I locked my ipod and never changed the passcode before i locked it and it wont open

ok what happened was i was on the us and my friend wanted to see it so i let her try it open it...she didnt know the passcode so i told her and it didnt open when i told her. then i try it, again, again, and again then it locked for a 1 min then 5 then 10 then 60! and now i dont know what to do!!! HELP

Connect the iPod to your syncing computer and restore it.  If for some reason it asks for the passcode and you can't successfully enter it, place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore it.  For recovery mode see:

  • I bought sushi go round on my ipod and it wont open?

    it will open, then after like a second of loading, it goes back to my main screen. please help. i want to play this game. ad its not only this app, its multiple of them.

    Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.
    There's more to try but let's go a bit at a time.

  • I have never changed my passcode and now I'm locked out.  Others had this?  Solutions?

    I have an ipad air with a passcode that's never had the passcode changed.  Tonight I entered it as usual and it was repeatedly rejected, locked me out, etc.
    I'm now going through the painful process of having to restore it (fun to do as you have to do it in recovery mode given turning find my phone off and you can't when passcode protected).
    I'm concerned about why or how this happened in the first place so as to avoid it in the future.  Any ideas?
    I am not jailbroken.  100% as from the mfg.
    Thanks.

    Option 1
    Force iPad into Recovery Mode. Follow step 1 to 6 very closely.

    If You Are Locked Out Or Have Forgotten Your Passcode or Just Need to Restore Your Device

      2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
      3. iOS- Understanding passcodes
         If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
         below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
         simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
         same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
    A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
    If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
    Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
    Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
    Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
             option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
             you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
               After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
              to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
              iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
              backup to restore, then restore as New.
    If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

    my ipad is disabled because my daughter changed the passcode and then she forget it and now we tried several times and the ipad is sdisabled and says to connect to itunes what do i do to undisable it?

    Try this first - I saw a recent post where a user with the same problem after an iOS update used his Apple ID password.
    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • I changed the passcode on my 4G and now I can't remember it.  I have to have my phone for work.  How do I get it unlocked?  PLEASE HELP
    Hi-i changed the passcode on my 4G and now I cannot remember it - I must have it for work - can you help me reset it or at least take the passcode off?
    If you have a passcode to the screen lock that you've forgotten, restore the iPhone from the computer to which the iPhone is synced. For information and instructions, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
    If that will not work, you'll need to put the iPhone into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:
    On both your devices go to Settings>iCloud, then scroll down and click "Delete Account". You can then sign back in using your updated details.
    Note: "Delete Account" will not delete data from iCloud, it will simply remove the account from your device.
    Hi Michele,
    Select the paragraphs where you want to change the spacing.
    Format Panel > Text > Spacing
    You can change 1.0 - Single to something else, or type a number in Before or After.
    I changed the passcode on my ipad and cannot remember what I changed it to.... I've looked online for answers and tried everything.  Help.
    What happens when you use the instructions on the HT1212 page that you posted from ? If you being prompted to enter the passcode when you connect the iPad to your computer(s) then you will need reset your iPad back to factory defaults, as described in the second half of the page, and you can then restore/resync your content back to it
  • I forgot my restrictions passcode, if I do a restore to new with my phone and change the passcode, can I then backup from a previous restore
    I forgot my restrictions passcode, if I do a restore to new phone in iTunes and change the passcode, can I then backup from a previous restore to put everything back onto my phone.
    No you cannot. The restrictions passcode is part of the backup, and if you restore to a backup that contains the restrictions passcode, you will be right back where you started. Only alternative is to restore the device as new, or if you restore to a backup, it has to be before the restrictions passcode was entered into the phone. However, that could mean that you would be restoring to a date that does not contain all of your data.
    I have used the resume tablet and put my resume into format but when emailing it, it will not open on windows. How can I change the format to where they will be able to open and view it?
    I guess you mean one of the resume templates.
    What "format" have you saved your finished resume in?
    The only formats a Windows user will be able to open are .doc (Word), .pdf and rtf. The 1st 2 are usually the best.
    There is no Windows version of Pages.
