I lost a collection during a backup

I have Lightroom 4.4 and I lost a collection.  I started to export the collection and cancelled it as soon as it started.  I then decided to remove a couple of the images from that collection and it was non-responsive.  I then decided to quit Lightroom and backup. The backup started and I waited 10 minutes for a progress bar to appear but it did not.  I went to the force quit window to see if Lightroom was still working on the backup and it said Application not responding so I said okay to force quit and now I've lost just the one collection in which I have edited images.  All the images were edited as a copy with Lightroom adjustments in Photoshop.  I don't mind rebuilding the collection, but I need those files.

Have you tried Spotlight?  If no success, download Easy Find and see if that helps:

If you don't have a backup then the only possible solution is to go back to the store and see if they can get your old phone and create a backup of that. I know very often that Apple employees will wipe the returned iPhones clean before shipping them back to wherever they ship them.
When you say your old phone was "broken" does this mean it is dead and won't turn on?
Do you have a Time Machine backup of your computer, or a clone that might have this info on it?
Other than that I hate to say you may be out of luck. Time Machine and/or a cloning program performed regularily will inevitably save your a** in situations like this.
    Good luck

  • How can I retrieve pictures, lost from my iphone during a backup?

How can I retrieve pictures, lost from my iphone during a backup?

The photos could have gone a couple of different places ...but it is unlikely that they are lost forever.  It kind of depends how your Backup was done.  With many Computer-based iTunes connections, your Computer Photo App will actually open first when you connect your iPhone and the photo transfer will happen between the iPhone and the App.  Assuming that isn't what happened in your case, but you did Backup on iTunes, you could reconnect to iTunes and then click on your iPhone button on the Computer screen ...typically the iTunes Summary screen will show up ...but you can tab-through the various iTunes Screens and find the Photo page.  You could check your options and see if you have a Manual Sync setting regarding iTunes to iPhoone ...this would mean you have to select the Photos you want to download to the iPhone during the Sync.

  • I lost all calendar events and contacts during iTunes backup

i lost all calendar events and contacts during iTunes backup
I think my wife had an old apple ID on the phone and never backs up her device. She lost all contacts and calendar events. any help?

It would default to whatever account you have set for default. If you were using Exchange, it would sync to that. However, the settings for syncing are set up in iTunes. You would need to check to see what settings were in iTunes for syncing the information. It could be a supported application on the computer, or a cloud service as I said earlier.
On my personal phone, it will default to my iPhone calendar which I sync with Outlook on my computer. I can select the Exchange account if I want, but my default is what I sync with Outlook.

  • LOST MY CONTACT DURING SOFTWARE UPDATE

I LOST MY CONTACTS DURING SOFTWARE UPDATE A WEEK AGO , TRIED TO RESTORE FROM MY LAST BACK UP HELD ON MAY 16, BUT FAILED , AM EVEN SURE I'V SELECTED ALL DATA BACKUP FOR ANY OF MY PREVIOUS BACKUP , TRIED TO RESTORE FROM ANY BUT FAILED , TRIED THE GMAIL CONTACTS ALSO FAILED , WONDERING WHERE MY CONTACTS I'VE SAVED FOR MORE THEN 10 YEARS ARE GONE ....AM TOTTALY DISSAPOINTED SINCE AM A BLACKBERRY USER SINCE 5 YEARS ,  ALWAYS SUPPORTED  BLACKBERRY AGAINST IPHONE USERS , ALL MY FREINDS ARE NO MORE USING BLACKBERRY AND SWITCHED TO IPHONE OR SAMSUNG , AM HAVING AN EMPTY BBM LIST NOW , BUT  STILL SUPPORTING AND EVEN BOUGHT THE Z10 FIRST WEEK OF RELEASE , I WOULD UNDERSTAND THAT A TECHNICAL PROBLEM HAPPENED DURING THE SOFTWARE UPDATE , BUT CANT UNDERSTAND THE USELESS BACK UP I'VE ALWAYS DOING ! AND THE WORSE IS THAT LAST SOFTWARE UPDATE TURNED THE Z10 TO A WORSE MOBILE.

    Hum, it is worrying...
So... your contacts seem to be on:
    Gmail,
    your previous backups.
    -Solutions:
if all your contacts are on Gmail: copy them manually on your device,
they are a priori all in your backups: wait that Link won't be in Beta anymore, and then restore.
    P.S.:
You make backups and don't register your contacts on SIM, is it possible ? Personally, I rarely register contacts on SIM. If there is a malware, it can be charged from the SIM to the Phone, this is why.

