I lost a lot of my music from years ago

Years ago when I got my first apple product, an ipod touch I bought lots of music, even whole albums. recently, I have lost hundreds of dollars worth of music on my account and cant access the content anymore, despite some of it still showing up in my devices but it is inaccessible to me. I know apple or iTunes wont do anything about my problem but if there is a solution that I can do then I would like to know.

If you still have some of it on your devices then you  should be able to copy them back to your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.
Or you might (depending upon your country and if you've changed countries since buying them and if they are still in the store) be able to redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes.

    Update to iTunes 10.3.1
After you have finished, you can re download your iTunes purchases without having to re purchase.
    iTunes 10.3.1
" Download Previous Purchases. Download your past music purchases again at no additional cost. Your purchases are available in the iTunes Store on your Mac or in the iTunes app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they are no longer on the iTunes Store."
"Available on iTunes in the U.S. and Canada only. Title availability is subject to change."

i have 2 apple ids and one is from years ago when icloud wasnt a thought but now somehow it became my primary apple id and i cant photo stream with the apple id i use. Even if im signed into my old one the photo stream doesnt automatically go to my mac. Im not exactly technology savy but id love to figure this out.

I have also noticed the same "problem".  I do not fully understand the impact of using the same ID on multiple computers and devices if I want to keep them all in sync.

    this says it all..

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Contact Apple through iTunes Store Support, and explain that you have forgotten your 3 security questions, that you can reset your password, but doing so doesn't reset your security questions.
Remember, support will receive hundreds, if not thousands of requests per day, some from people trying it on, others with little explanation and others that are written extremely poorly. Take the time to explain your situation properly, be precise and concise, brief but comprehensive.

When I updraded my iphone to the io7 system, I lost almost half of my music library including purchases up to about $200. Is there any way I can recover any of these songs?

They should be on your computer.  Did you fail to transfer all purchases to your computer?

  • HT4914 Why has iTunes lost a lot of my music after cancelling iTunes Match?

    Hi
After cancelling my iTunes Match subscription I find a whole lot of my music has disapearred!
The songs have gone from the iTunes music folder and also from my original music folder where I had ripped all my music.
Why is this and is there any way to get my songs back?
Or do I have to rip all my CDs again?
    Thanks

  • In my iPhone 5s clock alarm sounds i have songs that i didn't sync to my iPhone but are purchased songs from years ago. if i accidentally select them it will end up on my phone in the music app. just annoying how.

so i tried to resotre my iphone from new such and such. but then i go to my clock and then alarm, sounbds pick a song. theres all these songs that i didnt sync from my mac. theyre songs from years and years ago, a few CPUs back, songs that i dont even have on my mac. anyways how do i get rid of them or change a setting as to not see them?

    Hi Gregg,
Have you tried resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if your Music app is behaving normally.
    Cheers,

  • I have an old Ipod which I loaded music many years ago. . .I no longer have the itunes which I originally loaded, however, I have a new itune account with songs loaded. . what will happen if I load these songs onto my ipod today?

I have an older ipod which many years ago I loaded my music from Itunes on another computer. . .that computer crashed. . .I now have a new Itunes account and music loaded on another computer. . I would like to add songs onto my ipod. . .can this be done?

Not without erasing what is currently on the iPod first, since an iPod can only be synced with one computer/iTunes library at a time.
A better way to go about it, is to copy everything currently on the iPod to your new iTunes library first.  Then connect it to iTunes and either choose the Erase and Sync option or restore the device to allow it to start syncing with the new library.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • Sent messages re-appearing from years ago.

Today I checked for something I sent over the weekend in my Sent items in the Mail client on my Mac, and discovered that a lot of emails I sent over a year ago (up to 3 years ago) have magically appeared in my sent mail as having been sent only a couple of days ago.
This means that if I look at 'today' I have about 50 sent messages, when in reality I have only sent about 15, the other 30 or so being made up from messages I sent on this day over the past 3 years.
Any ideas on how to fix?? I've tried re-building the mailbox with no luck.
    Thanks

  • Why has my iCloud id become my old email address from years ago. My apple id is my current one. How can I change my icloud one so it is the same?

My mum's iCloud username is coming up as her old email address frok years ago. She can't sign in as can't remember the password for it And has no access to the email address. I updated successfully her iTunes/Apple id years ago & is still up and running. How do I get rid of this iCloud id and make it her recent email. I'm confused why this has happened in the 1st place

With iOS 7 you will have to provide the password for the old ID in order to delete the existing account from your iPad.  If you can't do this, contact Apple for assistance by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click More Produces & Services>Apple ID>iTunes Store, App Store or Mac App Store>Disabled Apple ID.
As far as your missing contacts, when you get the password for the old ID reset, sign in with the ID and your new password at icloud.com and check to see if your contacts are there.  If they are, export them as a vCard as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3606.  You can then import this vCard to your new account as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3605.

  • External Hard Drive Full, how do I delete back ups from years ago?

I have a LaCie 500GB external hard drive. I bought it to store my iTunes library on it, then when Time Machine came out a few years ago, I began backing up using Time Machine onto the same drive. Now the drive is about full, but it is mostly full from backups. How do I delete older back ups that are from almost 3 years ago? I can seem to go in there and do anything. I need more room for my iTunes library.
I also recently bough a portable G-Drive 500 GB hard drive for my photos. So I was thinking I'll just change my Time Machine backup to that. Or just transfer my iTunes to that one so I can carry it on the road. But that'll take awhile I know, and the connection is not as fast, as its only USB whereas my LaCie is an F-400 connection.
    Thanks

I take it everything is in the same partition? If so, that's (obviously) a problem. Ordinarily, you'd just let Time Machine handle it -- it will delete the oldest backup(s) when it needs room for new ones.
You can do this manually, though. See #12 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).

That would be an excellent idea. In addition to not having to manually delete old backups, you can let Time Machine back up the other disk, as well as your internal HD. Be sure to format it +Mac OS Extended (Journalled).+

  • Emails weirdly attaching older emails from years ago?

    Hi all,
I recently used the Migration Assistant from an old G5 Mac across to a shiny new iMac. Quite a jump, from a product discontinued 6 years ago running Leopard to  Intel Chips running Mountain Lion.
Migration Assistant didn't bring all my email boxes across, or any history of the older emails. My wife copied the Mail folder across from the latest version of the time machine backup and all my old Mailboxes (archives) appeared under "On my Mac".
But now every time she sends me an invoice that is also CC'd to a client of ours, the email randomly picks a bunch of old emails with invoices and attaches them below. These can come from years back! What is happening? It's driving me a little nuts, and almost makes me want to switch to Thunderbird. (My mail has always been twitchy, even back on the G5, and so I'm wondering if this is one of those instances where I might need to consider migrating to other software for a while, and then one day migrating back again, just to get rid of the bugs!)

    OK, now that's embarrasssing!
I'll try it out when I get home. Cheers!
