I locked my Macbook Pro using Find my Mac.

I type in the passcode, and it does not leave the lock screen. I have tried different networks, and a wrong passcode doesn't effect anything. How can I get out of this screen?

My iMac just got locked somehow, and not by me. It was showing the 6-digit lock pin code and I tried 123456 and it worked, however my entire hard drive has been erased. I had to set up the computer like it was new and I have no idea if I can recover any data. By the way, I also took it to Apple today when it was still locked and they said they could not help me because it was remotely locked through icloud. I am the only owner and I did not lock it, so I am guessing my apple ID/iCloud has been hacked.
Good Luck, try 123456 for the pin

  • So my Psychotic now Ex-Boyfriend locked my Macbook Pro using " Find my iPhone"

I need to ask how to get my Macbook unlocked. My now Ex-Boyfriend decided since I broke up with him, it was a good idea to Hijack my Macbook Pro and lock it with the 4 digit pin number. I just got to my mothers house and I am now trying to figure out how to unlock it. Should I call Tech Support? Should I call the Apple store? Should I take it to the Apple store? Any suggestions? Is there any way to unlock it right here and now?

Take it to the Apple store along with proof of ownership and they can unlock it.  If he has access to your iCloud account, you should also change your password as explained here: iCloud: Change your iCloud password.

Barry, the other stolen computer, my IMac does not show me a locked on such and such date, but simply says offline.  I set that computer to erase when it goes online and notify me when it is found, and to play a tone and play a message that the police are on their way!

  • I decided to remote lock my Macbook Pro from Find My iPhone. It's been three weeks and still no lock.

About three weeks ago, I was sitting in class, got bored, and decided that I'd try and see what would happen if I locked my Macbook Pro (17-inch 2.66 GHz on 10.8.2, early 2009) from Find My iPhone. I'm concerned because my Mac has never locked, despite being used daily, on a variety of networks, including buying from iTunes, and using Messages. I've turned off the computer multiple times since, and I really can't think of any other scenarios that I'd have to go through to get the Mac connected to Find My Mac. Is there anything I can do or is this just an oversight by Apple?

I think this is what you're saying, but I'm not sure:
You had turned on Find My Mac on your MacBook Pro in System Preferences > iCloud.
Then (while in class) you did a Find My Mac from your iPhone.  Presumably you did indeed see it pop up on a map there in its correct location.  You then sent a "lock" command which never took effect.  Further, you received an email confirmation that the lock commend actually got sent.
    Is that right?

  • Please help! I erased my Macbook Pro on Find My Mac.

Hello, I purchased a refurbished Macbook Pro in December 2012.  Fast forward to September 2013, my hard drive crashed (lost everything) and was forced to bring it to the store to replace the hard drive.  Picked up my laptop this last Saturday and it was in brand new factory condition (had to set it up like the first time).  As I am setting up my Macbook on my Find My Phone app on my phone, I was a bit confused because the pre-hard drive crash Macbook was under my list of devices and I chose to Erase it because I thought I was removing it from the list (very stupid).  Well apparently, pre-hard drive crash Macbook and new hard drive Macbook turns out to be the same one and I completely erased all factory settings from my laptop.  Since I was sans laptop for 2 weeks at the Apple Store, I decided to re-install the Mountain Lion as per the instructions of start up since I did not have anything saved other than a couple of profile settings, etc.  Once installed, everything seemed fine, but when I come to use it today, I am missing a ton of applications that originally came with my Macbook, iPhoto, Garageband to name a few.  I need help as I do not want to pay for all these apps that came with my laptop originally, btw they cost $14.99+.  Also, my flash player doesn't work, I can't view an online PDF menu for a restaurant for example.  I have a scheduled appointment at the Genius Bar this week, but I am afraid how long that is going to take.  Please help!!  Thanks

The genius bar appointment is the easy way to get things restored.  You can try yourself by opening the App Store, sign in by clicking Store on the menu bar, and the select Prurchases.  See if your iLife applications show up.  If they do, download each of them.

  • Can I add the serial numbers of my already stolen macbook pro to Find My Mac so the laptop can be located in my icloud system?

    No, this is not possible.

