I loose my wireless printer connection after sleeping?

My wireless link is fine until my Mac goes to sleep. After waking I can't print via wireless connection unless I completely shut down and restart my Mac.

Hello Warrior801,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information, take a look at:
Troubleshooting printer issues in OS X
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3147
Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.
Have a nice day,
Mario

I installed the new security update (2007-004 v1.1) which was supposed to fix airport cards from disconnecting from their wireless network after sleep...but it didn't fix the problem. Is anyone else STILL having trouble?

I was having the same problem with connectivity after sleep, but once I used the Security Update 2007-004 v1.1 I no longer that THAT problem, but now I have another,....
in MAIL, there is definitely a 'long' pause before graphics are displayed. Or while using Safari, the text for a new page will display fairly quickly, but again there is a 'long' pause before the graphics show up. I am comparing the time before the first 2007-004 update and now. Before, the graphics downloaded fairly quickly. In the MAIL program, just clicking on an email caused the graphics to appear, in fact, they were just THERE. But now, again there is that longish pause before they appear.
Has this happened to anyone else? And ideas what I can do?

I have a new Epson wireless printer connected and the iPad recognizes it but it still won't print.  What is AirPrint & how do I connect to it?

    Patti-
Is your Epson printer on Apple's list of AirPrint capable printers?  See <http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356>.
If it is an AirPrint printer, then your WiFi router may not correctly handle Bonjour data required by AirPrint.  Contact the router's manufacturer to see if there is a change to its setup or a firmware update, that will make it work.
One other possibility is that there could be a print job stuck in the iPad's print queue.  Double click the iPad's Home button and a row of recent Apps will appear along the bottom of the screen.  Scroll across and see if the Print Center is there.

WHAT TYPE OF PRINTER DO YOU HAVE????
Try doing the "wireless setup wizard"

  • Possible fix for OS X 10.5.7,  losing connection after sleep, restart

Possible fix for OS X 10.5.7, Airport, losing connection after sleep, restart, or cold reboot.
Issue: (For OS X 10.5.7 on iMac5,1, Intel Core 2 Duo)
    =============================================
    - After sleep, restart, cold reboot, even though cannot connect to Internet, but the AirPort bars are still full, as if connected.
    - Losing Internet connection after sleep, restart, cold reboot.
    Possible Fix:
1.Open Network Preference, click on the Location drop down list > Edit Location... > click on the wheel button > Duplicate Location.
a)Select this newly setup location; Use Diagnostic button to connect to the internet. Select Network or enter WEP password if necessary.
b)Test to make sure you can connect to a web page.
c)Go to sleep & wake up.
d)This time, the Airport bar will start to show correctly. Before, it will always be full even when not connected. Now there will be no bars or grey out when not connected.
2.On the left hand side of the Network Preference Window, there is a list of services, such as Airport, build-in ethernet, built-in FireWire, bluetooth, etc.
a)Click on the wheel button on the bottom of the service list; select Set Service Order...; move Airport to the top of the list.
b)Delete any services which you are sure that you are not going to use, such as Bluetooth, etc.
3.Pick one of the locations mentioned in #1, and make it sure it is connected. If not, use Diagnostic button. If you have to select Network or enter WEP password to connect, make it so.
a)Check to make sure you can connect to a web page.
4.Go to sleep & wake up. The Airport bar should be filled up quickly. Try to connect to a web page.
5.Restart computer. Test a web page.
6.Shut down & Start computer. Test a web page.
7.When everything is working fine, you can delete the extra location that you created in step #1.
8.Click the lock on the left lower corner of the Network Preference window to safeguard the setting.

If my assessment is correct, the LIDE 200 driver is version 14.8.1 and dated 26-Sep-2008. It is possible that the driver will not work with the latest version of OSX. I would advise that you contact Canon and ask them the question.
(Removed link because of the way Flash drives the Canon site).
It is not uncommon (though irritating) that devices no longer work when an OS is upgraded. One has to ask the question if (or why) the driver was not written in such a way as to be OS version independent.
    Chris
I spoke to Canon over here in Australia. Not helpful at all. In fact they were about as useful as an ashtray on on motorcycle. Having said that the tech seemed to think that there would be an update soon. But that is assuming that Canon are aware that there is a problem with that Scanner under OS X 10.5.7.

  • Skype 7.6 (409) Cant connect after sleep/lid-close...

