update to 22 yet) on MacOS 10.6.8 and in the last two days when I try to view a page that requires the QuicktimePlayer plugin, I see an error message saying that the plugin is outdated and it has been disabled for safety reasons. I can re-activate it from the red icon that appears on the left of the address bar, but what I have noticed is that when I do the plugin check, QuicktimePlayer appears to be up to date! The version of the plugin is 7.6.6 and there is no newer version for my system as far as I know. Is there any way to fix this or is it a known bug?

    QuickTime Plugin 7.7.0 and lower (click-to-play), Mac OS X has been blocked for your protection.
    check: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/p408
    The plugin is being checked at the moment (see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=837377) so lets keep fingers crossed to see the problem resolved.

  • HT1349 I have installed and uninstalled iTunes on multiple occasions, but keep getting the error message that "Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes ..... Error 2 (Windows Error 2)".  Can't find any useful solution.  Can anyone help?  Pleeee

    I have instlled and uninstalled iTunes on multiple occasions but iTunes fails to start with message "Apple Application support is required to run iTunes .......... Error 2 (Windows error 2)".  Most most frustrating.  Can anyone help, pleeeeeeease!!

    iTunes "Apple Application Support is required... Error 2" and possible fix.
    Hi Redgilly (and others).
    I just resolved this on Win Vista (should apply equally for Win7 too). Please uninstall iTunes before proceeding though. I'll walk you through the process I followed, if you like you can jump straight to the Solution section.
    Problems:
    The initial error during the installation of iTunes was:
    An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken='1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x8007054F
    The error (after installing iTunes) when trying to run iTunes was:
    Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (Windows error 2).
    After trying various fixes around the forums I came across this MSKB article, which relates to the first installation error:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2688946
    This lead me to trying to install MS Visual C++ but I received the following error trying to install that:
    Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘Microsoft.VC80.ATL,type=”win32”,version=”8.0.50727.762”,publicKeyToken=”1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b”,processorArchitecture=”amd64”’. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070BC9. Assembly interface: IassemblyCacheItem, function: Commit, component: {837BF1EB-D770-94EB-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}
    Note: The installation of VC++ rolls back when it fails.
    Solution:
    Through this error I found this MSKB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946414
    The Automated MS "Fix It" msi package didn’t work.
    Note: Please backup your registry first (see the above MSKB article for instructions).
    I opened the registry and (as instructed in the MSKB article) deleted the following keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\
    PendingXmlIdentifier
    NextQueueEntryIndex
    AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving
    Reboot and reinstall iTunes.
    I hope this helps.

  • The Shockwave Flash 10.1 r82 plugin check says "VULNERABLE" and suggest an update for Adobe flash player 10.1. It may disable my antivirus. Is this safe? Is it the right update?

    I have Firefox 3.6.10.
    When I checked for plug-ins updates, it opened the "plug-in check" page and showed the Shockwave Flash 10.1 r82 as "vulnerable", explaining a potential security vulnerability and suggesting to update to latest version if existent, or if not,disable the plugin.
    The Adobe security advisory suggests to upgrade to the newest version Adobe Flash Player 10.1.85.3.
    When I click on it, it says Adobe Flash Player 10.1 only. It also says: "You may have to temporarily disable your antivirus software". Is this safe? Also: how do I know that the 10 . 1 version is the same as the 10.1.85.3 version?

    The [http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ Adobe Flash Player] page refers to 10.1, but the full version details for the latest release is 10.1 r85 which is a security update. You can get it from the above link, or use the manual installers available from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller
    You should not have to disable the Anti-virus software in order to install Flash, only do that if is is interfering with the installation.

  • Getting SQLSTATE:22001(Message : [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0]String data, right truncation) in SQL Server 2012 but in SQL server 2008 R2.

    I have an application which connects to SQL through ODBC 11.
    ODBC statement is :
    SELECT PID
    FROM PENTITY PENTITY01 WHERE ((NUM1 NOT BETWEEN ? + 10.7895 AND ? + 200.6734 AND NUM2 NOT IN (5996/ 8, ? - 89.3892, ? + 80.7543))
    and the SQLBindparameter statement is :
    static UCHAR num1[12]=12.589
    rc = SQLBindParameter(hstmt, 1, SQL_PARAM_INPUT, SQL_C_CHAR, sqlType, precision, scale,
    &num1, sizeof(num1), NULL);
    With this SQLBindparameter statement I am getting error, It is working without any error if I change the value to 12.
    The same code is working when connecting to SQL server 2008.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Nalsr,
    From my research, I found:
    "[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]String
    data right truncation" error may be returned from a call to
    SQLBindParameter if the size of the string parameter being used is greater than the size of the column being compared to. In other words if the
    string size of the <expression> to the left of the <comparison_operator> is less than the
    string size of the <expression> to the
    right, ODBC may return this error.
    The resolution is to make the string size of the <expression> to the
    right of the <comparison_operator> less than or equal to the
    string size of the <expression> on the left.
    It is difficult to track down this type of problem when third party development applications are being used. ODBC Trace can be used to help determine if this problem is occuring.
    Here is an example where the customer has submitted a query "select count(*) from type1 where type1 = ?", type1 is varchar(5) and the
    data type being passed by the application is char[9].
    Here is the relevant portion of the trace. The following information from the "exit" of SQLDescribeParam
    SWORD * 0x0095e898 (12)
    UDWORD * 0x0095e880 (5)
    Maps to the following with the actual value in parenthesis - SQL_VARCHAR Size 5:
    SQLSMALLINT *DataTypePtr
    SQLUINTEGER *ParameterSizePtr
    The "exit" value from SQLBindParameter provides the following
    information:
    SWORD 1 <SQL_PARAM_INPUT>
    SWORD 1 <SQL_C_CHAR>
    SQL Data Type SWORD 12 <SQL_VARCHAR>
    Parameter Size UDWORD 5
    SWORD 0
    Value PTR 0x0181c188
    Value Buffer Size SDWORD 5
    String Length SDWORD * 0x0181c103 (9)
    The string length parameter is the length of the
    string being bound to the parameter, in this instance there is a size mismatch which results in the SQLError and the SQLErrorW with the message "[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server
    Driver]String data
    right truncation" .
    Hope this could be helpful.
    Best regards,
    Halin Huang

  • I keep getting an error message when trying to connect to sync on my Android saying the user name and password are invalid.

    I am using Firefox 4.0 Beta 7 on both my Android as well as my laptop. I am trying to set up the sync feature and keep getting the error message on my Android saying that the username or password are invalid. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I have tried changing my password. I continue to get this error message.

    Can you try again with Firefox 4.0b8 (desktop) and 4.0b3 (Android)? We have changed the way that Sync setup works, and it no longer requires entering the password and sync key by hand.