  • Recovering Lost iPhone Data After Failed Backup

So my mother is somewhat technically challenged and has never backed up her iphone before.. Basically I told her to do so and get the newest software update but I think an error occurred during the backup procedure and she continued with the update/restore anyways. So she lost all of her data and is very sad . Is there any possible way to find the data either on the restored empty phone, or on the computer from the failed backup (maybe it made a corrupted file that we can fix?)
    Please help!
    Thanks!

No, sorry.  Without a backup it is gone.  Did you backup to iCloud by chance?

They may have a do-it-yourself troubleshoot system but that doesnt help my problem at all.

  • IPhone locks up during the backup stage of syncing

Something from my MacBook Pro is not allowing my iPhone to backup properly during a "Sync"!
I'm on my 3rd iPhone and the same problem keeps cropping up. I sync my contacts, calendars, bookmarks, email accounts and photos and it all goes fine. However, If I disconnect the iPhone after the initial sync and reconnect it, the iPhone will FREEZE/Lockup during the Backup phase of any subsequent sync. I have two iPhones one for personal and one for work. I hadn't sync'd the work one for a while and just tried it (it was still on 1.1.1, which I left it at) and the same thing happened. Now the work iPhone won't backup either without Freezing. If I just plug in my iPhone and have auto syncing disabled. I can make a change to one of my settings for example uncheck or recheck a calendar and the sync goes fine when I click the Apply button. However, if I click the Sync button (which does a backup first), the iPhone will freeze every time.
I have tried a restore (more than once and setup as a new phone) and all is fine until I put my data back on. What could be in my contacts, photos, calendars, email accounts or bookmarks that could be causing this? Other than freezing during backup, everything else works. I also sync my media (music, videos, ringtones, podcasts) with an iMac G5 and it won't backup the iPhone either. The problem happens after a restore/setup as new and first sync even before I put media back on the iPhone from the iMac, so it's not the media. It's something from my MacBook Pro that's going onto the iPhone and not being able to be read back in during the Backup.
    My setup is a MacBook Pro 15" 2.33GHz, Mac OS X 10.5.1, iTunes 7.6
    iPhone 1.1.3 AND iPhone 1.1.1
IPhone connected directly to the USB 2 port on the MBP AND directly to the USB port on the iMac G5 (different cables). No hubs.
    985 contacts
    4 email accounts (all IMAP)
    687 photos
    countless bookmarks

Try restoring one of the iphones on you imac.
Once the iphone is restored and shows back up in itunes, do not restore from back up.
This would put any corrupt data back on the iphone.
Set the iphone up as a new iphone, but do not allow to auto sync everything.
First set iphone to only sync music and sync it a few times to see if issue persists.
If issue does not persist, move to videos and do the same thing.
Keep moving through the content that you like to sync on your imac, one group at a time to see if the back-up issue reoccurs.
If the iphone backs up and syncs fine on the imac, now move to the macbook.
On the macbook, try syncing contacts first.
Try syncing a few times to see if backup issue reoccurs.
If everything goes fine with contacts, move to bookmarks then to email.
    Leave calendars to the last.
If bookmarks and email sync fine then start syncing calendars, but do not sync all calendars.
Start with just one calendar and keep adding another one until the issue reoccurs.
Once the issue reoccurs, you know that the last thing you synced with is causing the issue.
The issue might not be with just one item, so if it happens, un sync the last item and skip over to see if the issue occurs again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is there a way to improve computer performance during TM backup?

I have a MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2GB of RAM running 10.5.7 and every time Time Machine starts a backup (about once an hour) my computer becomes unresponsive. I can't type, copy, paste, switch applications without a huge hang up. For example, it took me a total of 7 minutes to get to this thread because Time Machine started a backup and I was stuck in the Finder trying to switch to Safari. Once Safari finally showed up, I got a beach ball.
When TM isn't running, my computer is restored to a responsive state.
I love using Time Machine, because it's a great way to backup everything. Short of turning it off, is there anything else I can do to prevent my computer from going in to lockdown once an hour?
I'm backing up wirelessly to a MyBook USB drive btw.

