I lock my mac with find my iphone feature! now i forgot the 4 digits code

hi
I lock my mac with find my iphone feature! now i forgot the 4 digits code and i can't access to the computer.
the fact is that someone stole my Mac about 1 and a half years ago! so the day after i realise my mac wasn't in the my house i immediately blocked by find my iphone with the hope to find but i didn't get nothing, then after 1 year i received a message telling my that my Mac was successfully blocked and my mac used to call "Kevin Gr. MacBook air" and the message i got from apple said that "Dou MacBook air" was successfully blocked. that time i realised who was the one who stole my Mac a "friend" :/ he was the only one that i know that uses that nickname for everything! well i didn't did much because i wasn't that sure that he stole it! but one day in a party in his house well not a party but all friends hanging out, they decided to go to the disco so i said that i was very tired and i managed to stay at his home, so when they left the house i decided to search for my thing, and after 30 min of searching i finally found all the things they stole :/ and my mac was there!   so I immediately took all my thing and left the house! i called him telling him that i found all my things and ill took them home! he was stunned for a moment and then he said sorry for everything, but all that things he was going to buy! but he knew it was our stolen stuffs and blah blah blah
well now i wanted to open my computer and its locked with the 4 digits code that i put a year ago and i don't remember, there is a way to unlock it? or i just need to reinstall the OS!
thank you and sorry for my english.

If you don't know the passcode you'll have to force it into recovery mode to restore it, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.  Then restore it to an existing backup, if you have one.

  • I am unable to use the ipad3 as the original owner has passed away, he had set it up with find my iPhone but now I have no way of getting his Apple ID or password. What can I do to use this?

I'm uunable to use iPad do to not knowing user name or password. Original owner passed away. It was set up with find my iPhone.

  • Locked Mac with Find My iPhone app

So I used the "find my iPhone app" to lock my MacBook Air and it says the code is incorrect that I entered on the app. I am 100% sure of the code I typed in but it isn't working. How can I fix this?

the lock screen you are seeing is not the Find my phone remote lock screen but the firmware password screen. Preventing unauthorised access to Start up options. Restart normally and see what happens.
If you get the same message, boot with the options key again and choose Recovery 10.9. Once booted open Disk Utility and Repair Permissions and Disk.
    Restart.
Failing this you could be looking at booting again and reinstalling OS X either from a Time Machine backup or a fresh install.

  • Help with locating my Mac with find my iPhone

My Mac was stolen and I uploaded find my iPhone to my phone. It has not located my computer yet and I am concerned that since I had to reset my password for icloud which obviously was not reset on my stolen computer, that find my Mac will not be able to locate it due to the resetting. Is this correct? Please help

I called Apple support.  The good thing is they took my call and didn't charge me an applecare Pay-per-incident phone support.
Their suggestion is to reinstall Mountain Lion, original version.
    I do that by:
Restart the mac with option key pressed down to get to  "Start up manager"
In "Start up Manager" I am to Choose recovery HD
Under Recovery HD I am to choose the option to reinstall OS to install 10.8
He said it will take a good hour to reinstall, so I'll try tonight.
His guess is that when I originally downloaded Mountain Lion that a kernal was missing -- one that drives the mini port. If that's the case, Reinstalling the OS will fix the problem.
If that doesn't work, he is sending me to a mac store where they can boot my mac with an external drive -- and then they can check the hardware - the mini-port - to see if the problem is my mini-port or Mountain Lion.

  • Lost & Found iPhone with Find My iPhone - Feature Request

Yes I found the lost phone and I'm very very grateful for the existing feature which works flawlessly once you get a hold of it but from a real life use case, there are things that can be improved that will make it more efficient and effective. This is a summary of feature requests that I figure from the real-life use case of Find My iPhone.
Earlier this week my friend dropped his iPhone on a cab and realize at the end of the day (he initially thought he left it at home) that it must have fell off his pocket in the cab where he can hardly remember the color of the cab let alone the license plate. Having said that I asked him if he had iCloud turned on (basically Find My iPhone in recent iOS) and so we checked. So here is where all the difficulties begin and please keep in mind that in a situation like this we're always in a hurry if not panicking.....
    1. You typically have more than 1 mobile phones:
a.) Where its most likely different brand, model, or OS (you don't buy two identical phones) so in this case he has a Samsung Android where iCloud page can not be rendered - it throws an error. So this didn't work
b.) You need to borrow your friend's "iPhone" to find it and not many people find it obvious that you need to download the Find my iPhone app in addition to just activating iCloud to track a phone. Thats another long step considering in some countries u have a really crappy 3G or sometimes on Edge
c.) If you are lucky your friend have an iPhone or an iPad, you go to www.icloud.com it doesn't do anything except tell you "how to turn on icloud", download Find my Friends, and Find my iPhone.....you need a laptop browser to be able to use the tracking feature....why????? I understand that it won't work with other brands of mobile phones but these are both Apple's!!!
    2. When you realize that you have lost your phone, you don't always have your laptop or an iPad - but you always have mobile phones let it be your secondary one or your friend's. Moreover, your laptop rarely have cellular connection so even if you have it, aside from the fact that it takes you 15 minutes to boot up your laptop, you also have to find yet ANOTHER phone to tether or find a 3G card to plug in to it so it can use cellular as oppose to just wifi, and then walk around with a laptop looking for the lost phone. And laptop don't have GPS, you don't know where you are relative to your lost phone.
    3. You are trying to look for your iPhone from another iPhone (the most convenient way) but you only see ONE dot that shows your lost iPhone but not "you" who are walking around looking for it so you have to:
1.) Open the Find My Iphone app and then see where your phone is located
2.) Open up Google Map (sad but true, Google map is currently the preferable map) to find where you are. Why Google map? In a less developed country, google maps works a lot better in detail.
3.) Try to find where you are relative to where the lost phone is across 2 maps and 2 different apps. But even if it was Apple map, its still 2 different apps switching back and forth.
Yes, the idealistic case which would disregard all this is that you have 2 Apple devices logged on to the same iCloud account then you can see 2 dots but not everyone have enough of that to make it useful :-)
    4. You use to have a send message button, lock the phone, make noise, and erase the phone. Now you need to first lock the phone before you can send a message. Understand that you should always lock the phone first but when you're panicking, making the feature obvious would help
    5. Would be nice to know the "percentage" of the battery and being able to shut down all the apps, dim the screen, and etc. to maximize the battery time before the phone goes dead might be helpful.
It was almost a miracle to get the phone back in a place like this where people tend to immediately shut down your phone and throw away the sim card once they get a hold of it. My friend was very lucky that the phone was in silent and fell into the crack of the backseat and the cab was parked outside the garage so the GPS location was absolutely precise.
Having mentioned that, iOS7 new security feature that requires your Apple login credentials to erase or turn off Find my iPhone. My question here being it says, find my iphone can continue to display message even after erased - if that is the case will I still be able to track it as well? What if I'm the person who erased it remotely, will I still be able to display message as well as track it?

