I lost contacts on IPHONE and in Address Book on MacBook Pro

Hello,
I just update my iOS5 on my iphone and my contacts are missing out of the iphone and MacBook Pro.
I tried a restore and nothing..... did they go to ICLOUD and how do I go to the clouds to get my contacts back?
thank you,
angel

If you go to itunes/settings/devices you should see the backup of your phone. This backup contains, among other data, also your contacts. But only if you made that backup before you synced your new contact and you did not sync the phone after that. If this is the situation, disable autosync in itunes, right click on the phone in the device list and choose restore from backup.

If you managed to do so, set up at least one contact and event on your computer before you sync your data to the phone again, to be able to get the "merge the data" message.

Did you backup your mac lately? In that case you could look for the iphone backup folder and copy it back to your HD.

  • Sync from iPhone 4 to Address Book on MacBook Pro

Hi, does anyone know how to sync my contacts from my iPhone 4 to the "address book" on my MacBook Pro? It seems like it should be a simple process, but I can only find info on how to do it with Outlook. I realize that my contacts sync via iCloud, but I would like to be able to access them on my address book on my computer.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance!!!

I have done what the following says (copied and pasted from another thread) and it is still not working.
"The sync process for contacts with a supported address book application on your computer is a bidirectional or true sync process, or should be.
If any new contacts added on your iPhone or an edit of an existing contact does not make it to the Address Book when syncing, try resetting the sync history on your Mac, which is done via iSync preferences with the iSync application located in your Applications folder."

  • All my contacts are gone from my iphone and my address book!!

All of a sudden, I synced my iphone with my imac as usual and all my contacts are gone out of the phone and the address book onmy computer. Help! Thanks

Do you not maintain a backup of your important data saved to an external hard drive used for backup purposes only or to CD media?
The Address Book application includes a simple backup database option as does iCal which is simple to restore the entire database from in the event something like this occurs.
Do you have a .Mac account? If so, you can recover all contacts from your .Mac online address book. If not and you don't have a backup of this data available in some fashion, you are in trouble.

This is most inconvenient and frustrating

Norton Version 5.0 works with Mozilla 4.0 with a patch from Norton. I went to Norton help tab, chat line, and Norton assistant took over my computer, upgraded my Norton version 3.0, and installed the patch free of charge. all problems solved.

  • Lost Contacts in iPhone and Address book in Mac

Hi, I'm using iPhone 3G and just today, when I finished syncing with my Mac, I lost all the contacts I have for both. Is there a way to recover all the contacts? Or is it possible to export my contacts in entourage to my Mac address book so I can sync it in my iphone as well?
Although I'm using Mac for almost a year now, I encountered this problem just now. Please help, thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple community.
I can't fully tell from the information you have provided, but I suspect your duplicates resulted from having one set of contacts in your "iCloud "account and another set of contacts in your "on my Mac" account.
I further suspect that you have then deleted the contacts from your "Icloud "account, and thereby removed them from all devices. You now need to copy the contacts from your "on my Mac" account back to your "iCloud" account and delete the originals from your "on my Mac" account. You can do this by selecting groups, selecting your "on my Mac" group, and then selecting all the contacts within it and dragging them onto your "iCloud " account.
You might also take a look at this User Tip, to ensure you understand the differences between the different accounts in Address Book before adding the contacts back.

  • Cannot sync iphone 3G contacts and address book using MacBook Pro.  What can i do?

I have an iPhone 3G and a MacBook Pro with latest operating system.  Have also set up iCloud on Mac.  iPhone is not on IOS5.  Within the last day, the contacts disappeard from phone.  Tried to sync using itunes, including the option to copy contact content to phone.  Also powered off the phone to see if a reset would work.
Does anyone have an idea as to how to copy / sync contacts to phone when the software does not seem interested in doing it automatically?
    Thanks

To gain Internet access for the MacBook Pro, you will either need your own Internet service provided by an ISP or access to another Wi-Fi network that has Internet service.
Your MBP has a built-in wireless adapter, called an AirPort Extreme Card. This adapter is able to connect to just about any Wi-Fi network available today.
If you opt to get your own Internet service, most ISPs will provide you as a minimum an Internet modem. Some also offer a wireless version of this device. For those that do not, you will also need an Internet router (wired or combination wired/wireless) in order for your MBP's wireless to connect.

  • How do I upload contacts from iPhone to Mac Address book

I recently purchased both an iPhone and MacBook Pro. I have all my contacts in my phone, and want to sync them with address book on the mac. But when I go to Address Book on the laptop to import, the iPhone is not listed under devices. How do I access/sync the contacts from my phone?

iTunes handles the sync. Post in the iPhone forums.

  • Address Book on MacBook Pro does not sync with IPad or Iphone

I have a MacBook Pro with OS10.7.4.  When I add a new address it does not sync with my IPad or IPhone.  However, adding an address on the IPad or IPhone it will appear on the IMac Pro.  I have checked to make sure that the Address Book on my IMac is directed to ICloud.  I also tried to uncheck the Address Book on ICloud, recheck and restart the computer with no success.  What am I missing?

It just started to sync.  Forget the question.

  • Reminders not working on iPhone and iPad, but are on MacBook Pro

My reminders on my MacBook Pro are showing up 24 hours in advance of the set time for that reminder, but they are not showing up on my iPad 3 and iPhone 5. I have to power the iPad and iPhone off for the reminders to show up in the notification center. Does anyone know what's going on or how to fix this?

    Hi Bartman27p229,
If your Reminders are not appearing on your iPad 3 and iPhone 5 automatically in notification center, here is an article of troubleshooting steps by device:
iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Reminders and Tasks
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4000
You may also want to verify that Notification Center is set up as you would like for Reminders:
    iOS: Understanding Notifications
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3576
Step 4 of Troubleshooting Notifications explains:
Check Settings > Notifications to ensure that the app is configured for notifications.
If notifications do not appear only in the Notification Center, verify that the Notification Center setting for the app is enabled.
    Cheers!

  • How do I take all of the music on my iPhone and import it to my Macbook Pro?

I had an Asus laptop and that's where all my music was, now I'd like to get it all to my Macbook Pro I have everything I need on my iPhone so how can I get all of my iPhone music to my Macbook pro?

Your best bet is to transfer it directly from the other computer (copy the entire iTunes folder from one to the other, put in same location), otherwise your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • Address book on macbook pro isn't syncing

    Hi all,
I just discovered that the Address Book on my MacBook Pro isn't as up-to-date as the one on my iMac. I fairly recently updated to Snow Leopard. Is there something I can do to solve this? I sort of thought that everything was supposed to sync--every Mac and mobileMe.
Thanks so much for any help.

It just started to sync.  Forget the question.

  • Address book from MacBook Pro to new 24" iMac

    Hey All..
Just taken delivery of my new iMac 24". Absolutely amazing! However, I'm desperate to import my address book from my MacBook Pro to the new iMac. I have set my MBP into harddrive mode by pressing T on start up. If someone could tell me how to do it that'd be great.
I am absolutely delighted with my new iMac despite being worries after reading all the disappointed customers on this site.
Anyways, hope you guys can help as usual.
    Kindest regards..