Just an update to those who may stumble across this thread.
This issue has not been solved. In fact, I could say it's gotten much much worse. It seems that I can't type, copy/paste or perform even the most basic of tasks while a backup is in progress.
I've downloaded the Time Machine Backup Widget, and it shows a few oddities that may/may not be significant. On one particular day the log shows a request for 1.3GB and then for the next backup (1 hour later) a request for another 2GB in size. Each of the hourly backups seemed to be of similar size requests for that day. What's unusual is that for that particular day, I wasn't really working on anything of significant size at all. I'm a web developer, so I may modify a 1MB file throughout the day, for several hours, but I'm no where near generating modifications that would equate to 8GB a day. My first thought was that Time Machine might be swapping out a weekly/monthly backup at that time - but then the same requests seem to be coming the following three days. Does it take Time Machine that long to perform a weekly backup?
At Time Machine's current rate, my hard drive is filling up pretty fast. To the tune of 8GB a day. The logs seem to also indicate that Time Machine is only copying 2.1MB a day. Again, that falls in line with what I would expect with my activity, but the hard drive seems to be dedicating the "requested" rather than the (smaller) copied amount indicated in the log files.
Backup frequency also seems to be higher than normal on some days. Today, for example, Time Machine has been backing up about once every 20 minutes or so. Right now, I'm on a backup, at various times my typing has been affected and according to the backup status it has been backing up 2.4MB of 2.5MB for the past 22 minutes. It just barely finishes and then it starts right back up again.
I've kept Activity monitor running for the past couple of weeks and as suspected, my CPU reaches maximum capacity and my disk activity goes through the roof during a backup. My external wireless mouse and anything connected to my computer seems to become unresponsive. The trackpad and keyboard go next. Then - typically - I see the beach ball and I know I'm up for an unscheduled computer break. This is most annoying when I'm trying to type an email and a backup kicks in just before I have a chance to click send. One time it took me 10 minutes for my click to be recognized and an email could be queued to send. It took another 3 full minutes for the email to actually go out.
For me, backups are essential. I have resisted turning this feature off, simply because I spent so much money to get it all to work (upgraded OS, purchased a new router and a new backup HD).
I hope Apple releases more control over the backup features and the backup frequency. I'd love to see an option to have backups happen only when CPU cycles are at idle for a few minutes, which would indicate that the user isn't on the computer. Or perhaps give users the ability to set a less aggressive backup schedule, perhaps every four hours or so, rather than the aggressive hourly backups I'm stuck with now.
Time Machine's current status: "finishing backup." has been it's status for at least 10 minutes, that combined with the outlandish 45 minute time it took to copy 2.5MB of data means I have just 5 minutes before my next backup is scheduled to start. There has to be a better way.

  • Help.......I moved my LR5 catalog to a new hard drive and lost my COLLECTIONS

I moved my LR5 catalog to a new hard drive and lost my COLLECTIONS.  In the collections i get the messageI then locate the file in the new drive :
i locate the file and receive this message
How can i get the Collection to redirect to the new location??   I have about  a LOT of missing pics in Collections.
    Thank you!  Jamie

    Thank your for responding.......
To clarify....I moved LIGHTROOM to a new hard drive....including 1) Working catalogs, 2) Working exports, and 3) Working Originals.  I now know i did not follow correct procedure for "moving a catalog".  I dragged  it to the new hard drive. Yikes!!
(I was at Imaging last week and spoke to Julianne Kost, she recommended that i use the FIND link....but this gave me the same result as i am speaking about above.)
To Clarify......The Collections are listed. The target path to the images did not change when i moved to the new hard drive.
There is an exclamation point in the right hand corner of the images in each collection.  When i click on the exclamation mark i get the message....."“JK_120214_7782.NEF” could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"  I then locate the file IN THE NEW current DRIVE...at which time i click on it and i receive the message.....
this file is associated with another photo in the catalog.... each file can only be associated with one photo.  Then if i choose to show in library....it points to the image in the FOLDER  tab...which is in fact where the image is located.
Up to this point, when i need one of these older collections i have had to recreate.  i have manually gone to the original.....in the FOLDER tab, found the image and added to the Collections again.  Then i go back and delete all the files with the ! ......a long and tedious task.  I was hoping there was an easier way to recreate my "collections".
Initially i was going to just MOVE the entire library again ( the correct way) ....which i should've done i believe.  Now i have imported more jobs and have created additional collections , so i'd love to find a short cut!
I hope this is a bit more clear!!
    Thank you.

