I lost all my songs while having this error "the ipod cannot be synced. a duplicate filename was specified"

I checked my ipod in the "My Computer", I think it still has the songs since it has still 5.6 GB that is used. But, when I operate my ipod nano 4th generation, there are 0 songs, and 0 videos. Please help.

Find yourself a local Linux geek, there is software that can be used to recover your music off the Nano.

  • How do I fix this error: The iPad cannot be synced. The device has timed out?

Hello out there! Would someone be so kind as to point me in the right direction in fixing my little promblem? I can't seem to figure out how to get my syncing process to work properly. I've updated all my apps and I have even done the steps to configure. I've chosen to use "my iPad" back up feature and then the next step is to connect to iTunes and sync everything. It will do so and then it will say in the window box of iTunes "Finishing Sync". A minute or so later it will feature an error box presenting the statement: "The iPad, "my iPad" cannont sync. The device has timed out." Where do I go from here? Thanks to any with some good solutions. LJ

Oops! Shall I add that I have recently updated my iPad's iOS software to iOS 5.1.1 and this is when my troubles began. :-)

  • When I try to transfer songs to my ipod touch or my friends ipod nano in which both have manually managed music, I get error 13019 "Ipod cannot be synced".  This problem started to occur all of a sudden. Any ideas other than the resyncing?

When I try to transfer songs to my ipod touch or my friends ipod nano, I get error 13019 "Ipod cannot be synced".  Everything was working fine and transferring successfully and then this problem started to occur all of a sudden. My music is managed manually and always has. I looked online for a solution and they all involve resyncing the library and unchecking voice memos. Is there a way to resolve this issue without having to resync my music or reinstall itunes?

Have you powered off and then back on the router?
Have you done anything to the router recently like changed a setting?
    Have you tried:
    - Resetting the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Resetting network settings: Settings>GeneralReset>Reset Network SettingsTo me the error sounds like a network/router problem vice aan iPod problem.

  • Receive error message, The iPod cannot be synced.  The required disk cannot be found.  iPod nano 6th Gen, all latest updates, Macbook Pro, with OS 10.6.7

Receive error message, "The iPod cannot be synced.  The required disk cannot be found.  This is a iPod nano 6th Gen, all updates on iTunes and iPod, Macbook Pro OS 10.6.7.  This is getting frustrating.  I have changed USB ports, cables, reset, restored and was able to sync one time in parts, not all songs at once.  I have seen a lot of this same issue, will Apple please find a solution, nothing works, I think I wasted my money with this iPod.  I have the iPod touch, iPod shuffle, 4th gen iPod nano, iPhone and iPad.  This is the only device that has this issue.

I was actually able to investigate and solve the problem myself. After readng many posts, I found that someone else's tips worked for me:

Try running a disk check out the iPod using the tools provided by windows.
    To do this:
    1. Plug in your iPod and close iTunes.
    2. Go to "My Computer". Click on the iPod drive once. Go to File, and then click Properties.
    3. Go to the Tools tab. Under "Error Checking", click Check Now.
    4. Check both boxes. One says "Automatically fix file system errors" and the other says "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors". Place a check mark next to each of these options and hit Start.
The scan may take several minutes or more to complete, but once it has, go ahead and restart iTunes, and try re-syncing files to your iPod.

  • Why am i receiving error message "the ipod cannot be synced. an unknown error occurred (13019)" when i try to move a song from my itunes library into my music folder on my ipod touch?

Why am I receiving the following message when I try to move a song from my iTunes library into my iPod touch's music folder?
"The iPod cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (13019)."
It was working just fine.  Then all of a sudden this error message popped up.

    Try here:
    iTunes: Error 13019 during sync

Have new MC544LL/A and same old problem"The ipod cannot be synced. A duplicate filename was specified."Is this a "apple or Itune" problem?

I fought this problem for WEEKS with no success.  iTunes on Windows 7 x64.  I tried running it as Administrator.  I tried every fix I could find here and on Youtube and nothing.  Any time I was in iTunes and switched focus to another Window like Outlook or something it would pop this error message up again.  I reinstalled iTunes from scratch.  This did NOT fix it, but it gave me a clue.  I figured it had to be my iTunes library which is stored on an external HD.
After poking around in the library for a while I thought it might be a file that had been set to Read Only so I did an "attrib -r e:\itunes /s"  to clear all of them all.  This wasn't the problem but it alerted me to a file it couldn't clear.  The file was iT.tmp and it couln't clear that because the file was corrupt.  I deleted it but that still didn't fix it.
I finally did a "chkdsk e:\itunes /f" and let it run through.  It found the error in iT.tmp, fixed it and now iTunes works fine again.