Skype cannot connect after sleep or after I've closed the lid of the computer. I've tested this out and it sometimes opens up the main skype chat window however I am offline and cannot go online.
    I've tried several methods;
    - deleting $TMPDIR/Skype directory
    - deleting my username folder from ~/Library/Application Support/Skype
    - deleting ~/Library/Application Support/Skype/shared.xml
    - Re-installing skype
The only solution seems to be restarting my computer so I can relogin with skype. However this is not an acceptable solution.

I couldn't find the edit button . I've succesfully found the problem causing it. However since I can't debug the skype app I am unable to find a solution as of yet.
My culprit was vagrant. Everytime I boot up a vagrant instance of a vm (which is whenever I turn on my computer) I get dropped out of skype. I've tested this as far as starting a vagrant during a skype call. The call doesnt drop (it kinda stutters) but I am logged out of skype immediately.
    The things vagrant does are logged here;

I suspect there is a port misalignment, however the ports I've specified should not conflict with skype afaik.

  • Problems auto-connecting after sleep & startup (Changed from WPA to WEP)

Okay, I know there have been several issues similar to this, but after two days of sifting through posts, I still can't resolve this.
A few days ago I switched my AirPort network security from WPA to WEP-128. This was required to allow my Nintendo DS to connect to the netwrok, by the way. After the change, two similar, but slightly different problems started:
My 15" PowerBook G4 no longer auto-connects to the network at startup. The network is listed in the drop-down, and connects with no problem when I choose it manually. The computer seems to have no problem re-connecting after waking from sleep, which is odd because...
My other PowerBook, a 12" G4, won't auto-connect at startup AND won't re-connect after sleep. As above, it has no problem connecting using the Keychain once the network is selected from the drop-down.
So far I have tried, on both machines:
    - trashing the system airport prefs
    - deleting and resetting the network's keychain entry
    - repairing the keychain (no errors found)
    - turning off some unneeded power mgt options
    - disconnecting USB peripherals
I have also reloaded the software on both my AirPort Extreme base and my AirPort Express hub, as well as restarting both hubs. I've also made sure that AirPort is at the top of the network connection list.
Both laptops are running 10.4.3 and have all the latest software updates installed.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks.

Both of these replies are helpful, in that they help confirm something I figured out this morning, almost accidentally.
One thing I didn't mention was that during the change from WPA to WEP I changed the network password. Now, I assumed that since the Keychain seemed to be working and I could get on the network manually without needing to enter the password each time, that meant the new password had correctly propagated throughout the system.
So, this morning I go into the Network settings, switch from Automatic to Preferred, select my network, look at the properties, and notice that somehow it has way too many bullets for that to be the correct password. I re-entered the password and that seems to have solved the problem. The new password I had entered somehow didn't make it into this setting. I guess trashing the network prefs, or renaming the network would have had the same effect.

  • Can you print from an iPad to non wireless printer connected to timecapsule

I just purchase an iPad. Can I print to non wireless printer connected to timecapsule? If yes, what app do I need for the iPad?

You might want to take a look at Print Central or Printopia.

I can verify that Printopia works just fine for me on my iPad, but haven't tried Print Central.

  • Wireless: re-connect after failure...

    Hi,
I have a Mac Mini Server...
Whenever it looses wireless connectivity (power outage, I reload the AP and so on) the server does not re-connect to the wireless network again by itself. I also have a MacBook 5.1 unibody (1st ed) that does re-connect by itself when the wireless is up again.
    Can I change this behaviour?
    Anyone experience the same issue?
NOTE! I can reboot the server and then it picks up the wireless network again. The main issue is, that it does not automatically re-connect when it detects the wireless network is available again - like my macbook does.
    Thanks.
    /JZ

    Hello,
I have been having a large amount of problems on my MacBook (Tiger) when trying to re-connect to wifi after sleep (lid and button), to the point where using prefs>network, I couldn't even connect. I could sometimes get it to reconnect with a full reboot but the was intermittent - my issue was predominately on N (which I use a lot) although G was very flaky with a lot of connection dropping also.
Have tried everything, went to the Mac Store and had a new logic board and Wifi card
Upon returning from the MacStore the sleep issue was still a problem and having read this post, I played around with my bluetooth and found that after sleep it started to reconnect again intermittently in either Off, On (not discoverable) and On (Discoverable). I then by chance realised my wireless keyboard was in the cupboard close by. I turned it off and reconnected it and it seems to have cured my problem. I have yet to try with keyboard on but in the past when it has been in permanent use I have never had an issue. So try resetting your bluetooth and your mice and keyboard and doing a full reconnect.