  • Find my macbook pro using iCloud

Today i loss my macbook pro 2009 model. It has Mountain Lion and iCloud enabled. also I know my My Macbook Pro serial number. But I protect it with password but guest user also enabled. My precious data is in My user's folder. Now my questions are.
How can I find my Macbook pro using iCloud, If someone know kindly tell me in details.
Is there possibility that user can connect to Internet because now it has not admin rights because only my name user has admin rights and it is password protected. I think if he'll connect to Internet I can access iCloud.
How much my data is secured.
How can I delete my data from iCloud.
I am bit sad. Kindly help to find my mac. Thanks

    1. If you turned on Find my Mac on your Mac, open http://www.icloud.com, log in with your Apple ID, and select "Find my iPhone" to track your MacBook. You can see where's the Mac, lock and wipe it, but it must be connected to the Internet. If you haven't turned on Find my Mac, you can't track the computer.
    2. If he connects to the Internet using the guest user, you will be able to track, lock and wipe the Mac.
    3. It's so easy to reset your user password, so your data isn't so safe. However, if you wipe your Mac from Find my iPhone, you won't be able to track it anymore.
    4. If you want to delete data from iCloud, just open http://www.icloud.com and start deleting your data

I've been locked out my MacBook Pro, I was able to lock the MacBook with the find my iPhone app but I'm unable to unlock it with the app or by punching in the code directly to the MacBook, so far the apple store or reps over the phone can not help. I've called a third party retail store for assistance and the tell me I have to pay, even if I get it to work or not... So far nothing these apple "genius" will do to help with this product solution.

I would guess the fan is the cause of the noise. Suggest you take a look at it.

    2.  You can't use iTunes to find your computer.   You can use icloud.com from another computer to find it if you setup Find my Mac on the lost macbook pro.

  • Lock new macbook pro

    HI,
I am interested in a new MacBook Pro however, I need to use this in an open office environment where theft is an issue.  I lock my current MacBook Pro using a cable lock that attaches to a small slot on the side of the Macbook Pro (2009 model).
I noticed on the new MacBook Pros that there is no cable lock slot on them.  I found a third party solution that requries glueing an attachment to the MacBook Pro and I find this an unacceptable solution.  Is there a way of locking the MacBook Pro to a desk without having to resorting to glue something to the case?
For me, not having the ability to lock the laptop, is a completely unacceptable design flaw from Apple as anyone paying $4000 for a laptop in a professional environment would likely need to lock the device.
Would anyone know of a solution that can lock the new MacBook Pro's without having to glue something to the case?
If I can't find an acceptable solution, I am left with only one choice when purchasing my next laptop and that is to buy a PC laptop that I can lock (which I don't want to do) although that is the path that I will follow if Apple doesn't provide a mechanism of locking a (very expensive) laptop.

    PLZ  Help

Oh, you remote-locked your MacBook using Find My Mac? If you can't remember the 6-digit code, then you're out of luck. You can't unlock it. The only thing you can do now is contact AppleCare for assistance. If you're no longer covered by an AppleCare warranty, the phone call will cost $25, so you might want to start with the link:

Cannot install Windows XP Professional on my MacBook Pro using Boot Camp. When I get to the point of inserting the Windows disc and clicking 'Install' at the Boot Camp Assistant screen, it keeps telling me that it cannot find the Install Disc. The installation disc I am using is a new full install disc. I have tried to do the same thing using a Windows 7 disc with the same results. Does anyone have any answers. I am getting desperate!

  • We are having old home movies put on DVD's. How do we import them to MacBook Pro using Snow Leopard and iMovie 8.0.6.  Can watch the video, but can't get it to import.

We are having old home movies put on DVD's. How do we import them to MacBook pro using Snow Leopard and iMovie 8.0.6?  Can watch the movies on the laptop, but they will not import.

We took 3 video cassette 8mm that were recorded in the early 90's to a place that burned the videos onto 3 DVDs.  When inserted to our Mac, the DVD player comes on to play the DVD. Opened Quicktime, but can find no way to import. Went to File>Open File>Sony_DVD_Recorder_Volume. Clicked on Sony_DVD-Recorder_Volume and it shows a file named VIDEO_TS.  Clicked on that and 6 files showed VIDEO_TS.BUP,   VTS_01-0.BUP,   VTS_01_0.IFO,  VTS-01_1.VOB,   VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB.  Where is DVDxDV?