  • When i connect my ipod shuffle to itunes i get an error message the ipod cannot be synced, the required disk cannot be found  anyone have this happen?

When i connect my ipod shuffle to itunes i get an error message the ipod cannot be synced, the required disk cannot be found  anyone have this happen? How do i get past it?

I seem to recall that this may be cause by overloading the USB bus (lack of power to go around).  Shut down your computer.  Reset the iPod shuffle using this procedure.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Disconnect ALL peripheral USB devices, including keyboard and mouse.  Power up the computer.  If you need your mouse, connect it and launch iTunes.  Connect the iPod shuffle to a direct USB port and try the sync again.  See if there is any difference.

  • HT201210 i have this error ''the iphone *** cannot be updatet at this time because the iphone software update server could not be countacted ore is temporarily unavailable'' i have 2-3 days tha  try to update or restore the iphone but tha same again :/ pl

i have this error ''the iphone *** cannot be updatet at this time because the iphone software update server could not be countacted ore is temporarily unavailable'' i have 2-3 days tha  try to update or restore the iphone but tha same again :/ plzz helppp

Try updating directly on the device, via iTunes on the computer, and iTunes on a different computer.
If the iPhone has been hacked or jailbroken, it may not be possible to update.

  • The ipod cannot be synced. this disk could not be read from or written to..

this is the message that appeared when i tried putting songs on my shuffle..what should i do?

I had this same issue and stumbled across this solution on a random web sales site for second gen shuffles.
"It is ESSENTIAL that when you first sync the shuffle you enable disk use via the option in iTunes. This prevents iTunes from automatically disconnecting the shuffle. If you do not do this, the shuffle is disconnected automatically as soon as you plug it in, which means you are unable to update it. You will get the messages "Unknown error: Device cannot be read from or written to" which is displayed because the iPod has been disconnected although iTunes doesn't' realise it has disconnected it. iTunes will then freeze and you will be unable to reset the iPod or enable disk use. So make sure you enable Disk Use the very first time you plug in your shuffle! Otherwise you will have to manually reformat the Shuffle"
So I downloaded the ipod restore utillity to reset the ipod to factory defaults. I then ran itunes, gave the ipod a name and let it autofill to give me time to change settings in the ipods setting tab in itunes. Down the bottom of this tab I ticked the checkbox to allow ipod disk use and clicked the apply button and all is working fine now. If the ipod completes synching before you click the apply button then you will need to reset the ipod and try again.
    Hope this helps.

  • When I try to sync my music from my iTunes library onto my iPod, this message comes up "the iPod cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (13019)." I have already read all the troubleshooting options on the apple website. Nothing is working. What now?

I already tried to restore the iPod, and I tried unchecking and checking every option for what I want to sync to my iPod. I restated my computer as well as iTunes, and I feel like I am out of options. I tried doing everything in all of the help articles as well as the steps given in the article written by the tech specialist on the apple website. I feel like I am out of options. my iPod is not even 2 years old, I do not have coverage, and I cannot afford a new iPod of any kind. Please help!!!!

    Had this issue only yesterday...
goto itunes and hook up your ipod
click on the ipod in itunes and goto music tab in right hand screen
    untick sync music option
    apply / sync
go back and re-tick the option
    apply / sync
A boring and tedious solution I agree, but it did work for me

  • Keep having this error: The procedure entry point_objc_image could not be located in the dynamic link librrary objc.dll.

itunes sync is not working on a new device, tried to update to itunes 11.1 but this error keeps showing up now, and when I connect the ipod  it says "itunes requires a newer version of the Mobile Device Support.

To run a CVI application on a system were the CVI IDE is not installed you need to have the CVI RunTime Engine installed. According to the error message at the bottom of this page you may have an older RTE installed in the target system.
To obtain it you can either download the RTE and install in the target system or better let the IDE build a distribution disk that installs all necessary software in it: this guide drives you in creating the appropriate installer for your application: you can find it also in CVI help function.
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

  • When Isync my iPhone with my mac desktop I get this error message, "iPhone cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found". Can anyone help?

When I connect my iPhone (ios 4.3.3) to my Desktop Mac I get an error message. "iPhone cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found." This happened while I was downloading photos from iPhoto.

Close "iPhoto" if it is open. Open the "Pictures" folder and right-click on "iPhoto Library." Select "Show Package Contents." Right-click the "iPod Photo Cache" folder, select "Move to Trash" and sync your iPhone. The error message should no longer appear.
    if that doesn't work,
uninstall itunes and download the lastest version
