I installed the new version of Ovi Suite and got the MTP error again.
The last time it took me days to fix and I can't remember what worked.
Does anyone have a set of instructions, I am on Windows 7 with a 5800XM.

I have been a loyal Nokia customer for years, I think my first was a 8100(?) back in 1999, but I can't wait for my contract to expire so I can get a phone by a company that doesn't test my loyalty everytime new firmware or software is released.
I could live with the problems if Nokia responded with answers to questions raised, but that never happens.

Safari wont open - not a new topic but offered fixes dont fix

like an earlier post on the exact same subject, i tried to launch safari, got the window (empty) and then safari just closes down.
i get a report to apple option with an impenetrable message which i send.
it's been a couple of months now and i've pretty much given up on it, using firefox instead.
any wisdom? sorry this is a repeated topic but i prefer safari to firefox.

You don't say what you have tried, but try this:
Firstly:
Repairing permissions is an important part of regular maintenance, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two.

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.
Secondly:
Download and re-install the correct COMBO 10.4.11 Updater, followed by a restart.
Thirdly:
Download and re-install the Safari 3.1.1 updater, followed by a restart, but bear the following in mind:
If your Safari keeps crashing, or if you are updating Safari (or just have):
Input Managers and other plug-ins from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If you have installed 10.4.11 and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari. Remember: Tiger up to 10.4.10 used Safari 2.0.4 or, if you downloaded it, Safari 3.0.3 beta. Safari 10.4.11 used Safari 3.0.4 which was not a beta, and now Safari 3.1.1. If Safari 3.1.1 on 10.4.11 is not the fastest browser you have ever used, then something is wrong!
(Trying to revert to Safari 2 when running 10.4.11 can have repercussions, as Safari 3.x use a completely different webkit on which other applications like iChat, Mail, Dashboard Widgets etc also rely.)
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party ad-on. Add-on that have been frequently mentioned here, among others, for causing such problems are Piclens, Saft, AcidSearch and Pithhelmet. If you have them, trash them and go the developer's sites to see if new versions are available for Safari 3.1.
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11, that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Updates up to 2008-003. Like all security updates, these require a restart and a permission repair.
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
• /Library/InputManagers
• ~/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates (they can always be added back one-by-one later).

Not a new topic but...I cannot connect to Itunes store

Seems like the same old song and dance. I downloaded the latest Itunes version and ever since my itunes not only opens slowly, but I cannot access the Itunes store.
My firewall allows Itunes, I have flushed, added certificates, checked settings..you name it, I've tried it. What used to take seconds for my computer to open Itunes, it take several minutes. Any other suggestions would be grand.

Windows platform, cannot use several of Suite programs now as they are coming up as trial versions since I started using Cloud..sure this is not a new topic, but not much Adobe support. Appreciative of help.

CS 6 Design and Web premium individual programs (not in use for some time) are now launching as trial versions since the advent of Adobe Cloud. Windows platform. I am sure I am one of about a million people with this issue, but having trouble getting specific suppport, no telephone numbers and installing this suite of programs was a nightmare....appreciative of any help today!

It is not a CS6 issue; it is not a specific software issue, none of the links address this situation which is an ADOBE issue...created by the Adobe Cloud process, not by me.
The "serial number is not valid" link I have already explored and their wonderful solutions do not apply and their suggestion to reinstall my software is the ABSOLUTELY LAST THING THE WORLD I will ever do after my initial experience with the original post-antipiracy measures installation. I understand antipiracy actions, but Adobe's response is out of control and not working for those of us who have honestly purchased the software. I did not create this issue, Adobe did. They should provide a telephone number with a live body to fix this issue for those of us affected. BTW I have been trying to resolve this on my own for one week before I even posted in this forum. WebAssist Cart help? I know it's off topic but... Could really use some help...

I've got a shopping cart that is working and I'm trying to update the
quantities in inventory by subtracting the quantity ordered from the total
inventory in a table called ITEMS.
I can update a record after a sale in the cart, but right now it is
updating by completely replacing the value of the items in inventory with
the quantity in the checkout cart. So, if there are 800 items, after the
update, there are -1 total in inventory, not 799.
The problem is that I don't know how to coordinate the item(s) in the stored
shopping cart with a call to their ID and quantity in the online database.

Which version of operating system are you running? Please go to Apple in menu bar, click on 'about this Mac" and click on the numbers under the big Mac OS X until you see "version 10.x.x" - copy what it says and post it here please.

