I lost all email 6months and older in mac mail. Need Serious Help!

I lost all email 6 months and older in mac mail. In my in-box as a well as all other folders I created. I expected that the mac email software would keep all email as it did for me in when I used to use Outlook. As well I thought I was covered with the Time Machine I have installed. Well.....The Time Machine that I was aggressively encouraged to buy apparently doesn't back up email. If it does, I must need some secret decoder ring to unlock where it is. I need serious help. I lost months of professional and personal data. I need to fix this immediately and find some way to get my email back. Please help.

In March when I upgraded to Lion and iCloud I also experienced a similar problem (cluster of problems) which was solved by a password reset (conforming to new requirements) for my Apple ID. I'm glad to see that many nice people contributed and your primary problem is fixed.  My comment is on your Quicken problem.
Your data inside Quicken 2004 is on borrowed time.  In the process of researching personal budgeting apps I found many reports on the web that indicate Intuit as a company is scaling down Quicken (desktop) development and its future attention to the Mac platform will be minimal.
Did you know that Intuit is behind Mint.com?  You may be hesitant to put your financial data "in the cloud" and I may be being sheepish, but.. bbaaaa, bbaaaaa, the cloud is where it's going.  I know first-hand want a pain in the arse it is to customize an app to your liking.  I spent several hours on Mint.com setting up categories and tagging transactions.  It's tedious. I didn't look because I wasn't a Quicken user, but perhaps Intuit was nice enough to provide a data conversion path for Mint.com.  It is worth a look.
My second suggestion is to scour the web for a hack solution.  You can't be the only person who is facing this problem.  Quicken was very popular.  I just bet someone has posted directions or some code for exporting the Quicken 2004 data and manipulating it for something else.
Good Luck.

  • Extracting all email addresses from On My Mac Mail

    hi all.
trying to do a final organization here after porting to mac OS.
i am trying to extract all emails from my archived mail in the "On My Mac" section of my mac pro. this means that this data will no longer be accessible from my laptop machine or from my iPhone when traveling. in a lot of cases there will be incoming mail from recipients whom i /may/ not have replied to or whom i did not reply to within Mac Mail (i am coming from PC land and i have used Postbaox before ditching this software awhile back).
i realize that i have the opportunity to ADD emails from the Previous Recipients section of my Mac Pro and from my MacBookPro - however in the case of mail that i am archiving on the Mac Pro this option is not available.
can anyone help me get from here to there (having some kind of list of my important email addresses) so that i can go through this list and either keep it on hand or add the important ones manually to my Contacts? i would say that alternatively i would be happy to bulk add these to the Previous Recipients list on my Mac Pro but this data is already somewhat out of hand and the fact that it resides only on my desktop until i add the addresses to Mac Contacts (as does the Previous Recipients List on my MacBook Pro and presumably on my IPhone).
i ran a google search and came up with the following links which i am going to print out and try and muddle through so any advice on this would be really welcome.
    THANKS

If you are lucky, you might be able to restore individual messages. To do it, open Mail and then, open the Time Machine application (in /Applications/Utilities). Then, choose the backup you want at the right and you will be able to select messages and restore them.
After restoring them, they will appear in "Recovered Messages" in the Mail sidebar, under "On my Mac"

  • What is the best way to transfer my Yahoo mail account email, email folders and contacts to Mac Mail?

A new version of Yahoo Mail has unexpectedly been dumped on long time users a few days ago, leaving many of us with functions that no longer work and are unstable. There was no announcement of a Beta or a possibility of retaining the old Yahoo Mail. It was like "Here it is, like it or not. We don't care."
My son said "Why don't you use another email client?". I thought of Mac Mail immediately. I have found a lot of instructions as to how to move my Yahoo mail components, and they sound pretty easy, but what I haven't found is what happens to my Inbox email, my archived email and my contacts. Do I have to move all those components to Mac Mail manually, and if so, will they now reside on my hard drive? Maybe I'm getting in over my head here. Some of the instructions say all I need is just my Full Name, Email address and Password. I guess I'm a cynic. It just sounds too good to be true. What happens to the stuff that was on Yahoo?
I have a couple of other reputable email accounts, but I would have to go through all my friends and businesses and inform them of the changed email addy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've never bothered w/Yahoo Mail latest upgrades or updates.
You can switch back to the old version of Yahoo Mail by going into your Yahoo Preferences and/or check the top right hand corner of its website.

