I load firefox it checks the compatibility of the add-ons. They are compatible, I have confirmed this through an addon but it doesnt go away. I also always loads the "welcome to firefox page" that you usually get after an update. How do I stop this?
Click any firefox link and it loads a box first checking the compatibility. This can take anything from 20 seconds to 5 mins to complete. When that finishes it loads up the standard page you get up after you update firefox plus my homepage. It also freezes and lags ("not responding") briefly as well if I try to close it down and sometimes crashes.
This happens without fail every time that I load up firefox and some help would be much appreciated in resolving this.

The ‘Welcome to Firefox’ page that shows up after an update is installed has been coming up when ever I start up Firefox since I did the last update to 18.0.1, several days ago. How do I get it to stop?
The problem turned out to be an error on the prefs.js file where one or two of the parameters with the current version number were not properly updated, so the browser always thought I was opening it for the first time on a new version. I edited the version number in those parameters to agree with the version number in the Help/About dropdown and the problem went away. It has been a while now and I do not recall which were the faulty parameters, but here are the ones in my current prefs.js file that refer to the browser version (currently 21.0 for me):

I programmed a set of quizzes in Director 8.0 for one of my courses about ten years ago and have been updating them since. And, yes, I did purchased 11.5, but can't use it because I can't use printing w POM or a number of other extras anymore. My semester is about to start and Adobe has updated the Shockwave player in Windows over the summer (I think?) causing my quizzes to not work in a web browser. I am getting this message and can't figure out what is causing it:

I have been working on this for a day and a half and am stumped. I made two apps in 11.5 for WIndows .exe and Mac .app that partially work, but can't get the quizzes to work in Firefox 13 or IE 9. I searched the web and could not find anything useful. I found a message in this forum from back in 2009 where someone had a similar problem and Sean WIlson said to add a parameter that specifed Player version =11, but that was back in 2009. I tried that PARAM and still get the error. I tried updating the quiz menu .dcr on the web to 11.5, but that didn't work. With all of the updates lately to browsers, the Shockwave plug-in, and Director 11.5, I don't know what is generating the error. I am assuming its Shockwave player doesn't like something, but have no idea what this movie reference to an incorrect version of Shockwave player is referring to. We're up to player 11.6 now. Do we have to include this in the embed statement or is there something else that is causing this error? Please help, thanks!
Edit: Oddly, the quizzes are still working on a MacBook Pro using Firefox 13.0.1. I don't know what the Shockwave Player version is. On the Windows 7 side of this MacBook running bootcamp, it was running Shockwave Player 11.6.4. I thought maybe I should uninstall it and install the latest 11.6.6, which I did. The latest version of Shockwave made no difference on Windows 7. I also tried to run the quizzes on an HP laptop running Windows Vista, Firefox 14.0.1 and Shockwave Player 11.6 installed back Jan 2012 accoridng to the Control Panel. Same error message. Tried it using IE 8, which just seemed to do a Shockwave update - no problem the quizzes run.Send me a Private Message and I'll provide an email address where you could send your DCR and HTML and I'll see if I can help.

when I move mouse on Firefox-History (it must show context menu) he just begins to think, and after ~20 seconds he looks like I haven't pressed any buttons! I tried to turn off all addons but it doesn't help. Also he "thinks" everytime when he gets new downloading and sometimes on pushing Bookmarks
Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

Recently read on a deal site forum page that you can only use Apple lightning cables to charge iPad Air or iPad Mini Retina running iOS 7 or higher. Is that the case or will any 8-pin to USB cable work? Thx in advance for any helpful replies.
Due to a lot of bad press that Apple was getting due to burnt chargers, shocked users (the electrical kind...), etc., due to the lousy third party El Cheapo brand generics, as of iOS 7 the cable must be Apple-certified before the iGadget deigns to use it for charging purposes. Unfortunately (for Apple) the old traditional USB to 30-pin cable is just that, a straight piece of wire, and can't be validated by the iGadget. But lo & behold, the new gear uses the new Lightning cable, which contains an embedded chip that CAN be validated and lousy imitations disabled from use.

Logic Studio is not available anymore, so unless you can find an "old stock" copy somewhere, you will never be able to upgrade in the future.
Logic Pro 9 has all the content from the Studio box available for download, with the exception of the 20G of Soundtrack Pro content. Soundtrack Pro is no longer available at all.
Logic Studio also contained several other applications: Mainstage, Compressor (available separately from the AppStore), Waveburner (no longer available), plus some other utilities.

I upgraded to IOS 6, I am unable to get into my Yahoo mail. It accepts pw, and pops up and tells me how many e-mails I have and then goes right back to the sign on screen. verified that I can get in from laptop & wireless is functioning.any suggestions?

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever. -
I am trying to set up my daughter's iTouch. I am connected to our Wi-Fi, and have confirmed this in Settings, but when we try and open any webpage we receive the message that page cannot be opened because not connected to the Internet. I have already re-set the iPod, have shut-down and restarted, and told the iPod to "Forget Network". please help - i am going bananas!
Encryption wouldn't matter except for Wifi.
While 10.2 might help, there's not much you can do on the Internet these days with less than 10.4.11

You can also try one more workaround for this by using PSE Organizer. The steps are as follows:
1. Create a facebook cover. In case you don't know how to creatw a facebook cover, please go through Photoshop Elements Help | Create a Facebook profile and cover picture
2. Save the cover with "Include in Elements Organizer" option checked.
3. Now, go to Elements Organizer and export that file.
- Select the cover photo.
- Go to File > Export as New File
- Choose format and location.
- Click OK.
4. Now, you can use this file to upload.

Well I am truly staggered, I have tried this on two different MacBook Pros, with three different external USB optical drives. Don't know if you googled as I suggested but you would find hundreds of others who have found same thing. The exception is MacBook Air which works with the Apple writer, but I don't know much about this.
