I.link cable

Hello,
I have a JVC GR-D770U digital video camera.  I want to download my mini-film to my laptop.  It requires for the camera a IEEE-1394 firewall cable which I bought.  Now I need a pcmcia card slot or express card slot.    Can I get one of these for my HP Pavillion Entertainment PC?  Where would I put it?  How does this work?
Thanks,
Liz

Or both. The newer the laptop the less likely it can support any way to have a firewire interface. Does the camera use internal memory cards? You can always store video on the cards and remove them and then work with them on the laptop with a usb card reader.

  • No display when connect DVI-D dual link cable

    Hi
I am using MS-6398 motherboard and I have the latest Bios 5.60.  when I connect DVI-D dual link cable from ATI All-In-Wonder 8500DV graphic card to my SONY SDM-M81 Flat Panel.  There is no display at all during POST as well as after boot up. It has display only if I connect with regular analog VGA cable.  I have contacted the ATI tech support and they ask me to contact the manufacturer of my motherboard because it don't have display during POST which is nothing to do with driver.
    thanks,
    Siong

DVI-D port on the Ultradock is single link only.
If you need DVI-D at dual link resolution (i.e. 2560x1600), you need an active displayport to dual link converter. Startech makes them, they should be around 80 USD or something of that region.

  • Monster iTV Link Cable

    hey there all,
just been reading some posts & thought i'd pass this along. i've been using a Monster Cable to connect my MacBook to my Olevia 26" 16:9 LCD HD monitor/TV. it's the iTV Link cable for the old 12" PowerBook, which also had video out over a mini-DVI connector. the cable is 10 feet long, has a mini-DVI + 1/8" stereo plug on the Mac end & an S-Video + 2 RCA plugs on the TV end. i've set my MacBook for extended desktop & use the external monitor w/ Final Cut Express to display the Canvas. i know it's not the greatest for "real serious work" but to be able to be in bed & work on a project from an external FW hard drive as opposed to going downstairs & firing up the "Big Mac" it's pretty cool, also for watching a DVD on the bigger screen. & once i set the extended desktop it's easier to work in FCE as opposed to sending signal over firewire to my cam/deck then to a TV, because the MacBook sees the TV as 2nd computer display(it shows the desktop wallpaper). the TV is set as follows: resolution 1024 x 768 @ 60 Hz(NTSC), millions of colors. the TV is also set @ fullscreen from it's menu. the MacBook is set @ max native resolution 1280 x 800, millions of colors.
i got 2 cables from CompUSA($15.00/ea.) less than 1/2 the original list price. probably because there are no more 12" P'Books & they think they have no market for them & want to get 'em out of inventory. iTV Link cable might also work for MacBook presentations using a Projector.
    hope this helps someone.

  • Need the AD Link cable for SB X-Fi and other models. Anyone have an unneeded one?

Need the AD Link cable for SB X-Fi and other models. Creative is out of stock & discontinued. Anyone have an unneeded one? TIA.

This will do it perfectly. http://www.cableyourworld.com/prodde...?prod=CYW-1755
I once swapped such a cable with the one supplied by Creative because I needed a few extra inches of length. Therefore my recommendation is no gamble, it is a certainty. The only reason I would anticipate failure is if the PIN 1 matching is not performed on both the sound card and I/O bay. I have also seen people turn the cable upside down as well.

  • No digital audio out with mini TOS Link cable.

In the past I've been able to play audio through my Onkyo receiver and speakers using a mini TOS Link cable. However, today when i plugged the cable in no audio is being sent.
    Things I've discovered:
    1) Audio works for other devices plugged into the same input on the receiver.
    2) The audio plays on the internal Macbook speakers. When I plug in the TOS Link cable during playback it just goes silent.
    3) In the Sound control panel, the output does change to Digital Out. (so the Macbook recognizes the cable)
    4) The red light comes out of the end of the cable that plugs into the receiver.
    5) The receiver normally makes a click sound and switches to a proper sound mode when it detects a digital signal. It does not do when I plug in the TOS Link cable.
I have rebooted, reset the pram, repaired permissions.