  • IMac freezes during TC backup

Since a few days my iMac (newest version running Mountain Lion) freezes during TC backups. Since TC is set to backup every hour my computer freezes every hour - the MAC wheel pops up and keeps spinning.
Once I abort the TC backup it takes about half a minute for iMac to become responsive again.
Is there a solution for this problem - of course besides turning off TC and TM.
    Thanks

The episode below started at 06.20.32 (it began when TC started backingup). I tried closing an application and launching Console - without success.
At 06.23.11 I tried stopping the backup and shutting down TC (I think it shows first at 06.23.15).
At 06.23.41 my iMac was responsive again.
The info below only covers 06.23.04 till 06.23.45 (it seems way too much data and I don't know what's useful and what isn't).
    Thanks

  • What to do if there is abrupt termination of RMAN during a backup session

    Hi All,
I am trying to automate the Level 0 and Level 1 backups which we ought to take. Following the is the RMAN related part of it for L1 backup:
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;"
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '${BKP_LOCATION}/${LType}_%F';"
    run {"
    allocate channel c1 type disk;"
    backup"
    incremental level 1 cumulative tag = $BTAG"
    format '${BKP_LOCATION}/${LType}_%d_set%s_piece%p_%T_%U.bkp'"
(database include current controlfile tag $CTAG) ;"
sql 'alter system archive log current';"
sql 'alter system archive log current';"
backup archivelog from sequence ${CSEQ} tag $ATAG"
    format '${BKP_LOCATION}/${LType}_Arch_%d_set%s_piece%p_%T_%U.bkp';"
    release channel c1;"
    exit;"
In the above snippet, the variables are substituted for within a shell script and then put into a command file for RMAN. I am a novice in the backup and recovery. I got above piece of code from someone working on RMAN and built my automation logic around it.
The script works fine and I am trying to build to script level recovery feature around it. My question is:
-- What happens if I invoke the script, the backup session starts and then there is abrupt termination of the RMAN session either because of losing the db connection or receiving an interrupt signal or a kill signal or some other weird reason.
-- What if I re-invoke my script? Will it start from the point where it was stopped earlier or would it start from the point where we had last successful Level 1 backup completed?
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi user781131,
What happens if I invoke the script, the backup session starts and then there is abrupt termination of the RMAN session either because of losing the db
connection or receiving an interrupt signal or a kill signal or some other weird reason? The backup set which rman was creating is not commited due to the abnormal termination but all succesfull backup sets can be used.
What if I re-invoke my script? Will it start from the point where it was stopped earlier or would it start from the point where we had last successful Level 1 backup
completed? In your backup script you do not use the < NOT BACKED UP SINCE TIME > clause so it will again do a level 1 backup off all datafiles.
    See:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14194/rcmsynta009.htm#i1017236
This option is a convenient way to back up files that were not backed up during a previous failed backup. For example, you back up the database, but the instance fails halfway through. You can restart the backup with the NOT BACKED UP SINCE TIME clause and avoid backing up those files that you already backed up. If AS BACKUPSET is set, then this feature is only useful if RMAN generates multiple backup sets during the backup.
    Regards,
    Tycho

  • LR2 lost all Collections - help please

I've been working with the upgraded LR2 for a couple of days. Today I was working with Smart Collections, somehow managed to generate an error message (can't remember the wording, sorry), and now I have lost all Collections, both those that were brought across from LR1 and the new ones created today in LR2. The Collections tab is completely empty.
Restarted LR2 and tried to generate a new Smart Collection, with a title the same as that created before the error. LR2 tells me that the specified name is already in use, so I presume the Collections are on my hard drive somewhere. I'm just searching now for .lrsmcoll
Is it possible to import previously created Collections, and if so how? I backed up the catalogue this morning - hopefully that has saved me a lot of work :)
    Many thanks for any help
    Mike

Update: My problem seems to have been self-caused. About the same time I started using LR2 I bought a new hard drive and moved all my pictures to it using a somewhat different directory structure. I was able to "teach" LR2 the new locations but the information in the collections was not updated. I still have the original drive and structure and if that's on-line, the collections work fine. I have found no-way to update the collections as to the new locations. Is there a way?

  • BR0313E Database instance VWQ started up during offline backup

    Hi,
For the last two weeks, we are getting errror message during offline backup BR0313E Database instance VWQ started up during offline backup, backup starts at 1600 & goes on smoothly till 2100, after that above erroor message comes & backup terminates.Earlier offline backup happens without errors.moreover we havn't made any change in any paraamter.
After this error SAP application throws error Connect to the default database is not there, due to which we need to restart the SAP Application.Online backups are getting completed successfully without any error, space in drives is also sufficient.
    Our landscape is:
    Databse:Oracle 10.2
    SAP : R/3 4.7 C
    OS: Windows
    Please suggest.
    Thanks
    joy garg

So is the database really started when you get that error message? Someone or something (a script?) may start the database.
