I like my iTouch !

I wanted to say I really like my iTouch. I have never had an ipod. I must have purchased at least 6 ipods as gifts for my family. But never one for myself. When I got it for my birthday, I thought to myself that is was an expensive toy that I did not need. I was thinking that I would get an iPhone when it worked with my service provider. Of course that could be a few years. Nevertheless, I started to set it up and I play with it and I am impressed with it. I have lots of questions each day about how to use it and that is frustrating. Not having really used iTunes or had any kind of iPod in the past, I have a lot to learn. I started on the 60 page manual and stopped after the first 15 pages....I watched the online apple promotional video and learned more from that. I read through a few threads here and do understand that there are problems experienced users are having that need to be addressed by Apple.
But it is so cool !!!! Just do not forget the joys of your first iPod.

manuel? you got a manuel? hmm got mine from bestbuy and there was no manuel...i was looking for it but recieved none O.o hmmm best buy getting a call tomorrow!
Thats good you are liking it. I'm quite fond of mine also. Neat to play with

  • HT201471 Does anyone know if video comes out of the headphone jack like the Itouch does on a Ipad3?

I was wondering if the video out put comes out of the headphone jack on a Ipad3 like it does on a Itouch?

No. Video will need to be shared via Home Sharing, Airplay or using an AV adapter.

  • When I try to reinstall an app that was on my iTouch, Itunes tells me the app can't be found. When I try and redownload it itunes says it's already downloaded and will not let me try again.

This is an itouch gen 4. I'm open to for answers. Thanks!

    Hello,
I checked the restrictions setting and that is off.
The wording that comes up is:
Some of the apps in your iTunes library were not installed on the iPod 'Leon's iPod" because one or more errors occurred.
For a list of apps that could not be installed. click the + below.
The app "YouTube" was not installed on the iPod "Leon'siPod" because the app could not be found.
Thats it, all be you can say 'ok' or More information' which opens a window with some things to try, like update iTouch software, reset iTouch, chech with vendor.

  • Can I manage more than one iTouch from one PC?

A family member has an iTouch managed with iTunes on PC. Another family member would like an iTouch but does not have a computer.
Can one manage more than one iTouch from one PC? How? Does one install separate instances of iTunes somehow on the PC for each device?
There is also the desire to have separate Apple Store accounts for each device. We don't what synced devices.

*How to use multiple iPods with one computer*
The Apple support document How to use multiple iPods with one computer suggests a number of ways. I use method two (Sync with selected playlists) with a slight twist. Rather than regular playlists I set the grouping field to indicate which users should receive which tracks and create smart playlists based on the content of this field.
    e.g.
"Alice's Tracks" is "Grouping contains Alice" + "Kind contains audio"
"Bob's Videos" is "Grouping contains Bob" + "Kind does not contain audio"
Tracks that both Alice & Bob want on their iPods have the grouping set to "Alice/Bob"
    etc.
I currently manage our family's five iPods using this system, each getting a different selection to suit their tastes and the capacity of their iPod. An advantage of using the grouping field is that it is stored in file tags (for non-wav audio files anyway) so that it is relatively easy to recreate the playlists should the iTunes library get trashed. Also useful if you move files about manually as playlist membership is preserved when you delete & re-import the tracks.

  • Itouch - USB device not recognized and Itouch now no longer works

I'm now on my 3rd Itouch since December all due to the same problem. All seemed to be going well with my 3rd replacement Itouch. Having loaded most of my cd collection into ITunes the night before I was going on holiday I synced my Itouch. Some sort of automatic download took place I think from Microsoft and suggested my drivers were being updated. Next thing I got message to restore my Itouch to factory settings. I did this and all the problems I had with my previou Itouch's started again.
When I now plug my Itouch into my laptop it says "USB device not recognized" and the Itouch will not switch on. I've done everything including reinstalling Itunes, holding down the power and home key but to no avail. Looks like I'm going to have to send my Itouch back again. I have a suspicion that a Microsoft download is corrupting the drivers. If anyone can help I would be very grateful. I really like my Itouch but the fact it keeps failing leads me to wonder if I should opt for something else.

I had success with the holding down the keys and connecting to usb and using itunes to restore firmware like they show here

  • So i have an iphone4 but i have sprint, is there a way i could just use it as an itouch ?

i dont even have a sim card for it is there a way i could get a sim card just so i can use the phone and its apps like an itouch ???

If the device is activated, you do not need a SIM card.  The only time you would need a SIM card is if you ever need to restore the device.
The SIM card does not need to be activated, it simply must be a valid SIM from the supported carrier.  In other words, a deactivated AT&T SIM card would work in an AT&T iPhone.
Or you could just sell it and buy an iPod Touch... you might even make some cash this way.

  • Using iPhone as an iTouch??

When my AT&T contract expires (June 2009) can I just use my iPhone like an iTouch? I have another cell phone so I would like to use the iPhone just as a WiFi internet surfer, etc.
    Will that be possible?
    Bob

Unless you cancel your contract, the standard ATT contract goes to a month to month contract. An iPhone without service can be used as a wifi device and iPod. Applying updates will disable all features of the phone until it is reactivated.

  • Can I use my iPhone 3G as an iTouch?

It's time to replace my 3G with a 5, and I'm wondering what I will be able to do with the old device.  Once I cancel my ATT contract (I'm going to switch to Verizon) will it function just like an iTouch?  Will all its other functions and non-phone apps remain working?  Will I still be able to use wi-fi for web browsing and email?

    Yes

  • Will phone work as an Itouch without the plans?

