I keep getting the message 'The plug-in cannot open the broker'
I get this message when I am trying to download pdf files. Then either it downloads anyway OR everything freezes.
I don;t even know which plug-in is involved, never mind what the broker is.
Help!

I keep getting this message when I try to open FCP X. "The storage location 'brianmassman1' on this computer is already in use by 'brianmassman1' on 'Brian-Massmans-Computer-7". To access the location, quite Final Cut Pro on 'Brian-Massmans-Computer-7' or remove the location."
I have no idea what this means. Particularly the part about "Brian-Massmans-Computer-7." I don't even know what computer that is.
I'm guessing it could have something to do with the fact that I've still got FCP 5 installed. But it's not running.Try repairing permission in the Disk Utility and rebooting,

I get a message saying that "Excel cannot open the file
Every now and then, when I try opening an Excel file, I get a message saying that "Excel cannot open the file 'file.xlsx' because the file format or the file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension
matches the format of the file.I see this most often when a file has been transferred around a lot and gets corrupted due to bad sectors on hard drives,
bad thumb drives, etc...
Occasionally, I find a repair utility that will....kind of....fix it. You tend to lose all formatting and usually the user
would have to spend more time doing than life than simply starting from scratch. If on a file server, shadow copies
(previous versions) are a god send.
If it happens completely randomly, does it happen more often to the same group of people? Perhaps an update malfunctioned?
Reinstall Office? Try XLSX Open File Tool for recovery your documents (http://www.xlsx.openfiletool.com/)
There could be so many reasons this could happen, but all the above is where I'd start.

If yes

Why can't I open a pdf file on my desktop? I have Adobe Reader and running OS 10.10.1 I keep getting the same message: "Adobe Reader could not open '8pdk_96_4.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
I tried that.
I saved the file 8pdk_96_4.pdf to my desktop and tried to open it using Adobe Reader but I get the same message: Adobe Reader could not open '8pdk_96_4.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). -
I tried to delete my old version of firefox because it wouldn't open certain websites that safari would, when I download new firefox I keep getting this message when I try to open
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile:

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

I keep getting a message that my ipad2 cannot connect to the apple store.
I get onto the apple Store site and can see everything, but when I try to get a new app or update an existing app, I can't get a download, and get an error message instead. Anybody know why?
Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.
Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

Please, does anyone know why this would keep popping up? Wifi is working fine. It has happened to two different recipients. Have reset phone and settings etc.
Because the recipient's iOS device cannot be reached by iMessage at the time which has nothing to do with your iPhone.
Wi-Fi isn't required to exchange iMessages. -
I am running Windows 7 . It happened without any changes being made. I downloaded the install file several different times and even turned off my Kaspersky A/V when I installed.
Perhaps try downloading and saving a copy of the installer to a different (64-bit) PC. Copy the iTunes64Setup.exe installer to an external hard-drive, or a large-enough thumb drive or burn it to a CD-R. Carry the installer back to your PC, copy the installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install from the ExHD, thumb or CD-R.) Start the install by doubleclicking the iTunes64Setup.exe file.
Does that go through any better for you? -
When I click on Pages, I get a message that says it cannot open due to an error
I have iWork V9.0.03 and cannot get Pages to open. I need to update some things on a document and cannot get it to open or get Pages to open. I reinstalled iWork and even did the most recent update. Still have issues.
I really need Pages to get working as this is an important document. When all else fails & trying to fix things just seems to make matters worse, it's best to start over.
I have iWork 9.0.3 on disk. I deleted Pages and the other two programs found on that disk and reloaded iWork.
I hope you mean you have a CD/DVD from a retail box to install iWork '09 from. We'll start with deleting your current install. Please, don't do this unless you have the CD/DVD to reinstall from. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user. Yvan Koenig has written an AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his box.com account in for_iWork'09 > other_iWork'09 items > uninstall iWork '09.zip.
I'm trying to see if I can find the iWork 9.0.5 updater but It's no where to be found. I found Apple's article about it but there is no link. That's not really a problem since it's the iWork 9.0.4 updater that is needed for Snow Leopard. -