Everytime I hook up my ipod, it syncs not only new music, but only a select few of my older, already synced music

When I connect my ipod to my computer, Itunes automatically launches like I set it up to do. Then, any new music that I've put onto my computer, syncs with my ipod. This is all fine. However, I notice that some of my music seems to sync EVERY TIME I connect. It's the same cds that do it over and over again. My ipod doesn't have duplicate copies as a result, and I dont' see anything duplicating in my library on the computer. So it's not really a problem, but more of a WTH is going on thing. Any suggestions ?

Old snoopy printout? (not a mac topic, but someone might know...)

A long long time ago, when my late dad was a computer programmer, he once came home with a computer printout of Snoopy, possibly sitting atop his doghouse. This would have been in the 70's or maybe early 80's? So it was a really big deal at the time. Anyone else have a dad do that for them when they were kids? I'm trying to find that image on the 'net, and am not having luck. I've tried Google searches like "Snoopy Dot Matrix", "Snoopy computer 1970"; and others, and nothing's coming up. I'm sure someone's scanned it in at some point, it's just a matter of finding it.

He might have run that program himself if it was a fairly large sheet or two of fanfold paper.
Way back when I learned programming in the days of keypunch cards we did stuff like that on IBM mainframes. It took a couple of hundred cards to make such an image if it's what I think you are talking about. This was way before the internet so you couldn't just trade your programs unless you shipped off a bunch of cards to the person looking for the program.
It's possible that some of this was in some magazine but all the one's I remember doing were all coded by me or friends.
We coded the cards to print a character at a specified position on the page and once all laid out you had art!

Despite inability to sign in, I have access to all settings and address book.
I've "repaired" the inbox folder and checked the firewall settings. Connection to POP server is fast. Downloads for the last week or so (prior to upgrade) have been VERY slow...
Likely the solution is "simple", but I'm very much NOT a "software tech" kinda guy.... If you can help, please use small words ; )

PS CS6 will not open new files, but will re-open old ones

For no apparent reason, and all of a sudden, PS CS6 on this PC will not open any previously unopened psd files. It will open them if I've opened them before. Running win7, have all the latest drivers, versions, etc, including the latest video drivers. Same files will open on my laptop with CS6 no problem. Also files open in CS5 no problem. I did the ctrl+shift+alt deal to reset PS, no help. Any ideas other than reinstall the suite? Is there a way to just reinstall PS?

Atv2 keeps dropping the connection to i tunes. I get a message telling me to open home sharing even though i have done so and i tunes is open on my iMac. This is not a new problem but it has gotten worse progressively

ooops.starting again. The connection to i tunes via apple tv keeps dropping after a very short period of time. T get a message telling me to turn on home sharing when its is turned and and i tunes is open on my mac. I just updated from Snow Leopard to Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74) but as the problem was happening before this i feel thats not significant. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks for the reply and the analogy, one can overlook the fact that it could be something other than the device that is the cause of the problem and i realise that, however frustration can creep in and cause one to overlook obvious things. I have spoken to my ISP and we have examined a number things, firstly my download speed on wireless which is a healthy 16mbps. Next the channels being used around me, which were numbers one, six and eleven, and we changed my channel to three. It would appear that those using eleven are mobile users with no fixed landline. I do not have any electrical devices anywhere near the ATV except for the TV itself, a DVD recorder and a PC computer only rrecently set up there and after the problems started anyway. I have removed the PC entirely from the room and it has no effect on the situation with the ATV. In the same room but some distance from the ATV, a lamp and the telephone base station, which has to be close to the socket which is in the same room as the TV and the ATV of course. The problem continues. I have actually tried connecting ATV by ethernet to the router, and last night that worked, today however it refuses to do anything at all.
At this moment in time i have the computer connected via ethernet cable, though it connects by wireless perfectly. I have the ATV connected vis ethernet, and it fails to connect to iTunes at all.
Overall i have stripped the thing down to its basics and started from scratch again more than once. I am not particularly clever, nor am i stupid. For me all i really want is to be able to plug this stuff in and have it do what it says on the tin. So far i have spent a great deal of time trying to figure out what is wrong with ATV, a device that cost £99 plus a few months ago, purchased 17th March this year, and i, like everyone else i suspect, have better things to do with my time. If you have any advice, help or suggestions i would be most grateful. Please do not think that my tone is in any way a criticism of you personally, its just a very frustrating experience.

Help! Had a computer crash. Got a new computer. Want to download all my iTunes purchases from the iTunes Store. Should be simple...right? How do I do it?

I'm afraid to say the official policy on music/media purchases is that you only get one download and it's up to you to maintain a backup against loss: iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
The licensing of Purchased applications allows for them be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store
If you have an iPod that still has any of your purchases on it you'll find details in this article on how to transfer them to the computer: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
Failing this, you could try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so.
