I literally JUST dropped my iPod touch 4g 8gb it cracked the screen

I can still see but there is a big crack going from bottoms to top with smaller cracks. Is there any way I can get a new free one? It fell out of my sweatshirt pocket

Buttbubblebuster,
I think that it depends on how long you have had your iPod. I dropped my iPod touch (also 4th generation and 8GB) and there were major screen cracks. I got it last September and the drop was last month. I got a refurbished model for $99.
Hope this helps,
O.C.
P.S. Make sure to buy a good case. I recommend the Griffin Survivor Case for iPod touch.

i forgot my password to my ipod touch and its disabled and the screen is telling me to connect to itunes but i cant do anything else.

I am having the same issue. My son misplaced his iPod touch and we recently found it under his bed. He then came to me saying he could not remember what his password was and the screen said it was disabled and to connect it to iTunes.  iTunes says it needs to be unlocked.  I have tried turning it off and then holding down the home key and then plugging it in but it fails to go into restore mode.  I have attempted other variations as well (Holding down both the home and sleep buttons, etc but so far nada.  Just curious if anyone else has seen a problem getting it into restore mode and if they found a solution.

  • Ipod touch 2g 8gb cycles between battery screen

ipod touch 2g 8gb cycles between battery screen and logo scree. and does not startup suggestions why ?

After charging for at least an hour I would try in order:
    - resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restoring the iPod, first from backup and then to factory defaults/new iPod.  If iTunes does not see the iPod first try placing the iPod in recovery mode.  If still unsuccessful try placing it in DFU mode.

  • I just purchased an Ipod touch and have been following the download instructions, but it says cannot connect to server.  I have an unsecured wifi in my house.  What am I doing wrong?

I purchased an Ipod touch today and have benn following the install instructions and have rung into a bit of a snag.  It keeps saing it cannot connect to the server.  I have unsecured wifi in my house.  I don't understand?  Help.

By following the install instructions I presume that this means that you have installed the latest iTunes on your PC and have connected the iPod Touch to your PC with the USB connection cable that came with the iPod?
You mention WiFi, does this mean that your PC is connected to the internet through WiFi?
Check to see if you have anti-virus or firewall software running on your PC. If so, temporarily disable it while setting up your iPod. Also check to see if a firewall is setup in your router.

  • Will apple send me a new ipod touch if they cant repair the screen

will apple send me a new ipod touch if they cant repair the screen

No.  They will likely replace your iPod with a refurbished iPod of the same model and refurbish yours for later use as a replacement if it is economical to do so.

  • 2nd generation ipod touch wont turn on. The screen blinks but the apple icon doesn't show up.

I have a 2nd generation ipod touch that I got from a friend. I drove all the way across the country (three day trip) and it worked perfectly. It was in a hard case and has no damages to it. I haven't dropped it or gotten water on it at all. But for some reason the screen wont turn on. It blinks on and off when I plug it into the charger (and theres like a soft clicking noise that I hear when the screen blinks) but the apple logo wont show up. And it doesn't seem to actually be charging. It doesn't seem to actually die all the way either.... It's weird.. but I know no damages have happened to it so I don't know what to do. I've tried to reset it (pressing and holding the home and power buttons) but that wont work either. Help?

All the troubleshooting steps in the above are likely to lead you to restoring the iPod. Follow the instructions in this procedure to the letter. Here they are, with emphasis on some easily overlooked requirements:
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release only the Sleep/Wake button.
Continue pressing and holding the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.Note: If you see the "low battery" screen, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears (iTunes icon and USB connector) release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the "recovery mode" alert ("iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode").
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you do not see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Select the iPod in iTunes and choose "restore from backup".
If you still can't get it to work, you have done all you can and only Apple will be able to help.

  • I accidentally dropped my iPad but it didn't crack the screen just went totally black and it still turns off and on but it's just black and I can't do anything. I need help I don't  know what to do

I accidentally dropped my iPad but it didn't crack. It just went black and I tried turning it on and off and it works but it just stays black and I don't know what to do I desperately need help.

I could not believe it, but it worked. If you have this problem, Here's my word to you: Don't give up! I tried this "magical" fix three times last night. Nothing (...x3!). Then, today I put it upside down on my ottoman and hit the back quite hard. I have no idea how this works and - even a s a scientist - I don"t care! My iPad is up and running again. Go figure... but I am thrilled!!! Thank you, forum. I never would have thought of this on my own. And you just saved me several hundred $$$!