I am having this same problem, any ideas? Troubleshooted the cord, the mini adapter, the reciever, no dice. It has to be something with software, I had a hard drive crash and it worked before, but not now.

  • Ad-link cable for Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic and Sound Blaster X-Fi I/O Consol

I have both, new pc came with sound card and bought console over ebay which came without cable to connect the two. Can anyone help to locate the missing ad link cable? Have spoken to Creative tech support and they say they don't stock any. Maybe someone has one lying around?!?! Have an audigy zs platinum pro fully funtional with hub to swap or sell.
    thanks,
    Ilka

On the control pod for the speakers, just press the input button until it reads "Direct" on the display. then the same goes for the effect button, press it until the effect is "Direct" from there you can run the Creative diagnostics and do the speaker test so you can make sure you have them pluged in correctly. then mess with the effects however you like

  • Z3 600 Aspire Link Cable what is it for

    musicpuppet,
Are you referring to the HDMI cable that comes with the system? If you are, it is for the HDMI-In connection on the unit if you want to connect an external to it and use it like a monitor.

    Thanks for the response.
I'm familiar with the typical Textedit use but it seems strange that someone would have inserted code for a menu item that doesn't do anything.
In TextEdit, and I assume applications using the same core technology, the feature of links shows up clearly in the same format. The Safari/Camino use of the term shows up in a different place so I assume someone had to be intentional about including it?
    Thanks.

  • DUAL LINK CABLE with 30 INCH SCREEN / MACBOOK 2008

Getting constant flicker on the black areas of the monitor
why release a $100 cable and not work?
why release a new monitor connection and not be ready with a working cable?
    what do I do?
There is a fix for 15 inch macbook pro, i hear with the energy settings but the same settings are not present in the 13 inch macbooks
This is annoying, I cant work with constant flicker in the dark black areas of the monitor.

I recommend you return and get another one , the more people do this, the more they will realize there is a major problem
    returns costs Apple $$$.
I returned and repurchased on a new receipt so I have another 14 days to test this
I will not keep it until Im sure it works 100%.
Consider it a 14 day constant trial while they hold my $108.

  • I have an iphone 4s and when i originally bought it before any updates, i was able to play videos on my jensen vm9312hd car stereo with the iphone link cable. Since the first update i havent been able to play videoes. Any ideas?

The first update that removed the youtube icon also stopped my ability to watch videoes from my phone on my jensen vm9312hd car stereo. Is there a way to fix tgis?

Maybe someone played around with your volume limit, try Settings>Music and then volume limit if not reboot your iPhone (hold sleep/wake and home button for about 10 seconds should start up again it self if nit then switch it on normally) and if that doesn't work then reset your settings.

  • I.link HD cable insufficient?

Testing Sony HVR Z7U HD camera and realized that the i.Link cable to transfer to FCP7 isn't the size that my current firewire is on my iMac. I'm hoping there's an appropriate cable that I can pick up somewhere (Radio Shack, etc?) as I have to shoot Monday.

If your iMac is a recent one it will have firewire 800, whereas your cable is for firewire 400.  You need a firewire 400 to 800 converter.  Apple's online store have one: http://store.apple.com/uk/product/H7135ZM/A/firewire-800-to-firewire-400-cable?f node=MTY1NDA3Ng&s=topSellers

  • Mini DisplayPort to DVI-D Dual Cable/Adapter for mid-2010 iMac?