    Hello all,
This is my first post on the forum here. I have a Iphone 3G and am upgrading to the Iphone 4.
When my new phone arrives, will my old phone still work just the games and such that I have installed on it without a data or phone plan on it?
    Basically work like an Itouch?
I want to give the 3G to my daughter just for the games loaded on it....
    Thanks much
    Kathy

Hey puddinhd58 & welcome to the forums.
Your old phone will work as an iPod Touch (essentially) once the cell phone service has been deactivated. Keep the sim card installed as you will need to have it in place if you have to restore your phone.

  • I'm thinking about getting an itouch but i have questions about Wi-Fi.

+i like the itouch and i think i wanna get it but i don't have much experience with Wi-Fi so i want to know some things before i buy it. where can i find Wi-Fi? Is it only in certain locations? Will i have to do something to access it? How often do you have Wi-Fi? Is it a once in a while thing or can you find it on a more continuous basis?+

Do a google search and read up on wi-fi.

  • Problems with iTouch after the most recent upgrade

I have been having issues like my iTouch running slower, all my apps open up and then close or if they open up will work for about a minute and then freeze, or some of my wifi apps will say there is not connection to the internet. I have wireless internet at my home and it is on all the time. I am so mad I updated my iTouch. Any one know of a fix to these issues?

I too upgraded my 16GB iPod Touch with IOS 4.0 and have noticed slower response times and Apps crashing back to the main screen. Looking at other postings on this site, the general consensus is that we should not upgrade until Apple resolve the issue. However, this does not help those of us that have already upgraded!
I was considering using the iTunes option of restoring a previous IOS version. So, can anyone else help our friend and confirm whether a IOS downgrade or other solution is advisable?
    Cheers...
P.S. I upgraded my iPhone 3GS and have had no visible issues with IOS 4.0

  • What to do with the old iPhone?

My wife is getting the new phone next week and I had planned on keeping my 3G. Since both phone numbers are eligible for an upgrade I'm thinking of getting one too but not sure what to do with the old one. I guess it could be used as a WiFi-only gadget like an iTouch. Is there any market for these used phones? It looks like some are sold on eBay for $100-$200.

If you do a quick Google search, you will find a ton of web sites willing to assist you in selling your phone. Some people choose to get cash for their iPhone via this site: http://bit.ly/bkcHPV

  • IOS 5 problems on iPhone 4

ok so apperently like everyone's having problems with their iphones upgraded to iOS 5 right?
    umm my problem's kinda different...
i bought the iphone (+sim card) in october last year in singapore.
then i moved to korea in december and tried to get a new sim card (number) so i could keep using my iphone as my phone
but the person at the handphone shop (or wev its called) said that its gonna be complicated so i just bought a new phone in korea
and i've been using my iphone 4 without a sim card, just like an itouch.
it's been fine downloading the new iOSes till now but as u all know, this new upgrade's different.
and since this one requires a sim card to activate the iphone.... uhh.. yea i kinda don't have one.
i'm going somewhere with my friends tomorrow and i was gonna take pictures and videos on my iphone.
but now i can't do that because i can't set up my iphone and get it to work!!
    pls pls help me

What do you want us to do, mail you a Sim card?
You know what you need. There is no workaround to needing a SIM in the phone to activate it when you update. It doesn't necessarily have to be a "live" SIM, I don't believe.
If your phone was not factory unlocked, but was 'hacked', you will need a SIM from the carrier it was originally locked to as the update will re-lock it.

  • Use Original iPhone as iPod Touch

Help. I want to use my original iPhone as an iPod Touch. Every time I connect to iTunes it sends me to the AT&T activation page. I have attempted to use the original SIM and obtained a new one from AT&T. These options have not solved my issue.
I havecontacted Apple Support on two separate occasions. They told me to get a new SIM from AT&T if my original SIM would not work. I have tried two different SIM cards and neither solved the issue. I called support a second time and they told me there was nothing they could do about it and to contact AT&T (yeah right) for a solution. I am disgusted with Apple for the first time in 10 years.

I never messed with my sim card/never opened it up.
After buying my new 100% ooma service I cancled at&t and now get no service and even after a restore it says WAITING FOR ACTIVATION then I slide the unlock and now I can use it just fine.
Perhaps you jail broke yours? I never did and I have no more phone service and my phone acts just like an itouch just fine. If you still have your original sim I'd ask the apples store people to put the original one back in and stop messing with the innards of the iphone as youre not supposed to opening it up at all.
I also suspect your wifi at home is password protected?
remove the password so the iphone can autoconnect and activate then aftewards you can turn back on the wifi router password.

  • A question about external microphone called "thumbtacks"

I recently bought one of those small microphone the size of a pin called thumbtacks, is great small and easily comfortable. Those microphones feels like the Itouch has an built-in microphone on it, I tested it on several recording apps works great. I even tried it on shazam and it works like a charm, but I didn't get much luck was on the VoIP apps like skype among others.... I don't know if I was the cause of it not working or because I mistakenly thought it will work on VoIP apps. Everytime that I try using the skype app there appears like an iPhone calls features like mute, speaker, among others button on the screen while on a voip call. I tried pressing the speaker icon but nothing I couldn't hear the other person speaking, they could only hear me. Am I doing something wrong or I might need to return the item?
Thanks to all, and any help I would appreciated it.

    John--
    **gentle chiding tone in voice**
Come on--you've been here long enough to know that Christmas weekend means questions aren't always answered in a few hours.
    **more serious tone**
I don't have a thumbtack mic; I'd like one. But my understanding is that they are designed for recording, not VoIP. They don't look like they're engineered for VoIP; you might have better luck with earphones with mic combo.
Blessings to you in the New Year--I'm looking forward to seeing more of your posts!
