I keep getting told that I have no more application memory and have to force quit applications. Why does this happen and how do I fix it? This issue has only started since I started using Mavericks 10.9.2.

Have you checked how much space you have left on your HDD?  You may find some useful information here:

emails in my 'trash' are being deleted after about 5 weeks, but I want to retain them. I have selected 'never' on the 'permanently erase deleted messages' option, so I'm not sure why this happening? any ideas?

iCloud emails in the Trash are deleted after 30 days on the website, and this over-rides the 'never' setting in Mail. There is no way of stopping this. (The Trash isn't really intended as a permanent storage area.)
Try this workaround. Go to http://www.icloud.com and go to the Mail page. In the sidebar, click on '+' to the right of 'Folders' to create a new folder; give it a suitable name.
Now click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left. At the bottom of the pane which opens, set the 'Move deleted messages to' drop-down menu to your new folder.
I'm not sure whether, when you delete messages in the Mail application, they will go to the Trash or your new folder - you'll need to experiment. I have a nasty feeling that Mail will simply move them to the Trash as before. If this is the case you will have to move them to your new folder manually - dragging messages directly to this folder rather than hitting the delete key will be the easiest way.

  • Keep getting told that Safari needs to be updated

I keep getting told that Safari needs to be updated.  When I click on 'update' I get sent to the Safari site to be told how wonderful a browser it is.  However there is no link to any download.  I'm running Version 10.6.8 operating system with 5.1.10 version of Safari.  Any ideas please.

You need to either upgrade the computer's OS or switch to a product such as Firefox.
To upgrade, open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

That would be problem number 1.  The device MUST be connected to the Internet to download software updates.
I am guessing you are trying to download an iOS update, common causes for the error you mentions are Anti-Virus or Firewall software on the computer preventing files from downloading.
If this doesn't address your issue, try rewording your issue so that we can better understand the problem you are having.

  • I have downloaded Firefox 5 but I keep getting told that I can't run certain programs (egEvernote Web Clipper) because I am using Firefox 3

I accepted the offer to download Firefox 5 and followed all the instructions. Everything seemed to be ok until I tried to install the Evernote Web Clipper. I was then told that I was running Firefox 3.xxx...
If I have downloaded Firefox 5 how do I make sure I am running 5 and not my earlier version?

    Please do the following.
Click '''Help '''| '''Check For Updates'''. The option to update should appear and version 3.6.17 should download and install.
However, sometimes things go pear-shaped and you get version 3.5.19. If that happens, repeat the same steps to update to 3.6.17.
Once you have 3.6.17 installed, you'll get the opportunity to update to the current version which is 4.0.1 ''Please don't do that for the moment because you first of all have to update your plugins''. To do the latter, please do the following.
Go to http://www.java.com/en/ and install the latest version of Java.
Update Adobe Shockwave for Director via http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
    Update Adobe Flash via http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
    Update Adobe Reader via http://get.adobe.com/reader/?promoid=BUIGO
For security details regarding the Adobe updates, see: http://www.adobe.com/support/security/advisories/apsa11-02.html
Once you've updated all those, go to '''Help '''| '''Check For Updates '''again to update to version 4.0.1

    Hey CarleneS,
First, I would try the steps in here:
How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567
If you end up having to remove and reinstall iTunes, make sure you follow all of the steps in this link:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
This section contains information that might help your situation, as the order and manner which you uninstall has an effect on the outcome:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.

  • My iPad keeps showing a message that I have run out of storage space.  I purchased more iCloud space in settings, but this message is still showing.  It also won't sync when I plug in to my computer...??

My iPad keeps showing a message that I have run out of storage space.  I have purchased more iCloud space in settings, but I am still getting this message.  I also am not able to sync my iPad in iTunes when plugging in to my computer.

The storage space is the iPad storage space, not iCloud storage space. What size Ipad do you have?
How much space is your Other using? You may be able to reduce.
How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.
     Cheers, Tom

  • I need to delete all my pictures off of my iPhone because I have run out of storage.  I have downloaded all pics to my mac but is my entire camera roll backed up on iCloud as well? I just want to make sure before I delete them from the phone.

I need to delete all my photos off my iphone because I have run out of local storage.  I have synced with my Mac but also wanted online backup.  Are all my photos from the camera roll uploaded to iCloud?  I just want to make sure I can retrieve them after I erase from the phone and in case my Mac crashes.

Import photos through iPhoto. (You will prompt to delete from iPhone when import competes).
Backup your Mac. (At least the iPhoto Library)
    Backup to iTunes.
Backup to iCloud. (Check in Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup>Manage Storage>your device name>Camera Roll ON).

  • Download Firefox4 but keep getting told I am only running 3.6. Why

Several times I have downloaded Firefox 4 but I still get a message saying I am only operating on Firefox 3.6. I don't know why this should be4

You only mention downloading Firefox 4, just to confirm, did you run the setup file to install Firefox 4? You can also update to Firefox 4 by using the "Check for updates" option in the Help menu.
If Firefox 4 has been installed, there may be a preference that is overriding the version details.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''general.useragent.override''', right-click on it and choose '''Reset''', then restart Firefox and it should identify itself as Firefox 4

  • Am trying to download 6.0.1 after a crash, i keep getting told that there is no digital signature,so it will not load.

this happened after a crash and every thing frooze on the unit. firefox would not work after startup. deleated it and tried to upload 6.1.was told it had a corrupt file in it. ran checkdisk,it found and corrected a bad fite and now i an told that there is no signature on the down load

And they do offer a compatible version. As I am running running Netflix on my first generation iPad just fine.
You'll need to first "purchase" the non compatible version  either on a newer device that can run it or on a computer running iTunes using the Apple ID that is on the first Gen iPad.
After that is done, you should be able to go into the App Store App, and find Netflix under the Purchased Tab. Tap on it to download it and you should be warned its not compatible, but will be offered the compatible version.

  • TS4268 i keep getting message that cant be set up - check network connection. went to Apple store. they could not set it up and referred me to this article which also doesn't solve problem. Keeps getting network message, even in apple store.  Help!!!!

I keep getting message to check network connection when i try to use face time or imessage. Went to apple store. They could not fix it and referred me to apple support which sent me an article to do the things the store had already tried. Store thinks it is a problem with the ID although the correctID and  p/word are being used. Just get message that cant sign in and check connection and try again. Happens in every location. Can anyone help me with this since Apple  can't?

Since you've tried the Apple Store, etc., even though you say your Apple ID and password are good, I suspect that's the likely issue.
I recommend double checking that with Apple.  This link might help:
