I see in the forums where many people have had this problem. I just dont know the solution. The pictures that show up through desktop manager have transferred over to my mac, but I can't get the ones on device memory (memory/home/user/pictures). (I was wrong, they are not under preloaded pictures.) can someone please guide me through this. I have desk manager up and running. I'm on a mac...does that make a difference?

The easiest way is to move them on the device from device memory to the media card.

I think there may be more to this question than you say.
If your PDF page is say, 8 x 12 inches, and you found a way to scale it to 25%, changing it to 2 x 3 inch, shrinking everything on the page to quarter size - wouldn't it look exactly the same on the iPhone? It's just going to be the same as zooming.
Or were you hoping for something more like in Word, where changing the page size keeps everything the same size and spreads it over more pages? That isn't something you can do.

The mouseover function is fine the way it is. It's how it
behaves during the slideshow that is a little wierd - it just sits
on the first story. It would be great if it switched to each story
like the small nav at the bottom highlights to each corresponding
nav to its story during the slideshow.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

Can I make Siri understand me more clearly?

Often when I ask Siri questions she doesn't understand what I'm saying, as in like she thinks I said something else.
Is there anyway to make her understand or hear me more clearly? I talk loud enough and don't slur my words so I don't understand what the problem is!!

Make sure the mic hole is clear and unobstructed. It is the little hole on the back by the camera lens

Need help fast - Stated more clearly!!

I use DVD Studio Pro 1 about once a year, so I haven't updated to a newer version, and don't need to. I film footage for the local highschool teams where I teach and burn it to DVD for the players. I have done this for the past few years and never had any problems. This year when I burn the DVD which is supposed to be 3.76 GB I get a DVD out with only 1/3 of the back showing that it has been burned and it won't play. The Apple DVD player will state that I have an error -36.
I know this means the computer has fallen to sleep in the build or format process, but it hasn't. The computer was set to never sleep.
I figured I was doing something wrong, so I have rebuilt the project from scratch more than three times. I still get the same results, however, when I burn the DVD from last year, which is still saved on my hard drive it worked. What is going on???
I have checked and rechecked everything I can think of. I have gotten out the book and checked for anything I may have done wrong.
I have called applecare, and just get put on hold or disconnected.
HELP!!!!
The boys should have had their DVD's over a month ago, I and I can't get it out of the computer.

V1 was a little bit temperamental during the burn process, and was easily stopped by network activity of any kind, screen savers, power saving or any number of other things. You need to turn all of these off, disconnect from any network activity at all (including email and web surfing, etc) and then check that all of your assets are good.
You say there is no need for you to upgrade from v1, however I would disagree. As the OS is improving, so the legacy support built in for earlier versions of DVDSP is diminishing. I do still run v1.5 (very occasionally, and not for production projects), but it is less stable now than when I was running it in OS 10.1.x - have you also upgraded quicktime lately?
There could be any number of issues here, but since your older project seems to burn correctly then it isn't likely to be the burner or the media that you are using... the problem will be in your software and configuration.

Make signatures more clear

It would be nice if users signatures were a little more obviously separated from their forum posts. Currently it's hard to tell what's part of the post and what's part of the signature unless you read multiple posts from the same person.

You should be able to do that by following this procedure:
Reply to a message like this one.
In the text editor, type your signature line and then customize it by font style and color.
Open the HTML tab. Click Ctrl a to select all, then Ctrl c to copy.
Paste the HTML code into notepad.
Delete your reply comments in the text editor and do not post - hit Cancel.
Then go to "My Settings" > "Personal Information" and paste the HTML code into the signature box.
Scroll to the bottom and click "Save".

I downloaded a handwritten doc that is illegible, can I make it more clear to read?

The document is an old birth certificate. I can't read the names of the mother and father. I wonder if thebirth certificate department will help me?
In the meantime, does any one know of a tool that makes writing more legible? (I've seen such a thing on television crime movies.

What kind of document is that and how bad does it look?
Is it a PDF file or an image file (JPG, PNG, TIFF) or something else?
If you can extract it as an image then you can try to improve the contrast or gamma with an image editor or use other filters in such a program. It may not be possible to do much about this if the quality is really bad.

How do you fully restore a back up of itunes? i have one fully saved on an external drive called 'backup' and it was from february, but i have only added some cd's since then, so they can be re-added later. So how do i clear what is in my internal harddrive itunes (which has a double library...half of them have the exclamation point/file not found...some set of itunes is taking up space on my internal but it says its also taking it from the external, hence the 'double library' issure) and fully restore the february back up of itunes that i have saved in the external drive? please help! any ideas are welcome

Thank you for your time and help guys,.... to check the path i use to have, i select a song with the ! mark, and comand I to get hte info and inone of the info tabs, you can see where the file was located at,... and i realice i had a missing space in the folder name where my music was. Made the change, restarted itunes and the problem was fixed.

Here is my specific scenario: One PC and my PowerBook, both with gigabit (irrelevant), when hooked Directly to each other, no LAN involved, will transfer data slowly when it should have (near) full gigabit data rates. WHEN I use a 10/100 NIC on the PC connected to the PowerBook, I can obtain (near) full 100Mbps. I have even replaced the motherboard (onboard gigabit nic) to make sure my pc wasnt the issue.
Further, when the two computers are hooked into my school's lan, the pc will load web pages very quickly compared to my powerbook in which there will be a very noticeable wait time. Google even takes a good time to load. This isn't just me perceiving it to be slow. It's very obvious.

Autopunch issue: maybe I can be more clear?

Sorry if my original autopunch question was confusing. I got a lot of views but no replies. I can't be sure why. Let me try again.
The autopunch shortcut (choosing an area with the Marquee tool then hitting record), will automatically enable autopunch for the chosen area, jump the playhead to right before that area (your pre-roll position), and start recording. This is great! The problem is that it will only jump the playhead to that area if the playhead was originally sitting somewhere after the area you want to record. If the playhead is originally sitting somewhere before the area you choose, once you hit record the playhead simply starts moving at it's current position, instead of jumping forward to right before the area you chose. This means you would have to wait for the playhead to play through all the measures between it's current position and the area you want to record before you can start recording. I know I can manually move the playhead forward, but I'm wondering why the shortcut is not consistent regardless of where the playhead is originally sitting.
If I'm missing something blatantly obvious about this, please feel free to let me know.

I hear ya. What I do is to set up a cyle that starts where I want my pre-roll to start and is one measure longer than the auto-punch area. That way, if I decide I want to do another take, I can just let the cycle record another one. In this scenario, the one measure of post-roll acts as a measure of pre-roll for the cycle record. If you don't have the extra measure set in the cycle, you will have to be really fast with your preferred method of stopping the recording in order to avoid it starting another take immediately after the punch out point.
Does that make sense?

This is a fairly common error, as a scan of the topic list will show, and likely due to a design flaw in the layout of the composition page.
Most posters who make this error do so on their first post, and are able to avoid a similar misstep on their second and subsequent questions.

Video at an event where person was using a sound system. The venue was an indoor riding ring. There is ecko from the sound system. How do I lessen this using the audio effects? tks sarah

Unfortunately, even with a program like Adobe Audition, there is not much that you can do about this. It is the ambience from the arena.
Now, you might look into using a Compression VST and some EQ, to minimize it. I do not believe that PE has either of these by default, but it can use many VST plug-ins. I'd look here and see what they have. You will have to experiment to see which ones work with PE. If they do not, I *think* that Audacity will accept VST plug-ins. I know that PrPro and Audition both do.

ICal almost impossible to see the text. How I can make it more clear?

My iCal application comes with text and design so faint that it is almost impossble to read dates.

Have same problem, new to mac, all happy with moving away from outlook for email and iCal fine in all respects except if a i cant see the numbers the whole excercise has been a waste of time and i am on the verge of moving back to outlook.
I really prefer iCal's simplicity but why oh why ! can i not just darken the font !!!!!