  • I have lost all my pics and NOT my fault. Can anyone help?

So. I clicked ok to do an update - after 2 mins my phone went off. I left it for a while and assumed it could be part of the update.
The phone was off all night.
In the morning i tried MANY times to get it on. It was fully charged too.
The only option it seems was restore. I was pleased when my phone came on eventually and looked forward into Syncing it to get all my stuff back.
I eventually got my contacts and music. But lost every photo and video taken. There is nothing in my itunes which confused me.
    I had many many photos.
Has anyone got any idea what i can do to get these pics back?

Just log on to your iCloud account using a computer .iCloud.com

  • 10.7.4 update has duplicated mailboxes & rebuild has lost all emails

Two of my six mailboxes were duplicated after the update, so I deleted the duplicates in mail preferences.
However, the original mailboxes then lost all email content and showed only the headers, so I rebuilt them both and hey presto - instantly lost the entire contents of both mailboxes, including headers. Not happy .
Any ideas for recovering? Have tried hosting server but emails have also gone from there.

ACT FAST: call your email host and see if they have weekly/etc. backups of your data. If it's a small web/email hosting company they should do this.

  • Exchange synced and lost all email on MacBook (mail 4.6)

Our company internal server died on Tuesday, internal web mail (exchange) / was a full loss.
I still had all emails and folders on my MacBook & iPad.
We switched to web hosted exchange Friday. Set up the new account to export all emails from MacBook but exchange synced first,I lost all emails & folders etc. (I have a complete set on my iPad still though)
I understand that imap & pop are saved to mail but exchange emails and folders are not. (unless you create a new mailbox, select all, copy and export to a file)
I changed my default mail account to gmail on Tuesday to continue working & I tried to forward exchange emails from my iPad using my gmail account as the default but it sits in the outbox.
I tried to backup with time machine last week but my external is almost full & it won't overwrite.
    Question:
Are the emails still on my MacBook somewhere? Snow leopard 10.6.8
can i recover the lost emails and folders somehow? (mail 4.6)
or export from iPad to the MacBook or exchange? (Without losing them also.)
    Any help would greatly appreciated.

Are the emails still on my MacBook somewhere?
If the mail is still on your computer it would be in your user Library/Mail - your mailboxes are in that folder.
can i recover the lost emails and folders somehow?
Do you have a backup you can restore from?

Does any one know it can I rest my password

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • I'm really disappointed with new 5 update.  No music, No photos, No videos, lost all emails.  Anyone know how to get these all back?  Yes, I have synced and synced and synced.  Help

I'm really disappointed with new 5 update.  No music, No photos, No videos, lost all emails.  Anyone know how to get these all back?  Yes, I have synced and synced and synced.  Help

Hopefully it isn't too late for this but:  before performing an update it is really best if you close all apps (double click the home button, click and hold on one of the apps that appears at the bottom of the phone until the red minus sign appears and then tap the minus sign until all apps are closed) and then turn the phone off by holding the standby button until the slider saying "slide to power off" appears and slide it to turn the phone off.  Then turn the phone back on and hook it up to your computer to sync and perform the upgrade.  This also helps if you do this before performing syncs too.  I had problems with an iPod previously where it would fail to backup before sync most times, but have never had a problem with updates or syncs since I started performing this procedure.  Unfortunately, your pre-update backup may have failed and the data in your apps might be gone, but you could try to restore your phone.  If I remember correctly how to do this, you connect it to your computer and check for updates.  It should say you're up to date, but have an option to restore the phone.  If it does, I'd try that.  It may also have a "restore from backup" option you could try.

