- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you are running 64-bit Windows and the above steps haven't helped try installing the version of iTunes that can be downloaded from this support document. iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
If you still have no luck try reinstalling iTunes 12.0, links in the user tip.

Why Is An Additional Download Necessary To Play Windows Video On The Beta?

It is also a bit confusing why Netscape and Opera will play Quicktime without any need to download additional software, but on my first attempt to play a Windows video from the Beta, my browser froze, and I was directed to make an additional download. I am alone in this problem?
If not, is there no way to have this part of the initial browser download?

IIRC some ONT's wont go faster than 25/25, if you have one of them, you are going to need a new ONT to get 35/35 service. That would require a service visit, and access to the premises.

Can't play Foxnews videos. Trying to use latest Firefox, Flash and Javascript is enabled. Ad plays but video hangs. Anyone else having this issue?

Have tried both Mozilla 12 and 16, have reloaded Flash several times, have enabled Javascript. Ad seems to play but video does not, only seems to occur with Foxnews.

You can check the Flash status [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html here]. If you have any external Windows ad blocking applications, or if you're using a proxy you can try to adjust the settings.

I know there are Apple vs YouTube issues, but the same thing happens when I try to play video ads from the Apple site.
The computer is 4 yrs old- this problem started a couple of months ago. No major changes, just updated as available.
Any suggestions....?

I don't have any Safari extensions that I know of. I didn't install any anti-virus.
This is on the error message when it comes up. I went to the WebProcess application in Time Machine and tried to restore it to one year ago, but it didn't fix the problem. As I recall, this began about the time Apple and YouTube parted ways- whether that is coincidence or not...

hey guys,
i am a mac noob. anyways, i have a few .wmv files that i really want to play on my new macbook, but quicktime wont play them. I am sure there is a way to make it work because i was able to play them on the demo macbook in my local apple-store.
Are there plug-ins or something to enable my mac to play these windows files?

About the only people currently supporting Windows Media in a QT compatible component is Flip4Mac. Player component download is free. Conversion codecs are not.

Ipad will no longer play any videos on any site. Switch to photon and it plays. These are not flash vids!

On safari I have a long list of blogs of news that I have viewed daily for years. About to weeks ago. These apparent you tube embeds now say this video cannot be viewed. Since these sites haven't changed all at once I downloaded photon and they all play. Yes I know photon has a flash player but I don't have to activate it it just plays. Further if I track to you tube with the YouTube app the same video will play. All of these sites could not have switched to flash at the same time. Any ideas?

Where are watching these videos? Through Safari, or on the You Tube app that was pre-installed on your iPad from day one? If the later and you all of the sudden can't watch previously viewable video, I'd recommend you reboot your iPad. Press and hold the power buttons at the same time for at least 10 seconds (keep holding past the swipe to shut down bar) until the Apple logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart.
If you could view these through You Tube via Safari, go into settings > safari > clear cookes > clear cache
Then try again........

Found the answer on my own; restart apple TV and menus no longer appear over videos and while playing music. However, viewing streaming video on airplay is not ideal. Sometimes the image freezes on the TV while it continues on my macbook. Also, sometimes the sound comes from the tv speakers; other times it comes only from the computer. Never know what will happen when I watch a streaming video.
