i locked my ipad air with a passcode and i dont remember what it is. what do i need to do to get on my ipad air again?

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to Restore the device...
1) Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore...

You may need to try this More than Once... Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...
Once you have Recovered your Device...

It sounds like the Passcode Lock code was changed and you cannot use the iPad. According to the following article you will have to restore the device to reset the passcode. The instructions to do this are different if you have not synced to iTunes before, so be sure to use the correct steps:

When I power up my ipad air the apple logo comes up like it should then the lock screen only comes up for a second or less so I can't swipe it fast enough.

The lock screen just disappears. I have to hit the sleep/wake or home button to bring the lock screen back up so I can swipe it. Have others found this situation with the iPad Air. I have an iPad 2 and it does not happen at all. The Apple store checked it out. One rep said to me this is unusual and had a tech check it out and they said this is normal. If the iPad is suppose to be user friendly, why this extra step to get to the lock screen? Are other owners of the iPad Air having the same problem? If so, what have you done to correct it?

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

I have just purchased a Ipad Air Cellular in the UK , it came with a Pre Loaded EE nano sim, can you tell me if that means my Ipad is Locked to that carrier? as it also had the option to have it without the sim included?

Broken lock switch on new iPad air

Has anyone else experienced problems with the lock switch that controls the landscape and portrait orientation on the iPad air? Bought 128 gig. New iPad air and the switch broke after a few days. To make it worse I took it to the Genius Bar and they verified it was broken and have been waiting two days for a replacement. My husband bought one too and his has been fine. Based on the price, I'm a little frustrated with the quality issue but maybe it is an isolated case.

I don't see many complaints here or online so probably isolated. Besides, it sounds like the issue is already resolved since they are giving you a new iPad.

My iPad Air doesn't lock with a Smart Cover

I have an iPad Air first generation with iOS 8.2 on it. I purchased an official Apple Smart Cover and the smart lock/unlock does not work. I have the lock/ unlock setting enabled in settings>general. I have also tried an aftermarket smart case and it doesn't work either. The screen doesn't lock and I don't hear an audible lock sound. I have tried restoring my iPad. I took my iPad to the Apple Store and they told me the iPad was out of warranty and offered to sell me a refurbished iPad of the same model for $299. I was disappointed this was the only option they gave me. What else can I try?

I bought the iPad Air at Future Shop few days ago, and I was trying to enable the lock/unlock feature, but I couldn't find it in setting. I checked everywhere, but I still don't see it. Can anybody help me?

What "lock/unlock" feature are you referring to? The Screen Lock? That's in Settings -> General -> Passcode Lock
If you're referring to the Smart Cover lock/unlock, that setting is in that same settings pane, right below the Restrictions.
If this doesn't answer your question, please post back and explain further what it is you're looking for.

I guess I never noticed that the swipe to open doesn't stay on very long. But, I've not found this to be an issue as I usally swipe the moment I have the option to swipe. It's been so long since I had a 2nd generation iPad that I honestly can't remember if it stayed on longer. It's still not a problem for me. There is no setting which will let you keep the swipe to open on longer, so it would reasonable for Apple to say there is nothing wrong with your iPad

I have just become aware that when i now open the cover, i get a home screen and not the lock screen

1/ My wife says her iPad2 does the same
2/ I think that if there are any notifications then the Lock screen will appear - will have to try this
3/ If i operate the sleep/wake button manually ( the button at the top RH it works ok

Thanks for the replies. I like to power down most of the time to save battery so if it's gonna be normal for me not to be able to get to the slider screen before it goes into sleep I guess I will have to accept it. However I'm sure I remember rightly that the first few times I used it after set up it used to stay on screen for several seconds to allow me to slide the button over. Now it never does and to be honest I would expect it to wait after all you don't boot up your PC and then it immediately go into sleep mode unless something was wrong. I thought most things when powered on would let you sign in or whatever before "going to sleep".
Just concerned to do a reset in case the darned thing does erase stuff which would seriously tee me off. Appreciate the feedback guys.
