I lost audio on my imac

I lost audio thru imac speakers and mic, what should i check?

Unplug and re-plug in the speaker connection. Check the cable, check to see that sound isn't muted.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE update your Profile. This is needed to better troubleshoot problems, please let advise what version of OS X is installed on the iMac and it would be helpful to know what iMac you own.

I did get my audio working again, don't know for sure why exactly, but here's what I did. First of all I have my external speakers plugged into my headphone jack. I had zero sound of any type plugged in or not. First thing I did was to reinstall Mavericks - still no audio. I tried everything on the computer that said "Sound - Mute - Volume etc... computer geek I'm not. Under System Preference I went to Sound clicked everything, Under Output I clicked on headphones - It was already On, I clicked it Off then On again - all my sound came back. I'm not sure why since I had no audio sound with or without the speakers plugged into the this jack. Maybe it was a combination of things and I got lucky. Hope this helps!

How can I input stereo audio to a iMac late 2012?

I can't wee where I can input stereo audio to my iMac (lat 2012) so that I can save the digitized audio to the music library.

I have one of these (iMic)... Sometimes I need to get a song off of a cassette and this does the job.

Hi, I have lost Iphoto off my iMac OSX Lion 10.7.5, I somehow deleted into trash with some other icons from the doc, now I cant get it back and I cant down load it from the Apps page either, can someone advise me how to replace it please?

If you deleted the icon from the dock all you need to do is go to your applications folder and double click in iOhoto to launch it. Then right click on the icon in the Dock and "keep in dock"

I have lost audio on music or skype but i hear it thru earphone.!

I have lost audio on skype or vidio attaching to Email.and side volume not working...what is the problem.?

I was able to perform a reset and got the audio to partially work: Sound does play but only if I have headsets plugged into the iTouch.
When trying to play sound via its speakers, the sound is inaudiable.
Any clues as to what I should do next?

Hello all looks normal when the problem was presented simultaneously opened LPX LP9 and when you return to open a new project or the same project and I only have audio in my headphones output interface, my interface is a motu 828Mk2 the project exists and the interface looks normal in every normal output comprises all looks normal just never sounds like it had passed but never opened the two programs at the same time not to do, I use a digital mixer yamaha normal surface responds as ccontrolador all seems to work perfect but I only have audio output from the headphones even if I motu channel by channel and I assign output sound headset

Suddenly lost audio output on Apple TV

I was using Apple TV and suddenly lost audio. Sound effects still work, but no other audio comes from anything in Apple TV.

Same problem. Worked fine last night while watching a purchased movie. This morning, video works fine, but no sound, from my computer itunes or itunes radio on the apple tv. Odd.
It seems the required update somehow knocked out audio. Once I updated the software on the Apple TV, the sound came back.

I have windows on my mac which was installed at the apple store. I have lost audio and cannot connect to the internet on the windows side. Mac is ok. apple genius and tech support can't help me and say I need to go to microsoft. In fact the tech support was unaware that windows was loaded on by the apple retail store. hey mate i used to have the same problem and i got computers maintenance guys out to fix it in the end and all it was, was the router.. got a new one and it was all good after that! i think some routers just arent compatible for some reason or another.

The audio of my iMac has stopped working, but earbuds ok. How do I fix it?

This solved my problem:
"... disconnect and reconnect your ear buds from the jack on the iMac's back panel several times ..."
The internal speaker option wasn't available until I disconnected and reconnected earbuds from the jack several times.

Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 lost audio.

Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 lost audio. Tried same DVD on media player OK. Happened whilst using HDMI cable but still no audio from HP Compaq with cable removed. Audio settings set at 2 speakers, sterio.

Ok, it's all fixed.
If anyone else has this issue; I ran disk utility in recovery mode; there were volume errors & repaired disk!

videos from YouTube. BUT I don't think it's a hardware issue, since the chime DOES sound when I reboot.
I went to Preferences and Sound, and saw that there's nothing in Input, but the Mute is checked and greyed out.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? I have no idea how it got muted; I didn't do anything. And since it's
greyed out, I have no idea how to unmute.

Did you reset Logic's audio preferences?
Did you do a hardware reset of the MOTU unit?
Try deleting preferences in Logic X
