I keep getting Unknown Error (-1) when I hook up my ipod touch to my Mac to upgrade the software. HELP!

I have tried for the last several days to upgrade my ipod touch generation 2, from os 2.2.1 to 4.2 and I keep getting an unknown error (-1)
I have hit restore to original several times and nothing works and the error keeps coming up. I have unplugged all USB products (which is only my mouse) while trying the upgrade and again, nothing works to upgrade the operating system.
I want to install Apps to this ipod and can not without getting the current os system 4.2
HELP!
This is very frustrating as you can all imagine. And from all the websearching I have done, no one else has had this error. Would my canon software have any conflict with the upgrading of this ipod? I have not uninstalled the canon software but would if it would fix the problem. I used to get "no camera attached" when I hooked up the ipod to the machine, and have that now fixed.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have read the "more like this" feed on the right hand side and tried what people have suggested and no luck in upgrading.

Keep getting unknown error 0xE000084 when i try to connet my iphone 4s to itunes

At a loose end now, bought a brand new iphone 4s and when i connect it to the computer it is not being picked up neither is itunes recognising it and I get error message 0xE000084. I have the latest version of itunes...latest version of ios6 and i have installed the drivers for the phone to work on the computer.

I just tried Mirandas advice and it totally worked. I didn't know how to stop the service so I checked that up. Here is the steps:

1 Close iTunes and disconnect the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
2 Click the Windows Start button Start button.
3 In the Start Search field type Services.
4 In the Programs section of the search results, Click "Services".
5 Select Apple Mobile Device and click Stop the service as shown below:
6 After the service has stopped, click Start the service.
7 After the Apple Mobile Device service has started again, open iTunes and connect the device.

Gets unknown error -124 when syncing the iPod

I get unknown error -124 when syncing my 80 gb iPod. I have had files which I could not copy to the iPod, so I removed them. So it's not that. And I have restored it back to its original settings before syncing now.

I had this issue to when trying to burn discs recently. I went into the CD creation settings in iTunes and I "unchecked" the option to "Include CD Text" and after I did that, the disc I had been trying to burn several times with error, actually burned without fail. Give that a try and see what happens.

Using APE-11 on Windows 7- This error is a first for me, after many years of using Premiere. The product is a mix of photos (jpg and png), video clips (mpg-2 and mp4), and audio clips (all mp3). When I try to publish as Standard DVD- MPEG-2. I get the error. Error repeats saving as MP4. Error gives no location on the timeline where it is running into an obstacle to saving, so I do not know where to begin looking to remove repair or replace the item causing the 'unknown error'. The prel runs fine, start to finish, giving no indication that the save may run into a problem on final rendering.
I have tried many different options like rendering the entire timeline prior to saving, converting the clips to all be the same format, with no resolution to the problem.
I have worked many long hours for many weeks on this project, and I am not going to give it up, especially when the majority of the clips were created on APE in the first place, and the images are all Photoshop edited images

Also: Since first report, I have attempted render with all sound clips removed (easiest to to with hundreds of clips/photos), with no help. Same error appears.
I will continue removing aspects of the project until I get a completed save, or until I get an answer here!
After removing the sound and video clips, video saved ok, with blank spots where the missing video clips were. So I reopened the original prel file, and began checking them individually.
When I checked the clip properties, it correctly identified the path to the source video, but when I asked it to 'reveal in project', I got this error
So I assume this is where the SAVE error is happening, but as I am not an Adobe coder, I have no idea what it is telling me.
I did check to insure that the source video from which this clip originates, is in the project assets. I checked all the other clips as well, and any clip from this source video, generates the same error.
The source video runs fine on its own and is an mpeg-2 file.