This is a user to user community, Apple are unlikely to read your comments, if you have any suggestions that you think might enhance iCloud you can send Apple your feedback here.
We also can't speculate on what exactly iOS 7's new security features will actually do, all that's available is what has been said so far by Apple, anyone using a developer version is forbidden to discuss it anywhere but in the developers community.

  • Mac with Finder's FTP...what's the deal?

I've seen that Finder is unable to do anything except read only in the FTP world. Does anyone know of a hack or some commands that can be put into terminal to fix this? I know I can just use an ftp client, but the integrated link into the Finder makes it much easier to work with remote documents like local drives (rather than having to continuously update and re-backup documents, and I have been able to do this with local network connections). Supposedly this is due to security reasons? Anyways, if anyone could put their linux/unix/mac knowledge in, I would greatly appreciate it.

As anyone (no ?) knows, Finder has a poor FTP implementation.
If you absolutely think using the Fnder is better, take a look at MacFuse and ftp module (full article here)

  • TS2446 i locked my phone and forgot the pass code

i locked my phone nad now i forgot the pass code and my ohone says iphone is disabled

If it has been Disabled after entering the wrong passcode - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.
Unfortunately, you must restore it in iTunes on your computer.   There is no way to retrieve a forgotten pass lock code.
You will need to Restore your device from the same computer that you most recently synced to. See - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414.

  • HT201365 Company devices are locked with new iOS 7 lock/find my iphone feature, how do we unlock it?

I am in the IT dept for my company and we primarily use iPhones, however, we recently had to release an employee and when his iPhone and iPad were recovered they were locked with the new iOS 7 lock/find my iphone feature.  We have treid to remotely wipe is, DFU mode and restoring to a different iTunes account and have not been successful?  If we can not find a solution to this issue, we will be force to move away from iPhones and adopt Androids.  This could be a very bad move for Apple in the buisness world.

There's no way around it without the ID/password used to lock it. You either need to come up with stronger policies, start actually managing the devices, or stop providing them to employees in the first place and move to a BYOD model.

  • Trouble with Find my IPhone on my IPad

I am trying to set up Find My iPhone so that I can find each of my devices with any of the others.  I own a MacBook Pro, an iPad wifi 2nd gen, and an iPhone 4S.  On the iPhone, Find My iPhone can see and locate the iphone itself and the Mac.  My iPad does not show up on the list of devices.  On the iPad, Find My iPhone only sees the iPad itself.  Neither my iPhone nor my MacBook show up in the list of devices.  What is the point of finding a device that you are currently using an app on (therefore it is in your own lap)?  They are all connected to the same iCloud account, and I have shut them down and rebooted them with no change.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, since my paranoia is growing that I will lose something before I get this sorted out.  Thanks.

Thank you for responding! Ok, I'm starting to feel stupid here. The link sends me off to do the basics which I have already done.
Don't what you meanby to do the basics? It an iCloud website to locate, lock, send a message, etc to your devices when you sign in.
I have iCloud on and operating on all devices.  I have find my iphone installed on all devices.  They are not, however, all using the same Internet access.  Do I need to find them and introduce them to each other while they are all accessing the same Internet source?
Are they all using the same Apple ID in iCloud?
Find My iPhone is builtin on latest OSX and IOS, you only needs to turn it ON in Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone : ON.  The Find My iPhone/iPad/Mac app on iPhone/iPad/Mac is for locating other devices. How can you use FMi to locate a device if that device is gone?

  • HT201365 can i clear my device with find my iphone if the device is switched off

can i clear my device with find my iphone if the device is switched off

I'm kinda guessing here, but your phone was stolen and you want to lock it, but it is showing offline? You can send an lock request, and a delete request, but if it is offline, it will not be received until the device goes back online again. If  the device has the latest iOS on it, and Find My iPhone active, then it cannot be activated without your Apple ID and password. It will be a brick. And, if they try to activate, it will connect to the Internet and you will be able to track and the erase will activate.