  • WLan fails to connect after sleep mode - Satellite T110-10x

    Hi,
    Everything works fine, wireless connected.
After sleep mode - it fails to connect although it detects my wireless network.
I've tried the latest Realtek driver, still no good.
I've verified that my setup is not to turn down wireless in the power options.
    Any idea?

    Hi
Where did you find the latest WLan driver?
Here on this Toshiba driver page you can find the latest Wlan driver:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/
I recommend uninstalling firstly the old driver and then to install the newer version.
Furthermore its necessary to update the BIOS. I read in the forum that similar issues could be solved by BIOS update.

  • T440s in Windows 7 Pro loses Wifi connection after sleep 7260AC

    Hi guys,
I keep having issues waking up from sleep with my T440s.  It WILL NOT connect to wifi and the wireless adapter under windows adapter settings disappears.  Only thing that fixes this is a reboot.  I have removed "allow windows to turn this device off" under wireless settings.
    Driver: 17.12.0.4
    Dated: 28/08/2014
    Software: Lenovo Access Connections
I do not use windows to connect to WIFI.  I have dedicated profiles for each of my wifi networks at home and work.
This is a serious productivity killer.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This is a well-known issue with the AC card.  Go take a look at the Intel forum.
You don't necessarily have to reboot to get the card back.  Right click it in Device Manager and then disable/enable.  It will come back online.
Some tips that have worked for many:
-DO enable the power saving setting.  If I disable it on my T440p, the card is offline upon wakeup.
-Ditch ProSet and let Windows manage your wifi.  Profiles might be convenient, but...
-Ad Hoc QoS - WMM enabled.  Enable it on your router(s), too.
    -Ht Mode - VHT
-U-APSD support - this one can go either way.  Some leave it on and don't have an issue.  Some have to disable it to have the card work after sleep.  You have to play with it.
And, I really believe that the router/modem type can make a difference, too.  Some just don't work right with this card no matter what you tweak on the card.  With this card, I think an AC router/modem is the way to go.
Another thing is the driver itself.  I had wake issues when I first got this ThinkPad about 10 months ago.  Then, Intel released v 16.6 and that one fixed it.  I've tried all of the 17s released since and all of them caused sporadic failures to wake.  So, I have always rolled back to 16.6 and it always wakes.
Note this:  If you use Lenovo Update, it won't create a restore point in Windows so your "Roll Back Driver" button might be greyed out in DM.  Always manually create a restore point before you update a driver.  And, if it's working, whatever it is, leave it alone.  If the release notes don't address an issue you're having, skip it.
Driver updating is way oversold here and elsewhere.  If you're determined to update anyway, at least don't be an early adopter.  Let other peeps do it first and then come back here and see about the complaints!  Also, you can download the driver at Intel in their Administrators sets of drivers.  Bare drivers and no software overhead.
    Good luck.

  • Mac loses wi-fi connection after sleep

Since I upgraded to Mountain Lion, every time I wake my Macbook from sleep, I have to manually reconnect with my wi-fi router, and sometimes it takes upwards of a minute before Airport even senses the various routers within range, includng mine. Before upgrading, when I woke it up, the connection was just there, instantly, for all intents and purposes.
What's up? Is there a setting that I need to adjust?

The loss of connection to wifi after sleep is nothing to do with the TC at a guess.. but typical issue with sleep and wireless.
See the methods of repair for this that Tesserax has prepared.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3411
I presume the upgrade was to Mavericks.. it does have some network issues.
I would certainly use all SMB naming. Mavericks now uses SMB network protocol by default.
So SMB names are not like apple names.
They are short.. keep to less than 20 characters.. less than 10 even better.
    No spaces and pure alphanumeric.
Use only WPA2 Personal security with a 10-20 character purely alphanumeric password.
Finally it can be worthwhile using fixed wireless channels.. test say 11, 6, 1 or whatever you have available in Russia. Same on 5ghz use whatever channels are available but try a low one if possible.. eg 40 and a high one like 149.
I strongly recommend you setup the TC this way.. and use separate names for 2.4 and 5ghz at least until you get it sorted.
    eg.. TC name.. TC
    2.4ghz name.. TC24ghz
    5ghz name.. TC5ghz
Then as per Tesserax, clear out all the old names. So you have a clean slate and only use the TC on one band.. try each and see if it is reliable.

  • No wifi re-connect after sleep - It's caused by Bluetooth!