    Hi . . .
Sorry to pester with a question that's been covered from various angles before, but I'm new to the Mac world. Am a musician in BC, Canada doing a project remotely with people in Ontario. Decided to ditch my PC-based recording rig and went with a 2010 iMac and Logic Pro X (hallelujah!) because the other people are using Logic Pro X. So . . . I'm just learning the ropes.
Anyway . . . I have a spare monitor I want to run in dual setup extended desktop, and I'm not 100% certain of the cable and/or adapter I'll need. I'm also not sure why the adapters are bigger and seem to contain more internal components, whereas the cables just look like a simple "Plug 1" connected to "Plug 2" cable in a variety of lengths (in the same way you'd have a XLR to 1/4" phono cable).
Here's the info on my system, and any help would be greatly appreciated (will a cable suffice or do I need an separate adapter, DVI type, etc).
My iMac (mid-2010 21" Core i3 with Firewire running Moutain Lion 10.8.5):
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-i3-3.06-21-inch-alumi num-mid-2010-specs.html
My monitor I want use as an extended desktop (Acer 22" X223W LCD):
    http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/acer-x223w-lcd-monitor/4507-3174_7-32627876 .html
So, it appears I'll need a male Mini DisplayPort to a male DVI-D Dual adapter and/or cable. Do I need to specifically buy a DVI-D Dual cable? Will a simple cable function properly or do I also need an adapter? I'm pretty sure a DVI-I cable won't work because it would have extra pins that aren't present in the DVI-D.
Thanks again . . . the assistance is appreciated.
    Suds . . .

    You are overthinking this.
"DVI dual link support" is concerned about the resolution of the display, not the number of displays.   A dual-link adapter or cable basically has double the number of wires to carry extra data to support higher resolutions than a single-link cable.  Of course, both the computer and the external display must also support the higher resolutions in order to take advantage of the capabilities of dual-link.
You want to use two displays ... your iMac's buit-in display + your Acer display as a second monitor (what you called "dual monitors").  You can do this, as I explained earlier.
Your Acer monitor's maxiumum resolution of 1680 x 1050 is not high enough to require a dual-link connection.
"In single-link mode, the maximum pixel clock frequency is 165 MHz that supports a maximum resolution of 2.75 megapixels (including blanking interval) at 60 Hz refresh. For practical purposes, this allows a maximum 16:9 screen resolution of 1920 × 1080 at 60 Hz (1915 × 1436 at a 4:3 ratio).
To support higher-resolution display devices, the DVI specification contains a provision for dual link. Dual-link DVI doubles the number of TMDS pairs, effectively doubling the video bandwidth. As a result, higher resolutions up to 2560 × 1600 are supported at 60 Hz [via dual-link DVI]."   (See Digital Visual Interface, Wikipedia)
You can connect almost any VGA, DVI or HDMI display to your iMac, using the appropriate cable and/or adapter.  Of course, you always have to make sure that your cable has the correct gender plug on each end.   The Apple adapter I recommended has a female connector, so you will need a cable with a male DVI-D plug on one end.  As for the other end of the cable, check the input on your Acer display to see what it has and select a cable that has an appropriate gender connector on the end that will plug into your Acer monitor.
In extended desktop mode, you can set separate (independent) resolutions for your iMac display and your external Acer display, taking advantage of the maximum resolution of each.   (For example, that's why the MacBookPro example you cited works, it's because that model MacBook Pro can support higher resolutions on an external display than it's built-in LCD panel can.)

  • MBP to an a/v receiver via dvi to hdmi cable, display not detected?

So as the title says, I'm trying to connect my MBP to a Sony str-dg510 a/v receiver in this order:
    MBP >
Mini Displayport to dvi connector (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB570Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ&mco=MTA4ODk2OTE ) >
    dvi to hdmi cable (http://www.amazon.com/DVI-HDMI-Cable-6ft-Male-Male/dp/B0002CZHN6 ) >
    Sony STR-dg510 AV Receiver >
    Analog TV.
And here's the issue: I'm not getting a second display detected at all. It is an analog connection from the AV receiver to the TV, and I've connected other laptops to the receiver just fine, albeit on a different input.
So I'm not sure where to go from here, the mini displayport to dvi works fine onto an apple display at work.
I also got an unlock message on the receiver at first and thought this may be the issue, so I got an optical audio cable similar to this: (http://www.ramelectronics.net/audio-video/audio-cables/digital-audio-optical-tos link-cable/poft3ps/prodPOFT3PS.html )
And now the sound plays fine, but still no picture (and the unlock message is gone.)
    Any idea's?
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Community Q62.
If it works fine on another TV but not directly with this TV, the problem is with your TV or your cables. Have you eliminated the cables.