  • HT201415 lost all my contacts and email

    Hi There ,
Lost all my contacts and emails just want to restore back!
    thank you
    josefa

If you had never synced it before, you may have the options for "Sync Address Book Contacts" selected and not have your contacts in your address book on your computer. Hopefully you have a backup of your contacts somewhere that you can restore to (iCloud Maybe?). BTW, if you plug in your iPhone to your computer, open iTunes and click your phone. (Whatever you named it) You can click the second option name "Info" and see your options for contacts calendars, etc..

  • I updated my iPhone and lost all photos, videos and e-mail accounts. How do I get them back?

I updated my iPhone yesterday (simply to get rid of the reminder that was bugging me).  The last time I updated the phone everything went fine, my settings, ringtones, messages photos etc all backed up perfectly.  This time around all my photos are gone, my videos have disappeared, ringtones are back at factory settings and my e-mail accounts are all gone.  I've also lost all my messages which is a real bummer because there were contact details in some of them.  I've tried restoring the phone from iTunes and going back to a previous backup but no joy.  Can anyone help?
Failing that can anyone tell how best to complain to Apple??? (Would anyone give a "s h one t" anyway!)  Aaaaggghhhh!

I have lost all my photos and videos in iTunes as well.  I don't understand how all my music transferred over but not those?
Pictures were never in iTunes.  iTunes is not a photo management program.  It is merely a tool that allows syncing of a specified folder to an iDevice.  Was the folder that was being synced copied from the old computer to the new computer?
    John Hanniffy wrote:
Another weird thing is that some of my Apps 'changed' in the upgrade and now don't work (e.g. Group Text App reverted to the 'free' Ad bearing version whereas I previously had the 'paid' No-Ad version installed).
That leads me to believe they were not in the Apps folder in iTunes... maybe they were never transfered to the computer.  These can be downloaded again via iTunes or directly on the device.

As I said in my initial post the thing that really bugs me is the loss of my SMS texts.  I don't see any way of backing those up on iTunes and when I previously upgraded the iPhone software they, along with all my settings, transferred over seamlessly.
SMS/MMS/iMessage is included in the backup of the device done via iTunes.  Restoring of that backup will put all the content back.  This should also restore the email account setup

  • Lost all email gmail deleted by mistake need help thank you

lost all email gmail messages deleted by mistake need help thank you.

Mail 2.x doesn’t store mail in standard mbox format. The only way you might find Mail messages in a “recovered” mbox file is if it was a Mail 1.x file that Mail 2.x left there after the conversion to the new *.emlx format when you upgraded from Mac OS X 10.3 or earlier to Mac OS X 10.4.
If you’re running Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and don’t have a backup, what you should have tried to recover are as many *.emlx files as possible. Data Rescue II may be able to do that, but the documentation doesn’t say so. The only data recovery utility that I know for sure can currently recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage.
That said, you may still try to import those mbox files as Other (not as Mail for Mac OS X), and hope that they don’t contain garbage that causes Mail to crash — you may look at their contents with a text editor first to check whether there are actually any emails there.
Beware, however, that anything you do with the computer may cause the deleted *.emlx files to be overwritten if you don’t try to recover them first.

  • Upgraded to maverick lost all emails?

Upgraded to Maverick and lost all emails? Help!!!!

The mailbox list is divided into categories with headings in caps, such as ON MY MAC. When you hover the cursor over one of those headings (except for MAILBOXES), you should see the word Show or Hide on the right. Click Show. The  MAILBOXES category can't be hidden.
In each category, the mailboxes are arranged in groups, such as Inbox. To the left of each group is a small disclosure triangle. If the triangle points to the right, click it so that it points down.
