I know I have updated Firefox, but several websites I have go on to have said it is outdated. What to do?

I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. My Google homepage says the current version is out of date and two other websites say it is out of date even though I know it has been updated.

Try reading [[Websites say that Firefox is outdated or incompatible even though it's the latest version]].

Cannot see Cookies with new update of firefox.
I recently updated firefox, but when I look on the PRIVACY window, where
websites store cookies, I am no longer able to see any cookies that
are being stored, and I am not able to delete the cookies as soon as I leave
their site, as I had been doing for a long time prior to updating.
So I am wondering where the heck are the cookies being stored now, with the
new update? I like to be able to delete their cookies immediately, and
I also wonder why firefox does not make it much easier for us to see
all the cookies and delete them with one click, instead of having to
use the <<TOOLS<<OPTIONS<<PRIVACY way of looking at and deleting cookies.
so I like to just delete their cookies as soon as I am no longer using their
Current Firefox versions require a Mac with an Intel processor and OS X 10.6.
Firefox 16 is the last version that runs on Intel Mac OS X 10.5.
You would have to update to OS X 10.6 to be able to use current Firefox releases.

I downloaded the updated Firefox, but the ad-on for converting YouTube music videos to mps files is now unavailable. How do I get it back? Why was this feature disabled?
In the former Firefox version there was a box to click for converting YouTube music videos into HQ mp3 files. That box is no longer apparent in the new Firefox version. I went back to Ad-On s and re-downloaded the program YouTube to MP3 1.2. It says it's not compatible with Firefox 6.0. Can I reinstall the older version of Firefox?

When I clicked on the second site mentioned, I got such EXPLICIT, step-by-step directions!!! Thank you so much. I'd been wondering what that window was that kept popping up with the Firefox icon and that other funny thing. The word *install* was never mentioned. Pictographs were never my thing.
When I looked under the initial system requirements, it said that OS X 10.4.5 and higher were good for 5.0. I didn't check further. Under your advice, I'll go with the older version. Thank you for taking the time to help me.

Hello, terrygav.
I would recommend processing a reinstall of Mavericks.

Make sure to backup all of your data prior to reinstalling OS X 10.9.

• I keep being told I must update Firefox, but all I get is a window which says connecting, and a blue thing moving across, which doesn't go away. What should I do ?

I keep getting a request to update Firefox, but when I click on it I get a window, which says it's "connecting" with a blue line moving across a box, but it seems to go no further, even after 30 minutes. What should I do ?

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version.
* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

• I clicked where it said to install an updated Firefox, but it is sitting on my Mac's desktop--I don't know how to install it. Also, it said that it was 5.0 (from Yahoo site), not the 3.6 that they talk about here.

[This is the second time I have typed this out. I don't understand where these things disappear to. Anyway . . .]
Originally, some months ago, I was at my Yahoo e-mail site, and a notice came up suggesting that I update my Firefox. I clicked for them to go ahead and start the process. It didn't install anything, but this *thing* appeared on my (Mac) desktop that said *yahoo_firefox_3.6.8_setup_is.dmg*. I continued to get noticed to upgrade, and I thought by clicking on that button did that.
Tonight, I decided to try again. This time, the same thing happened. It downloaded on my desktop, but didn't install. Now I have two files sitting on my (Mac) desktop. The original that says 3.6.8 and the new one which says the same thing except that it is a 5.0 version. I have a Mac OS X 10.4.11 system.
My questions: How do I install Firefox from my desktop with the file thingy they sent me? and (2) What version do I use?

When I clicked on the second site mentioned, I got such EXPLICIT, step-by-step directions!!! Thank you so much. I'd been wondering what that window was that kept popping up with the Firefox icon and that other funny thing. The word *install* was never mentioned. Pictographs were never my thing.

• Have updated firefox but am being told firefox is out of date

have updated to the latest version of firefox but am being told my firefox is out of date

Is your homepage set as http://www.google.com/firefox/ ?
This used to be the old default homepage with Firefox 3.6.* and earlier that was hosted by Google. As of Firefox 4.0 the new default homepage if selected is '''about:home''' (it looks similar but without the olde version message).
Tools->Options->General->Homepage: Where you can change it to another site or '''about:home''' or keep blank.

• I updated Firefox, but the old version is still running and the new version doesn't have my bookmarks?

And I read that I have to "trash" my old version of Firefox, but when I look in my "programs" to uninstall, it is not there. Really tired of incomplete and vague instructions. I am not a computer nerd and do not know what to do unless specifically told step by step. Thank you

Check the programs that are on your computer
'''Windows:''' Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs.
'''Mac:''' Open the "Applications" folder.
'''Linux:''' Check your user manual.
• Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
If the above did not help, do this;
Open the Task Manager. Look for the old Firefox program under
'''Processes.''' When you find it, right click and select '''Open File Location.'''
Once the file browser comes up, copy the address bar and post it here.
Now do the same with the new Firefox. Don't do anything yet, just in case.

• A message on the screen said I need to update Firefox but I checked and it is current

When I opened Firefox (the homepage is www.google.com) there was a message saying I needed to update Firefox, and after a couple times, I checked and Firefox is current, it doesn't have an update. My computer OS is Mac 10.5.8. I also have concerns the computer has recently been tampered with thru the internet. I'm computer illiterate.

''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.''
